At the Drowned Lollipop Café...

P1010782

... let's put an end to all our sorrows.

ADDED: Commenters think this message sounds suicidal. Not at all! You drown your sorrows. It's just a phrase to go along with a submerged lollipop. The café posts are just open threads, and the message is intended to be a riff on the photograph that essentially says: Go ahead and talk about anything you want.

The country would be better off if Soros went away. He has taxed us the most.

It's always an option.

"Self-murder"...really?

I hope you're not thinking about harming yourself.

Ah, in 4-years, some marketing troll will use the comments distribution list to send out its marketing gimmick of the day.

Of course not! It's a café! You drown your sorrows by drinking.

I'm having lemonade myself.

Ann Althouse said...

Put an end to your *sorrows,* not your life. That's overkill.

Unless you're not mentioning there's vodka in it you are doing it wrong.

And you didn't say "drown". You send "end".

Since this is from Wisconsin, I have to assume some crazed mob thought the lollipop might be Republican and threw it in the river as part of an ancient trial.

How long does it have to sit on the bottom until it's deemed safely Democratic?

Someone jump in and save that lollipop!

Hagar said...

Since this is a cafe.

The dotcom bubble broke in the spring of 2000 so George W. "inherited a lousy economy" from the Clintons, which then showed a steady improvement through the Bush years until the mortgage bubble broke in the summer of 2008, and Obama"inherited a lousy economy" from W., which then, as of today, have more or less recovered under Obama.

Probably does not mean much, but I thought I would mention this while I had it on my mind.

Original Mike said...

"Go ahead and talk about anything you want."

I did.

Captain America would save that lollipop.

I have a question. Are there any hockey fans on this blog? If so, are the playoffs still going on at this time, which would be Aug. 2? Or are these reruns?

Have you started a Facebook Page for the Drowned Red Lollipop?

Drowning one's sorrows only means a heavy libation.

Presumably, the only ones contemplating ending it all today are the Lefties.

Unmanned US Predator or Reaper strike aircraft killed 15 al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters yesterday in an attack in a village outside the terrorist-controlled city of Zinjibar in southern Yemen.

I'm really glad that Hillary! and obama have opened up a new military action in another country.

Hagar said...

Though I do not remember "the economy" being all that bad under W. At least I was working, and if I am working, it is because a bunch of other people are working.
Today, I am not working, and won't be for some time, since all those other peoples are not doing anything yet.

Perhaps "the economy" and the stockmarket is not quite the same thing. At least it seems there are ways to stoke the stockmarket without its having much effect on "the economy."

Suicidal? Not to this diabetic! You ate off all the whipped cream, though. And,you're at the part where they piled on the pecans.

Not the same without whipped cream.

When I was a kid I never understood why dessert came at the end of the meal. Maybe, I still don't.

YUM. The ice cream underneath can be anything from rocky road's chocolate. To strawberry. To my absolute favorite: MINT!

It could have been worst.. If the Tipping Point phenomena is true, conservatives will look back on this debt battle as a major victory.

Just the fact that most people seemed to know the crushing number.. I believe this was not true before.

Its anecdotal, but in passing conversations here in NJ and NYC with mostly libs, it is the amount of debt, (not the 'evil cuts') that elicited animated comments.

Again, anecdotal.. but it feels as if we have turned a corner.

ricpic said...

When anybody writes "It could have been worst," Meade, that wisenheimer, always posts "You mean it could have been wurst, don't you?" So childish, tsk tsk.

I listened to Obama's speeches on the news tonight. He made it clear.

Obama is running against DC and the GOP's 8 months of control over the House of Representatives.

He wants to be elected so that he can to go to Washington and fix it.

Amazing.

Long over. Don't you remember the Vancouver riots when the Canucks blew a 3-2 series lead, losing game 7 in Vancouver?

Ann Althouse said...

My sorrows are flimsy creatures, vulnerable to a mere sip of lemonade.

Meade and I have been married for 2 years, tomorrow.

@May Bee LOL

Thanks, George. I do remember the riots.

Why did lollypop throw herself into the river? Everybody said she was so sweet! Maybe she was just licked.

Come back to that spot tomorrow and see if she has dissolved and gone to heaven.

Here's some "LOVE" from Scott Adams of Dilbert fame.

"My hypothesis is that the best indicator of long term economic health is the number of engineers a country produces relative to the number of lawyers. A country that is cranking out more engineers than lawyers will trend up. A country that is moving toward a lawyer-heavy economy will grind to a stop."
