Intimidated by Liberty.

P1000038

Yesterday at the protests, the Statue of Liberty got in face. Stopped. Loomed over me. And swooped down at me.

Live free or die, baby. Die, possibly speared on those Liberty head-spikes. Of papier maché.

I suspect Lady Liberty was taken there against her will.

Golden retirement benefits or die!

Lifetime job security or die!

Bleed private sector workers to pay my above market wages or die!

What martyrs are those Wisconsin public employees?

And, they are doing it for that most noble of causes... their own pocketbooks.

Oh, this changes everything. I support the greedy parasites now.

Anyone know if LaFollette is going to publish the law or if we are going to be treated to some new shenanigan?

You have to watch the folds of the robe. Lady Liberty is packin' in WI now. 49 down, 1 to go. And this last one will be doozy.

Assuming it's possible w/ Blogger, was Althouse using her phone to (w/o even reading them) delete Mary's comments at the same time she was almost impaled by SOL?

Like a timid general afraid to commit his most potent force until it was too late for it to do any good, the protestors waited far too long to deploy their paper mache puppet divisions.

Using Lady Liberty to squelch free speech/assembly, eh? Almost as classic "Madison" as this jackass in a pink dress playing tough guy.

Give me public-sector unions or give me death.

I don't quite get the "freedom" meme.

How about making union mambership and dues voluntary- like 'most every other private organization?

Lincolntf said...

The "freedom" sign doesn't mean squat to these people. They're just desperate to latch on to any phrase or idea that resonates. They've co-opted the Civil Rights movement, Mideast unrest, etc. in order to puff themselves up, they'll do the same with grand ideas. No honesty, no integrity, no real principles motivate these people. Only power and money.

You did it! You blew it up! Oh, goddamn you, goddamn you all to hell!

Freedom from deductibles and co-pays, I believe.

Reminds me of the sculpture where Perseus had just beheaded Medusa.

In that case, very apt.

Not such a great rendition of Lady Liberty, is it? Not technically speaking, and not in terms of capturing the essence.

Where's the bad art tag?

Liberty (personified) being invoked in the defense of mandatory membership and dues-paying to Union management?

Oh, irony! I missed you so.

(It's telling - very telling how much the option of not having to join the Union to work and not being able to automatically take money from worker paychecks scares the Unions.

Telling, at least, in comparison to the invocation of Liberty in defense of that compulsion.)

Sarge:

With all due respect, you need to work on your phonetics (etc.).

So far, Flannery O'Connor and/or Zora Neale Hurston, you aren't (for starters).
