Wu...

... through.

The Democrats can't have this tiger-suit-wearing target of accusatory phone messages attracting attention in the midst of all their woes.

What's the story behind the tiger suit? Doesn't seem like a hanging offense to me.

Well, considering his resignation will be effective as soon as the debt crisis issue is over, where did you come up with this drivel?

But he'll be replaced by another Chinaman. HU? Maybe so.

It will still be a demorapic house seat. The axe won't fall close to the chair, though.

While over in france Dominique is still a contendah.

Poor Wu. Too sick for jokes. At least he didn't dress up like a policeman. And, shoot anybody.

I hear they're working on a deal for a video game based on Wu's escapades. It'll be call the Wu Wii.

I still would like to get to the bottom of this "unwanted" sexual encounter. No one (not even this whacko lib) deserves to have their name dragged through the papers for something that may have been concensual.

Maybe a little too much Wu Wu for him to handle.

Hu could be next?

Maybe they go R next time.

D seems to be the wong wei.

As one of his constituents....good by and good luck! What a train wreck. But no chance it will go Right, to suburban and educated. Not enough rural votes. so Wu hoo we have shed some dead baggage before the election.

Funny how the Dems all immediately point to Sen Vitter when things like this crop up. The fact that Vitter confessed to what he had done with an adult female at the time, asked for forgiveness, ran for re-election and re-elected by a large margin evidently is not on their radar while Wu had "consensual" sex with a teenager and then tried to hide it all as did Spitzer and Weiner. The two situations are not comparable at all but the Dems don't seem to see that.

I did not realize he was so important to the debt ceiling 'debate' that he needs to stay on past his sell-by date. Is a very close vote expected?

I'm also a constituent. It strikes me as a very sad story. I strongly suspect that some combination of mental illness/substance abuse is involved. Hopefully, away from the stresses and general insanity of DC, he can piece his life back together.

traditionalguy said...

Why can't these lonely Dems just pay for it.

Why do they feel like they can get away with attacking friends and family?

Is it on their prepaid Verizon Plan?

G Joubert said...

I'm also a constituent. I've had the the pleasure of voting against him 7 times. But the sad truth is the voters of my district re-elected him twice after being informed he was a sexual predator. My attitude is, the voters asked for him knowing that, they got him, and so now they deserve him for the duration. Then let him run for re-election again in 2012. Maybe they'll choose a little wiser in the future.

Even if he did not do this there are other reasons for him to go once he saves us from this debt crises (TIC)

What's sad is that his constituents are so stupid and race-obsessed that they'd elect this sleazebag to begin with.

A sex scandal without a porn star is like an egg without salt. Wu get a few points for having a punnable name, but that man is no Weiner.

"The Democrats can't have this tiger-suit-wearing target of accusatory phone messages attracting attention in the midst of all their woes.".

When Althouse defends a congressman, it is the kiss of death: first Weiner, now Wu.

Wu admitted that he raped a woman back when he was in college. Is it so far fetched that his current accuser might be telling the truth (especially when you consider that the accuser is a family friend of Wu's, not a gold digger or political enemy)?

Althouse mentions that Wu has worn a tiger suit, presumably as a way to avoid mentioning that Wu is being treated for his psychological problems. These problems were so severe that his staff cancelled all his public appearances at the end of his 2010 election campaign rather risk exposing Wu to the public.

What is pathetic is that Wu can run an election campaign and win that election without disclosing any of the details of his psychological problems.

Wu's district is in the metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon, a city that becomes more like Santa Monica every year. Wu has been a completely undistinguished representative during his 6-1/2 terms, voting straight party line, always following, never leading. His constituents don't care. They just want someone with a (D) after their name, and they don't much care who it is.

I don't get the fuss over the tiger suit---I think it was a Halloween gag. And I thought outing this latest uncorroborated story was unfair untiol we heard more. But it has been about a week now, and Wu has not only not denied the "unwanted sexual encounter" (isn't there another term for that?) but has now annpounced his resignation, so I think all of those rushing to defend him for this latest bit of "odd behavior" can safely shut up now.

He'll be replaced by another Dem drone who will also vote as he's told, which will again be good enough for the paleoliberal NPR crowd in the Portland suburbs.

Victor Erimita:

I've lived in the 1st District of Oregon for 38 years, since I got out of the navy. I know it well. It's not necessarily as blue of a district as you think. It was a solidly safe Republican seat from the day of its creation in 1893 (Oregon had one at-large representative before 1893), and it elected seven straight Republicans, the most recent of which was Wendell Wyatt who retired in 1974, the "Watergate" election year. If Wyatt had run again he probably would've won anyway, but he didn't and for the first time a Democrat, Les AuCoin, won the seat, which he held for 18 years. AuCoin was followed by another Democrat, Elizabeth Furse, who held it for 6 years, when she stepped down. Wu has had it since 1999. The Republicans have fielded a weak slate of candidates, probably because the Republican Party is so weak in Oregon overall. If they ran a decent candidate they could win it.

Phil 314 said...

Well the "politician in a scandal and mention of party affilliation" rule seems to apply in this piece. Though one could assume given the mention of Nancy Pelosi, Wu's party affilliation was not mentioned.

Just sayin'

You suspect? Considering he has admitted to both, that's really going out on the limb there Sherlock. My guess is that once freed from the constraints of office he will not get better, but actually be self propelled into outer space. Think Amy Winehouse in tiger jammies.

You voted for him, didn't you?

"Unwanted sexual encounter" - Will this become a commonly used term now?

What's that event in Libya called?

"kinetic military action"

Oh well. I wonder if he can change his mind after the debt ceiling issue is resolved. He's not gone yet.

So, I assume he retires to his full pension. No investigation, etc.
