In the comments to the previous post, alan markus suggested another poll — inspired by this discussion at on an Isthmus forum — about what people would do with a searchable database of the names and addresses of those who sign the petition to recall Scott Walker. I'm not using alan's options. This poll — like all my polls — represents my musings on the subject.

I'm shunning the entire state of Wisconsin and going big game hunting in Ohio.
Well, that has "chill wind" written all over it...
Identify those most in need of occupation?
I would smoke pot and look for silly names, like Vivian Boner.
I would do like some public-spirited citizen did with a database of contributors to the campaign for Proposition 8 in California -- create an interactive Google map showing where each petition signer lived.
Goose, gander, that sort of thing.
(Google is evil.)

In that vein, if you see "Libby Ralsuk" they've stopped by my house.
Patty O'Furniture

Jeremy Fitspatrick

Al Falfa
Heywood Jablome

#1 sometimes 3; #4 but only in combination w/ 3..not 1; #2 but only if it's a Thursday or Sunday! These are STUPID MUSINGS!
I'm shunning the entire state of Wisconsin and going big game hunting in Ohio.
And hang out with the people that are going to crush Kasich's anti-union bill? :-)
Productive people don't have time to search databases of people that are dissatisfied with election results.
Don't forget Hugh G. Rection!
What will people do? Waste their time, likely.
And hang out with the people that are going to crush Kasich's anti-union bill? :-)
Wishful thinking. Kasich is gonna prevail, idiot.
Well, it'll provide all the community organizers with plenty of names to intimidate - y'know, camp out at their homes, call their employers, classy stuff like that.

Don't hold your breath on it.
There's a big media effort underway to inform the public on Issue 2.
This one may turn out like the Prosser recall.
Punish those who sign.
Good. Goose. Gander.
Lets see how they like being judged by their own standards.
#1 and #7 are probably the best answers. I probably wouldn’t spend time looking through the database but if I were so inclined, looking for obviously fake names in order to cause the recall effort to fail would be the best reason.
Fake Names:
And that old tongue-twister, Connaugh Lindquist.
For Conservatives / Sane Folks of any stripe): 1,2, or 7.
For Leftists / Libtards: 3 & 4.
I'd search for....
My name.
Bernie Madoff
Ivan Will Ripoff
etc etc etc
I would do like some public-spirited citizen did with a database of contributors to the campaign for Proposition 8 in California -- create an interactive Google map showing where each petition signer lived.
I'll note that the San Francisco Chronicle put that interactive Google map up on its web page.
If I could search a database of signers of the "Recall Scott Walker" petition, I would:
use it to purge mailing lists/marketing databases of unintelligent folks.
There should be a way for people to check to see if their name is on a petition that they did not sign. The system of signature collection seems ripe for abuse.
Scott, I'm pretty sure you mean "for."
At least the only google map tied to contributors that I heard about was the one that identified people who contributed to the pro-prop 8 side.
I think creating that map was both a wrong and stupid thing to do, by the way.
I wonder how many people will sign Scott Walker's name?
Will anybody sign "Kilroy?"
All I know is I didn't sign the blasted petition.
