No question. Game 7 all the way...

The Cards did it again. They gave up 2 runs in the top and got 2 runs back to tie in the bottom of the same inning It 's like Annie Get Your Gun...anything you can do I can do better.

Remember when Glen Close was drowned in the bath tub? And totally dead. Except that she wasn't- and popped up out of the water? That's what the Cards reminded me of last night.

Do for Stan the Man, Cards.

Interesting pic. Very brooding, but a hint of serenity holds out.

You'd better double the men on nighthawk. Anything could spook the herd.

Why does anyone think that neck tattoos look good?

Instapundit reports that the permit for Occupy Madison has been jerked due to "inappropriate behavior, such as public masturbation, from street protesters." Well, he didn't say "jerked," I did, because I thought it was better than "pulled"; although some might see the two words as synonyms in this context!

Petunia said...

BTW, Ann, belated thanks for the location of that picturesque red building. I'll include Hollandale on one of my fall country drives.

Have you been to the Soldiers' Home grounds in Milwaukee, right next to Miller Park? Some amazing architecture.

Petunia, I think that neck tattoos are about looking tough. That's a kind of sensitive area of the body for a tattoo, so it's basically saying that the wearer doesn't care about a little pain.

What I've really noticed about the players this postseason is jut how much facial hair they have. They wouldn't make good presidential candidates, since it's been about a century since we've had a president with facial hair.

'cause eventually they're shoulder tattoo's?

Go Rangers.

So I was reading a sample of the Steve Jobs bio on my Kindle, I accidentally bought the book, but when I had a chance to cancel the purchase I demurred. I'm not a devotee, but it's an interesting enough read so far. I think it's good that with all of the Jobs worship over the last ten years, we now get an unvarnished look at what a dick he could be. (And Jobs was fully aware of this.) 99% of the people who idolize him could never work for him more than a week or 2.

If the Cards win, will rioting fans push over the St. Louis Arch?

Public masturbation scandal at occupy Madison. Mead is watching baseball. Get your camera man! This is much better than poetry in the rotunda!

glenn said...

Actually this is a pretty poor excuse for Major League baseball. And how about those ball and strike calls. More like a show than a game. And I'm a lifelong Cards fan.

Petunia said...

Apparently the occupy Madison types have moved to the parking lot of a former car dealership.

Which was purchased by the city for redevelopment, and has been suggested by a prominent homeless advocacy group as a potential daytime homeless shelter for winter, since the two most-used locations will be unavailable.

The Capitol cafeteria, which was almost taken over by homeless people on cold days, has been closed since the spring tantrum, and the central library is closing in a couple of weeks for a long renovation.

But one would think that a progressive, tolerant, liberal city like Madison would have other options, plus a sympathetic city administration, right?

Nope! The mayor has vetoed the idea of using the empty car dealership building as a shelter.

Wonder what he'll do about the protestors now camped in the parking lot?

Someone on a local radio show today pointed out that the "Wisconsin fist" logo is especially appropriate now in light of the public wanking allegation...

If no one ever made a mistake -- pitcher, fielder, batter or baserunner -- what would a baseball game be like?

David said...

Stan the Man Musial is happy. Me too.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

Congratulations to the SL Cardinals.. They are the champions of baseball.

It was as if fate intervened.. never leading, always having to come back.. they just kept doing it. Winning the hard way.

I'm sure never going to forget it.

Tyrone Slothrop said...

@MarkG

And how would you like it if every mistake you made at work was viewed by the vast public, then written down in a book of records so that it could be remembered forever?

David said...

Did anyone notice that the crowd at St. Louis was overwhelmingly white?

And the seats surrounding the St. Louis dugout were all one per centers.

"occupied by one per centers."

His place being what -- President of the United States?

What Cards did to Texas is nothing compared to what Obama will do to Perry. The Senator from MO is a big fan of the POTUS. We see victories for us everywhere. Today the world series and tomorrow the WH. It is all written for us.

It wasn't quite up to the exhilaration of game 6, but a good show overall! One of the ladies watching with us is from St. Louis and went to school with Freese, so she was perfectly stoked by the end. (One of her friends who had Freese's mom as a teacher wrote on Facebook: "I wish I was nicer to Mrs. Freese in 7th grade!")

MSNBC Analyst: GOP Sees Herman Cain as a 'Black Man Who Knows His Place'

I read that earlier and blogged about it. I think it's funny that they're making that criticism of Herman Cain of all people! A man who's been a ballistics expert in the Navy, on the board of the Kansas City Fed, and the CEO of Burger King and Godfather's pizza is the same man who "knows his place." If only more black people knew their place they'd be a lot better off.

The key to the season was getting rid of clubhouse cancer Colby Rasmus. I note also that my beloved Cardinals really started cranking out wins when Nyjer Morgan ran his mouth one too many times.

Way to go Cards! World Champs again!

This World Series wasn't all that great. However, the sixth game of this World Series was the best baseball game ever played.

No, everything is NOT about the Boston Red Sox. Still, I think the 2011 Texas Rangers and the 1986 Boston Red Sox will be forever linked. It's just taking a while to identify their Bill Buckner.

Occupy Madison loses permit

The permit, which expired Wednesday at noon, required Occupy Madison protesters to relocate from their current space at 30 West Mifflin Street, also called 30 on the Square.

"A neighboring hotel's staff alleged voiced concerns about having to recently escort hotel employees to and from bus stops late at night due to inappropriate behavior, such as public masturbation, from street protesters."

One of my jobs in the Navy was to catch the photo from polar-orbiting NOAA satellites while we were at sea. Sometimes that's all the weather info we had, although a lot of mid-ocean weather forecasting is pretty simple when you're mainly just concerned about tomorrow.

NPP-- an acronym of an acronym! (NPOESS Preparatory Project) A meta-acronym, or MA. My kids would call it an Inception acronym.
