"I'm not sure who makes me laugh more: the Rock....or the guy at the back of the log boat."

"I vote for the guy in the back. A lesser known member of the Rock's entourage."

Via Throwing Things, commenting on "Things I enjoyed during our viewing of Cars 2 more than the movie itself," and all I can say is that if there really is a 3D Morgan Freeman dolphin movie coming, let's hop in the log boat with the Rock and get out of here.

Leaving the theater with my two year old when he got too loud.
Going to the car when he got too loud for the lobby.
Driving to Starbucks for an iced mocha.
Twittering that Cars 2 was bad.
Getting a text from my husband saying that our four year old asked if the movie was "almost over" yet.

But Pixar shouldn't feel too bad about it. They'll still make a billion dollars off the merchandise, and it's the first bad movie they've ever made. Pretty impressive record.

Haven't seen Cars 2 yet as the first one wasn't a huge deal with my kids like Wall-E, Shrek, or Kung-Fu Panda (the latter two were Dreamworks, fyi), but I have no doubt we'll see it.

What's come up recently, speaking of upcoming digital animation movie, Morgan Freeman or not, is the teaser poster for the Pixar project, "Brave". Possibly one of the most layered, intriguing movie posters I've seen in a long, long time.

It's real pretty, but in no way compelling.

About the same as the first movie, then. Not too surprising.

BTW, the link that's supposed to go to Throwing Things just goes to the log boat picture again.

I only watch documentaries. I don't have time for fictional movies, especially this kiddy stuff. Growl...

"Cars 2" lacks everything that made the previous Pixar movies great. There is no heart. There is, however, a strong message against "Big Oil" which will certainly get John Lasseter invited to all the best cocktail parties.

Our impression was that the big oil stuff was crammed in during the final months of production because they saw that the movie had turned out badly and wanted to throw a bone to the critics.

Kids' movies aren't for kids any more. Ever since "Beauty and the Beast", they're all for grown ups.

I just picked up my son from camp. Several of the other parents there were complaining about Cars 2. Very bad word of mouth.

Cars 2 sucked balls. However, the picture of the Rock going down that ride was WIN and it's going to be internet meme'ed into infinity. Oh hell, it's already starting.

wv = trapplog = yeah, that's what the guy in the back feels like. My vote goes to him.

Try Ponyo. Perfect for very young kids. I loved it, too. There is a kind of PC anti-pollution message, but it didn't bother me.
