Ronald J. Blair, 56, of Jefferson, told police that he hadn't intended to pop a balloon that was held by protester Leslie Peterson on July 25 but that he snapped and "it just happened," according to a criminal complaint filed in Dane County Circuit Court....
[Blair told Peterson] he was tired of retrieving balloons from the Capitol....

Is this the same as Disorderly Choking while short armed?
Get that man the best legal team in Wisconsin.
I suggest the lawyers who usually get Dairy Farmers off for Disorderly Cattle Drives.
His defense is sudden anger syndrome triggered by being surrounded by herds of stubborn bovines. The dairy farmers will understand and udderly pardon him.
Terror Alert!
This guy has to be a member of the Tea Party!
Is it the same charge if he's Republican?
Issue them Red Rider BB guns.
They won't put their eye out. Promise, Mom.
"He said Peterson followed him down the stairs screaming"
Bully/coward bureaucrat confronts passive/aggressive lefty. Hilarity ensues.
What kind of childhood did this guy have. Was he abused or molested? Better check it out. The evil Kochs will get him off.
Blair later told police that he had used a blade on his multi-tool to pop the balloon, the complaint states.
The lesson, I take it, is clear? Never use your multi-tool on a balloon. Pop the protester.
What the hell is the matter with you cheeseheads? Can't the leg or the capitol administrater just ban balloons, stickers, and other destructive items from the building? I mean come on.
Blair, an assistant director of the Division of State Facilities, was charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail. The charge was enhanced because Blair allegedly used a dangerous weapon, adding another potential six months in jail.
A year's time for popping a bleeding heart's balloon is a drop in the bucket compared to what they threw at Casey Anthony.
Amazing. In the space of less than a year, Wisconsin has managed to make Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama seem like the paragon of enlightenment.
Fuck all y'all.
The black hearted balloons will be popping next Tuesday evening.
The ol' "he snapped and 'it just happened'" defense, eh?

Is Joan Jett playing the Coliseum?
Hawt!
Do they have the actual balloon that was allegedly popped? Were there witnesses who can corroborate the assertion that he didmthe deed? I think there are a lot of questions a jury might be interested in hearing the answers to. He should keepnhis mouth shut in the meantime.
This is a parody, but I'm not entirely sure who or what is being parodied. Officious state officials, officious law enforcement, officious protestors? It's not the slippery slopes but the porcelain swirls that finally do you in. People in Wisconsin have an awful lot of free time in the summer.
@garage
...and the horse you rode in on.
I was there on Friday. They have now set up a net at the base of the dome ceiling to prevent balloons from going all the way to the top. I can't imagine being the person who had to install it, though...
Doesn't the "while armed" part of the charge put him (if convicted) on Federal "Not Allowed to Purchase a Firearm" List for the rest of his life?
Balloon Popping Dog. Just a suggestion.

That's the wet dream of every good Madison liberal.

You're always more tuned into Madison than Madison. Amazing! You're like Amphibious or something.
Disorderly conduct sounds right, but I hope he doesn't do any time for it.
The guys littering the balloons shouldn't do time, either. Fines should suffice.

Jesus Christ, I'm tired of this "Wisconsin" crap. We are talking about Madison liberals here.
If he worked at Walmart's he would have been fired.
What you see, here, however, is how many people are paid to "handle" the complaint. And, all the meetings they had on the taxpayer's dime.
What happens when the pool of government workeers shrinks ... because cities, and local governments will run out of money?
Yes. More unemployment. Not less.
And, ecnomies that will be done the old-fashioned way. Less regulation. More bartering between locals.
Which is as it should be.
Jobs that are local cover a blend. Where, locally, you'll be able to find everything you need. Except a public office.
It's gonna get a whole lot uglier before it gets better, though.
