Would that the President of the United States could give clear advice of equal value to Governor Christie's minute and forty seconds worth.

Sixty Grit, well this is New Jersey. The way people speak in North Carolina is far more polite. The way Christie phrased it was actually very polite for Jersey.

Christie's shirt looks like a tarp.

Most of the guys I went to school w/ are from Jersey..and this guy is classic Jersey. What a refreshing politician.

And your hair looks bouffant!

The life of a politician.

One: You need to be surrounded by fans. (You may call them "friends." But they're your best fans.)

So Governor Christie was right on the button!

TWO: If you want a politician's life you always have to smile. Be ready to shake hands. And, ASK PEOPLE FOR THEIR VOTE. Because as Christie says "People like to be asked."

I love this man! I can't help myself. He just seems to ace all TV appearances. Unfortunately, when he came to California, to help Meg Whitman campaign ... She lost. She didn't have the personality necessary to win.

And, this stuff just doesn't rub off.

I went to the University of Delaware football game on Saturday. Christie is an alum and attends many of the games. He was there, as usual, in a box down by the front. As I was leaving, I passed his security guys who were standing nearby and said to them "Please tell the governor to run for president, and that if he does, he has my vote." And they said "Oh that is what everybody is coming by and telling us."
Interesting.

Garage, stockpile all of your fat jokes. Christie might run for Prez someday, and then you have something to say about it.

The Fat Man rocks.

He is a real guy, unlike the blow-dried Romney.

He is approachable, unlike the scary Perry.

The camera loves him.

A great communicator, like that guy Ronald, uh...

Trooper York said...

Jeez Garage I know you love to hate on the Republican women but you have to talk about fat jokes?

Trooper York said...

Christie can't run. He has a Mario Cuomo problem.

Too many skeletons in his closet.

And unlike Obama the mainstream media will not cover them up. Instead they will broadcast them 24/7.

Christie is too smart to put his head in the noose like that.

Carol_Herman said...

Andrew Cuomo can't run for president for TWO reasons:

ONE: He's Catholic

TWO: His wife is a Kennedy

But "IF" he runs ... then, for sure, the democrapic well has run dry.

On the other hand? They could run Elizabeth Warren! Then, watch out!

Carol_Herman said...

If, as Sarah Palin says ... 2012 will produce an UNCONVENTONAL YEAR ... all guesswork ... based on old model politics ... will have flushed itself down the drain.

Well? What about Obama?

You bet. Obama changed something.

Sarah Palin has gone on record saying ... you ain't seen nothing, yet!

What would a change look like?

I'd guess one as being TV won't count.

The Internet WILL count.

Trooper York said...

Listen stupid, I was talking about Mario Cuomo.

Andrew will be running in 2016 as he is far enough removed from his Mafia grandfather. And as a liberal democrat the mainstream press will cover it up.

Being Catholic is not a problem unless you are a racist nitwit like you.

Wince said...

Better advice: Research prior results and target the people who are likely to vote, especially people who already know you.

I ran for school office once without looking at prior results and just canvassed hundreds of students in the cafeteria.

I lost.

Turns out, like most prior elections, the actual turn-out was in the dozens, and I would have been better off just concentrating on getting the people I knew to turn out and vote instead of trying to sway the masses.

D-ho!

That would be religious bigotry, not racism.

Is garage's bias against fat people obesism?

edutcher said...

Notice he never said anything about telling the truth, not promising anything he couldn't deliver?

But, yes, Christie is a natural and, yes, he's got a lot of problems with the stands he's taken.

No, he can't run because the only reason there's same-sex marriage in NY is because he bought off 4 RINOs and 3 Demos. He may get the nod - maybe - but he'll go down in flames in the general election.

Actually, I think the same-sex thing is to get him the Veep spot on the ticket - regardless of who is the top man - or woman.

ricpic said...

Christie's so HUMAN. You don't realize till you see it and hear it how starved you are for that.

SteveR said...

OT but I am really tired of these speeches with the idiotic grinning and nodding supporters sitting behind the speaker. I assume there's some scientific basis for this but that means the study group that must be positively influenced by it, is comprised of brains full of mush.

Carol_Herman said...

Andrew Cuomo becomes Obama's next veep choice?

So,you'd get one man from Chicago. The other from New York. Which doesn't exactly balance the ticket. And, it only covers two black neighborhoods.

Not that I care.

Nobody's gonna watch the veep debates, anyway. It's not like the GOP is gonna have Dick Cheney up there. (Dick Cheney is terrific.)

Perhaps, the biggest problem, now, for both parties ... is how to kick this 2012 race to life?

Balloons and confetti aren't enough.

Correct. It's only racism if its Islam.

MadisonMan said...

I thought those were pretty good tips. I say that as a failed 6th grade Presidential Candidate. My posters weren't colorful, and I didn't ask people for their vote.

Carol_Herman said...

Biden's the right religion. Cuomo is not.

Obama's probably not going to change horses.

The GOP ... Depending on where people get to sit in their tent ... may have something to do with what Sarah Palin predicts will be an UNCONVENTIONAL presidential election cycle.

In any event, Sarah Palin is the most interesting person to watch.

(Chris Christie is also very interesting. But he won't run. He's Catholic. And, he's NOT a favorite among those who hold the GOP tent flap open.)

You might as well go back to 1976 ... and watch how "the old boys network" actually did lock Ronald Reagan OUT!) They ran with Ford!

Then, Ford lost to Jimmy Carter.

(At least the dem's panic about not having a viable candidate explains Carter's rise.)

After that? The "old boys network" in general, can't really pick national winnahs.

Maybe, that's what makes the Internet thrive on VIRAL infections ... you get from Christie and Palin?

You really are a moron. They are both phony ultra liberal cafeteria Catholics.

They are about as Catholic as you are a sentient being.

LIEUTENANT
Yesterday, one of our patrols picked up a woman claims she was a prisoner with some Wisconsin anarchists till only two days ago...She talks crazy but I brought her along... Says she lives here... keeps mentioning a rocking chair.

TROOPER (half to himself)
Carol?...

And then he is striding to the door, calling it:

TROOPER
Carol!

CAROL HERMAN'S VOICE
Ay-he?... Ay-eh?...

And the old lady totters in, half-supported by a trooper --hollow-eyed, weak, almost delirious.

CAROL HERMAN
Come f'r my rockin' chai'... ole Carol.

TROOPER (shouting it)
Where're the Anarchist, Carol... The Anarchists?

CRACK
Ask about the New Agers!
CAROL HERMAN
My rockin' chai'...

ANN ALTHOUSE (bustling over)
Leave the poor thing be! Can't you see she's out of she mind...

She tries to lead Carol away, but then totally by surprise Justice David Prosser jumps into the scene shoves her aside and grips the old woman by the neck.

TROOPER (not even acknowledging Prosser) Herman you ignorant slut... try to remember!... You were in Anarchists' camp...

CAROL HERMAN
Ay-he... Made out I was crazy...
(She giggles foolishly)
Ate dirt... chewed grass... I fooled 'em, TROOPER!... an' I got away...

Well, to be precise, Andrew Cuomo's EX-wife is a Kennedy (who loathes him with a white-hot passion). That fact alone certainly makes him a more worthy candidate in my book, but the Kennedy clan and their friends would sooner see Karl Rove as president than Cuomo fils.

Johanna Lapp said...

J: For a fat, confused slob, Christie's doing a great job of making unions, liberals and the Dems in the state legislature his bitches.

Smell the glove.

Trooper York said...

Cuomo is personally very unlikeable so he doesn' have a chance in hell.

You write off too much of the nation when you have a New Yorker as a candidate.

mariner said...

Trooper,
Being Catholic is not a problem unless you are a racist nitwit like you.

I hope that was a momentary slip; you're usually better than that.

Being Catholic IS a problem for a prominent Democrat, and it's not racist or stupid to point that out.

The Church is speaking against abortion far more in recent years than it has in the past, and serious Catholics do not approve of abortion -- BUT abortion on demand is the Most Sacred Rite of the Democratic Party.

Nominating a Catholic to run for President brings abortion to the forefront, even as many Democrats would like to avoid the issue.

I was waiting for him to say that third tip -- don't make promises you can't keep when you want to win again in the 7th std. Has anybody told that to Obama, no second term for hope and change?

Too bad Christie isn't running. I'd rather see the Republicans draft Clinton (Bill) than run Perry or Romney.

Trooper York said...

Mariner it was not a slip.

Cuomo is a phony liberal cafeteria Catholic who has no problems with divorce or abortion. I bet he had both.

He could very easily run away from the Church since he doesn't pay much attention to it in his life. He is about as real a Catholic as John Kerry o4 Teddy Kennedy.

His problem with the rest of the country is that he is a real New Yorker and they are very unpopular in the rest of the country.

He has a better shot at getting on the new cast of Jersey Shore. Just sayn'

Fred4Pres said...

The Dems can find better than Cuomo. He has no shot, other than maybe a cabinet position if he backs the right horse...I mean jack ass.

Geoff Matthews said...

Uh, Cuomo divorced his Kennedy in 2005. He's shacking up with a TV chef now.
Which raises the question on whether a man who is shacking up can win the presidency.

You know who Christie is, and, moreover, so does he. His swagger has an appealing quality of vulnerability. ..He was on Piers Morgan a while back. He said that he didn't mind the fat jokes, but his kids were teenagers and he felt that the ridicule was damaging to them. That was one of the factors in his decision to stay out of the race......When's the last time a comedian directed a fat joke at Nadler or Barney Frank.

Synova said...

That's really cute.
