"The country I come from is called the Midwest....."

"With God On Our Side" is a great, if over-familiar Dylan song, but I love this cover version by Bon Iver, performed last week in Portland, which you can listen to here.

Ugh, Dylan again?

But Ann, the country you come from is called Delaware.

Shouldn't you link the Delaware Destroyers?

You can't spell Bon Iver without BORE.

Truth is, I like some of Iver's music. But he can be dull.

@psychodelic george. It's really too bad about the Obama bumper stick on the speaker cabinet behind Bob Weir's head in your linked video.

Total gratuitous statement/distraction.

Sigh

The lyrics seem bigoted to me. People of the coasts were eager to volunteer in the Civil War, the S-A war, and the World Wars.
There was less genius than audience-pandering in Dylan's lyrics. For decades people have been able to build fame & fortune by assuaging the vanity of college-going boomers.

That's an old lament. Bob had a Job in the great north woods, working as a cook for a spell.

One of Dylan's most powerful songs. More relevant today than ever.

Where is the "Midwest"?  I think a lot of folks confuse it with the Great Plains.

Last week on "Sons of Anarchy" they had an acoustic version of "The Times They Are A Changing" sung in Spanish.

"Los Tiempos Van Cambiando."

I thought to myself....either Sutter is another baby boomer douche bag or J has burrowed into my brain like that worm thing did to Checkov in "The Wrath of Kahn."

WTF?

Song really drags.

Better to read the lyrics than to listen to the song.

I tried to listen to the recording using Ann's link. Got through a few bars, and clicked off. The singing was bland and colorless. Really mediocre music-making at best. What do people hear in this stuff that makes them come back for more?

One thing about this song I decided. No.

Do you know where Midwestern State University is located? Wichita Falls, Texas. The Midwest seems to be a big place.
