Venice Beach, CA (Elevation = 1 ft) is even higher.

Remedies for Lead Poisoning are kindness based. The trick is to feel loved as you turn off the oxygen tank, wither and die.

Is it a law that you have to use the godawful maroon color on buildings?

Marijuana that is smoked is actually better for severe nausea, especially from chemotherapy, than the oral THC pills. A guy I played golf with who had recovered from esophageal cancer told me it really made a huge difference for him. That said, I would guess that the real medical benefit affects about 1% of the current users of these shops.

But the cafe went out of business?

Doesn't grass make ya hungry?

Not that I saw anyone going in, or parked to go in to make a purchase.

A town where even grass don't sell much? Hope your blog increases their traffic.

Can they sell me something to improve my color balance?

How far from euphoria must you be before you are considered sick?

Once you decide - marijuana cures that.

I haven't partaken in years, but just to expand the ol' knowledge base I was reading up on so-called medical marijuana recently. It turns out that not only does the stuff apparently not cause cancer, there is some evidence that it might prevent cancer by inhibiting rapid cell growth. Who knew. Rationally, I should take up cigarette smoking again, countered by also blowing ganja.

Carol Herman, Sativa cannabis does indeed make you hungry. That is the strain used by patients treating nausea. Indica, which is used for pain management, has little effect on appetite. At these dispensaries they have Indica, Sativa and hybrids. The science is still evolving but this is a legit medicine, despite the propaganda from naysayers. Again, most of the naysayers have a stake in their derision..being paid pawns of the liquor, police and legal industry.

Pet peave of mine....potheads who say we need "medical marijuana". No we don't. You just want to get high and not risk getting arrested.

Hey, I know. I need Medical Beer to drink while I am on road trips. It helps me concentrate and prevent getting in an accident.

Three things that are the cure all to anything you can come up with:

-Medical Marijuana
-Stem cell research
-Global warming remeidies

If they were kind, they wouldn't deal in marijuana.

Exceedingly unhealthy.

PS Now we know.

J said...

Yeah it shouldn't be "legal Medical marijuana for sale".

The sign should read "Legal med. pot AND recreational marijuana, hashish, opiates for sale", with like a "Welcome Pot heads and Opiate-fans!"

Have you guys gone to one of the hot springs in Glenwood Springs?

I was wondering if someone would comment at exactly 4:20. J scores.

Marijuana grown from stem cells in the CO2 from an SUV exhaust.

The ultimate solution.

Close, you can cure any ills in the world with:

Marijuana grow from stem cells, and incubated inside a Toyota Prius (with lots of bumper stickers on it).

I think it's this one, with 2 locations in Ron Kind's congressional district (Western Wisconsin). The adds are so stupid, only a stoner could love them.

I was in Leadville once but experienced a different kind of high.

Agreed, I'm just in favor of legalized pot, period. The gov't should have no business telling me what I can put in my body, whether it's sushi, unpasteurized cheese, transfats, beer, nicotine, or marijuana.

And I'm gonna be...high... as a kite by then.

I will admit to having been to Deadville on a number of times in the past - most recently in Jan so my kid could ski with the kids of one of my law school profs who has a house there.

It is high - approx. 10,000 feet, in the shadow of two of the top 4 or 5 highest peaks in the continental U.S. The town's mining past (and possibly future with Climax reopening) is obvious. Still fairly poor, now filled with workers in the resorts in Eagle (Vail)and Summit counties.

Beautiful in a stark sort of way. Looked into buying a place there maybe 10 years ago, but it is cold there in the winter. Probably stick to Summit Cty back across Freemont pass

Excuse me Dr Althouse, the High Country is out here in the mountains of North Carolina.

Thank you and good night.

I find it amusing when people deride the legalization tactics pertaining to MMJ, yet they have nothing to say about the racism employed by the prohibs to steer public opinion toward pot prohibtion, the falsities in the movie "Reefer Madness", and all the other anti-potpropaganda foisted on the public since the 1920's and 30's.

Then there's the irony of many modern Christians' disdain for cannibis when there's strong evidence that the oil burned in the lamps in the ancient Hebrew tabernacles contained cannibis. Kind of puts this whole 'drink of the spirit of the Lord' in a different light, doesn't it.

Google kaneh bos.

Dude, conspiracy theory much? I support legalization and I believe that the medical movement is largely a euphemism for getting a buzz legally. Of course it helps some people with their medical issues, but it helps more reach a state of pleasant intoxication.

TMink, The largest paid lobby opposing cannabis legalization is the liquor industry. You could look it up if you were able to read. And, even if you can't read, it's pretty basic to understand people smoking weed drink less booze. The legal industry lobby spend bucks opposing because it's a loss of jobs for them. You must be standing on your head because you're talking out of your ass!!

....... what's interesting to me about the photo is the bland normality of the storefront. A retail Mary-ja-wanna store w/ no bars on the windows or door.
..... yay Leadville ! The last of the scuzzy mountain towns !!
