3 big Obama fund-raisers in the Hamptons are threatened by Hurricane Irene.

Will this beleaguered man's troubles never end? It's as if all of nature is aligned against him! Where is the mercy? Irene! Hit North Carolina, scatter the sands of the Jersey Shore, but for God's sake, leave the Hamptons alone!

In the movie, Blazing Saddles, the cowboys say: We do not need the badges.

The top-notch, unparalleled, most distinguished, royal-blue, Obama campaign does not need fund-raisers. People will just give online, without any reason. This is how people went to Iowa to watch baseball (in the move, Field of Dreams). Voters all over our fair nation are seriously and genuinely committed to re-elect the POTUS.

I hope so.

ALL politicians always have their hands out for money.

I'm not so sure this is at all unusual.

It's not very different in the ways monarchs ran their courts. You got there because you showered gifts on the king. And, you paid off those around him, too.

I think our Founding Fathers understood this. What they tried canceling out were the establishment of aristocrats who kept out "commoners."

And, in the beginning? The ball was passed back and forth ... until Andrew Jackson won. And, then his first win was stolen from him.

Americans should always remain vigilant.

Harder to do, now, because there are so many corporations at the table. And, too many people like the Disney facade.

If Obama wins in 2012 ... it's not because he gets to the money ... But because people will choose him over the next guy.

Oh. And, to keep everybody interested in the race, it will look so close, we'll be told he's not winning, at all. (And, I don't believe hype.)

Uh, oh less Obama money! Who's gonna pay for this now?

I only saw mention of Republican fundraisers in the article.

Obama in the Hamptons, on economic growth, or the lack of it...

"I was in the pool! I was in the pool!"

Sixty Grit, you are an old geezer, and I can see you cry in' after Obama wins everywhere in the USofA next Nov. You are clueless. Your friends will vote for POTUS without any reason. Your co-workers will give money without any reason. You have no idea. None.

Now, take a look here.

You must be joking Althouse. If not, isn't it about time he "Lincolned-up" and spoken something for the ages? Otherwise, it just sounds like you're plugging him out of mercy.

Original stinking badges clip.

Blazing Saddles ripped off the clip. Still funny if not original.

True Obama worshipers will brave the hurricane and laugh in the face of 'global warming' to throw money at the feet of their tin pot god.

Schadenfreude FTW!!!

Peter Wehner has a statistic laden reply to Jonathan Alter:

“Tell me again why Barack Obama has been such a bad president?” Jonathan Alter writes in his column.

It is a fantastic read, if you are so inclined.

After looking at the article, I noticed that it was two Romney fundraisers and one for alleged Republican John Huntsman that were cancelled. Presidential candidate fundraisers, not presidential ones, technically.

Republican fundraisers, to be sure, but Herbert still had to end his golfing a day early.

Is there no end to this man's trials?

Jeff - Great article. Definitely a must read.

BTW - you're last name isn't Hahn is it?

I read that Barry and Michelle left in different planes again.

I get the feeling he's not really a hurricane man.

Oh those poor men! Why must nature hate Romney and Huntsmen.

I saw we elect them president because we feel sorry for them. Then when they fail miserably we can re-elect them to give them another chance. It's only fair.

@Dad - - wrong guy (and do not know him either). But if Mr. Hahn thinks the same way I do, I'd like to meet him.

Did you dream this yourself, or was it your illegal nanny?

Tell me, does she speak english? Does she sit up to eat?

You are a complete moron.

America Politico, big fan, but your long lowercase posts lack the punch of your short, pithy all-caps, fractured English posts. Less is more from you, in my opinion.

By any chance are you a former Saddam loyalist expatriate? You seem to favor the strongman dictator who wins elections with 100% of the vote.

In the movie, Blazing Saddles, the cowboys say: We do not need the badges.

Oh boy, where to start. Points for trying to quote Blazing Saddles, but you butchered it. 'We don't need no stinking badges!' is the most popular and recognizable form. As with many things in our post-modern age, this is a quote of a quote of a quote, originally in novel form, then in the 1950's movie Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and then ripped off in countless other movie and TV shows.

Stick to the Soviet-style propanda! It's your strong point.
