Althouse, I love this administration as much as the next guy, but what about:

The Scandal of the Century

This is worse than watergate, and iran/contra combined.

Well, it is a young century.

There's also Solyndra, Gibson Guitar, the Ford ad...

"There's also Solyndra, Gibson Guitar, the Ford ad."

This is much worse than just wasting money and corruption. Hundreds of murders resulted, and this administration knowingly and purposefully provided the guns to criminals fighting a neighboring ally's government. And like Solyndra it has plenty of smoking gun witnesses with knowledge going high up the chain.

RIP Boston Dead Sox.

The way I look at it, we've got 81 more years to win the next World Series championship and still come out ahead.

:)

Poor Lem.

I've developed an immunity.. and when they do rarely win, it is that much sweeter.. (at least thats what I tell others)

The only silver lining I can find is I forgot to email my brother in Fla the link so he too could stay up with his two sons and watch the train wreck.

This goes to show you can't just go blithely picking tomatoes.

Is that some kind of Freuidan tomato?

Not a spider. A harvestman. AKA daddy long legs. They are arachnids (8 legged bugs like ticks, mites, scorpions), so, related to spiders.

WIth a spider you can see a separation between thorax and abdomen. Think of a tarantula. In a harvestman they are fused. Plus, they have longer legs than spiders.

Fred, deer ate your tomatoes? Condolences. They ate up all my pears. But hunting season is coming, and they will PAY.

Tomatoes are green. Meanwhile, the world goes Argentine.

Most significant: "The initial response to this challenge was to send as many young people as possible to vocational colleges that were rebranded as universities where, to judge by the complaints of old-fashioned elitists, they learned nothing of value a considerable proportion remained semiliterate but nonetheless emerged with a diploma that would supposedly guarantee them a cushy job. Most graduates of such establishments have been disappointed. However, it is not only the manifestly incompetent but also those who half a century earlier would have had little difficulty in holding down a well-paying job who are being sidelined and reduced to living on welfare. For a while, governments expanded the local public sector in order to keep unemployment down to what were regarded as tolerable levels, but now they are being forced to cut back with a vengeance."

Sounds familiar.

Last night at work, I listened to Michelle Shocked's Short, Sharp, Shocked album from 1988 on my iPod. One of the songs is titled "Black Widow," and this picture made me think of it. Not available on YouTube, unfortunately. I love her cover of "The L&N Don't Stop Here Anymore," as well as the amped-up version of "Fogtown" at the end of the album. Neither of those are on YouTube, either. Bummer.

Interestingly, she was at the Madison rally on 3/5/2011.

Harvestmen also have 2 eyes, instead of 8. Pretty cool! They can't see very well, though, apparently.

A very cool and likeable member of the insect world.

With a name like the Brewers coupled with live blogging..

What are the chances?

Sternhammer, houses are a wee bit too close to blast the deer in the yard (I would prefer not explaining that to the sheriff)...but I probably could legally shoot them with a bow. They are friggin brazen though.

I'm waiting for the bit of lull between gay marriage being an issue and polygamous marriage becoming an issue to change my Facebook info from Libertarian Conservative to just plain Conservative.

That tomato is ambitious.

Michelle Shocked supports the Madison unions?

She won't mind if I download her old album for free, then, right?

KCFleming said...

There won't be a lull, Freeman; the demand will be immediate.

A lull between polygamy and marry anything you want even yourself will be long enough to allow you to type.

Prep with some Russell Kirk.

Why even include that? I figure that all my fb friends know as much about my politics as I want them to. I'm not about to let Facebook know even more about me.

Maybe I'm just paranoid this morning.

Freeman Hunt said...

I include it because there are so few of us who went to school together who now have those politics that I know how heartening it is to look at an old classmate's profile and see it listed.

Also, a lot of people I went to school with completely buy into the myth that anyone who leans GOP is evil, intolerant, and ignorant. I like to confuse that assumption. (Unless, of course, I come off as evil, intolerant, or ignorant. What a shame that would be!)

Census Bureau Admits It 'Artifcially Inflated the Number of Same-Sex Couples'

Sternhammer said...

Fred,

I use the bow. Partly for your reason, but mostly because I am afraid I will store the gun and ammo carelessly. I have a 12 and 9 year old boys, and they might mess around if I was careless. But they can't draw the bow, so ... built-in safety.

Plus, it takes the deer maybe 20 minutes to bleed out from the bowshot. So they have time to Think About What They Did.
