Spartan apples.

Spartan apples

A fruit of questionable parentage:

Dr. Don Fisher: ... Spartan was just one of the crosses... in this case it was supposed to be McIntosh and Newtown, but they found recently by genetic analysis that it didn't have Newtown as one of the parents, and these sort of mix-ups happen in fruit breeding.

Gillian Deacon: McIntosh is the female parent, but the pollen donor's identity remains a mystery. Named Spartan in 1936, the lucky accident proved to be a keeper.

What is that red splotchy stuff on your table? The verdigris finish looks defective. Or is it supposed to be distressed?

Spartan is a good apple. Northern Spys are good too.

That's not a wertigris finish, that's painted steel. The red is an underlying coat of paint exposed by chipping.

You mean Miss McIntosh wears a scarlet A?

"...the pollen donor's identity remains a mystery." I'm sure he'll turn up on a reality show and claim he did to pay his way through cider school.

I'd like to get me some of them golden apples....golden apples of the sun. And tiny purple fishes would run laughing through my fingers. That would be cream.

I like to avoid mongrel fruit.

Apparently, Fuji is a mongrel too.

Queen Gorgo: Your lips can finish what your fingers have started... or has the Oracle robbed you of your desire as well?
King Leonidas: It would take more than the words than a drunken adolescent girl to rob me of my desire of you. I must put your sweet sweet apples in my mouth.

Keeper is the right word.

Let's face it, if this matter was in family court, Newtown still would be held responsible for paying child support to McIntosh.

EDH, that is impressively geeky on a number of levels.

Once as a teenager, I was in a Model U.N. thing. I took it all seriously and was brokering this major Middle Eastern peace settlement until one annoying smart-ass bastard started going down the road of absurdity. He started talking about bad apples. And how, as the U.N., it was our responsibility to get rid of the bad apples, 'cuz that's what you do with bad apples. Like pack them up in trains and send them to the gas chambers, apparently...

I didn't know until later that there was an unwritten rule about Model U.N. that, at the end of the day, it is supposed to get ridiculous.

Anyway, the statement I want to make here is that is would be like totally awesome to have two black men running for President of the United States. I despise attending to racial characteristics, but this is just too obvious to avoid. Cain v. Obama. It'll beat any Tyson bout, even any Mohammad Ali bout. It'll be the Thrilla' Without Vanilla'.

Please don't vote for anyone else. You've gotta think of the entertainment value first, people!!!

Obviously:

McIntonsh is the female donor, and Ben Seisler is the male donor.

Are you actually trying to say that Romney is paying/encouraging me to talk about honeycrisp apples? Cause that actually sounds like a sweet gig.
