The fisheye lens gives a cool illusion--it reminds me of the old harbor at Genoa, Italy.

Tomorrow is Saturday. Maybe you and Meade can take a day off the fabulous yard projects and play golf. That sounds like a great idea if I do say so myself.

Very nice and familial. It looks as if it's mid-summer.

I thought I saw it was quite warm up that way, so we'll be getting a nice bit of that soon.

chickenlittle, I don't think it's a fisheye lens. That lens fits the Nikon and this doesn't look like a Nikon photo.

It's not the fisheye. That curve is really there I used a small Panasonic camera.

Blessings on the Irene house for their celebration of 22 years.

For this I offer my new favorite song, Bizness by tUnE-yArDs. Weird and funny and eclectic and joyous.

It usually turns out that way.

Althouse, I hope you don't mind if I set up my table by the lakeside, lay out my prints and try to sell a few for lunch money?

The terminally stupid Mitt Romney actually spoke up today and affirmed that the Global Temperatures are rising and that man's CO2 emissions are the cause. And he is the guy who says that only he can fix the economic trap that we are being locked into thanks to Obama's acting on those same two false assumptions. Romney's mind is a ruined disaster area.

Thanks, everyone!

That's a great album, Pogo.

Somewhat more "difficult" and less well-known, but wonderful is Fripp & Eno's (NO PUSSYFOOTING). I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this record while I'm working in my studio.

verification word: disco. I would love to see a disco play all 20 minutes of "The Heavenly Music Corporation".

Hey, Althousiana. Nice to see you all!

And ever so nice to share an anniversary with Irene and her hubby, who have, collectively, somehow???, "figured it out", sorta.

I am laughing, Irene.

Something tells me that those dogs you got go a LONG way in helping you and the hubby "figure it out". ha ha

Very cool!

KCFleming said...

Palladian, that album and Evening Star are two that are perfect for creative work.

I rarely meet anyone who has ever heard of Fripp, Budd, Cluster, and Eno. Always good to find another fan.

Penny said...

Palladian says, "(NO PUSSYFOOTING)."

And then... Palladian placed his period outside the parentheses, (so it could run away), yet inside quote marks?

Care to explain for the rest of us?

Palladian said...

The album is titled "(NO PUSSYFOOTING)", not "(NO PUSSYFOOTING).", Penny.

Palladian said...

"I rarely meet anyone who has ever heard of Fripp, Budd, Cluster, and Eno. Always good to find another fan."

I've loved their music for years. Eno and Fripp, singly and together, link so many of my music worlds together. I will draw a chart...

Penny said...

In the meantime, it's only right that I tell Althouse that she "spoke to me" with this photograph.

Purposely, or as if, by chance?

Does it matter?

Ha ha

Lighten up, honey bear.

Next thing we know, they'll put us BOTH in charge of the nitpickin' bureaucracy.

Penny said...

I have a plan!

You be in charge of the "bureau".

And I'll be in charge of the "crazy"!

Friday afternoon, I looked out of the window and saw that some art thing had been installed along the riverfront. Meh. It didn't look all that interesting.

After it got dark, I looked out again and noticed that it was a light installation. Interest piqued, I stopped by on the way home.

Photo.

It's one of many Northern Spark events , which gets underway Saturday at dusk.

Peter Hoh said...

Pogo and Palladian, I'm a big fan of that kind of music. Used to listen to a radio show on WXPN that featured Eno, Kitaro, Terry Riley, and others.

Seems like yesterday, but it was 30 years ago.

Can't even remember the name of the show. Damn, I'm getting old.

But I remember enough to find it on Google. Star's End.

Penny said...

Peter?

"Installed art"?

Sounds pretty much like an oxymoron to me. But what do I know?

ha ha

Merely the "cracy" part of Palladian's "bureau".

How about that history lesson from Sarah Palin on Paul Revere?

Jesus Christ. The dumbest fucking piece of shit I've ever seen, and folks at this blog think she'd make an ideal President of the United States and Leader of the Free World. Lord help us.

It's funny when you go over this blog, browsing the comments sections filled with right wingers calling everyone else names. And then you notice that they consider Sarah Palin the greatest politician of our time. A woman who literally does not know a fucking thing about anything! And you wonder about these right wingers. They claim to love the founders of this nation, for example. As if Thomas Jefferson would suffer a fool like Sarah Palin for 2 seconds......

Here, Oaf, is the actual story of Paul Revere from Alan Colmes "Liberalland."

My Goddess, she does not no history. Paul Revere made his ride to warn John Handcock and Sam Addams to hide since they were wanted for treason to the crown. Paul Revere rode through town to warn the colonist also to defend there lands also.

Listen my children and you shall hear the midnight ride of Paul Revere.

Count on the liberals to clarify matters.

Ha ha

Too true, Oaf!

BUT, we like our "bureaus" lined up.... and over there against the wall in our bedrooms where they've always been. >>>>

SLEEPING.

And holding up their underpants.

Penny said...

"Count on the liberals to clarify matters."

Hm?

Having been one, albeit many years ago, I found that liberals EXEMPLIFY "possibility".

"Hope"!

I'll have some of that, please.

And thank you for offering!

This is an amazingly offensive bit of propaganda. It is worth talking about, only because it is so over the top. TOM has some links.

Jeff Goldstein's comment: “Incidentally, when we said never again? We meant it.”

Penny said...

And now..."Good night, Palladian."

"Good night, Penny."

They don't call him oaf for nothing.

For those who missed Fen, or are inclined to buy the oaf's propaganda after it's already been debunked, SHE WAS RIGHT!!!!.

And, better yet, the Lefties, once again, are not only wrong, but shown to be the ignorant, arrogant, intolerant would-be totalitarians Conservatives have been saying they are for about 60 years.

This is why Conservatives love this woman. They may want someone else to be POTUS, but it's fun watching Caribou Barbie rip the Left a new one every time they tangle with her.

Oaf, you ignorant slut, here are Paul Revere's own words:

I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He imediately rode towards those who stoppd us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions, & if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above. He then orderd me to mount my Horse, after searching me for arms

Almost Ali,

Yesterday was a rough day. Your post on the Gurkha really got this day off to a fantastic start. Thanks!

Peter Hoh said...

Penny, yes, you are hinting at the idea that all art is installed -- a framed painting is installed.

Perhaps Palladian could explain it better, but in the art world, an installation is something that's put together or put up for a limited time.

It's something different than sculpture. While three-dimensional, it's usually not something that could just be picked up and moved. The elements have to be put in place, arranged a certain way.

A staging. That might be a better way to think of it. But it's not a performance.

And like anything else in the art world, a great number of installations don't quite work.

So, it appears to have been another "Party like it's 1773!" moment.

Ms. Sarah just coming away from listening to the park ranger's account of the actual history rather than Longfellow's poem and giving a synopsis in her own inimitable style.

The lady keeps getting the last laugh.

@Peter "Used to listen to a radio show on WXPN that featured Eno, Kitaro, Terry Riley, and others."

Count me jealous. We had no such station nearby, but I would run across them when traveling.

Once in the mid 90s I was giving a talk in Appleton WI, and I started out quite late. Around midnight I had still an hour to go and I was searching for ANYTHING on the radio that wasn't horrible when I caught an ambient radio station.

About 15 minutes later it faded out, but I found it again. Or so I thought. This song was more industrial, scratchy, looped, grungey. I loved it.

After 20 minutes I realized I was listening to static that was modulated by the car engine.

One bonus of the echo chamber that is the MSM and Libtard blogosphere is that occasionally, some prole like LoafingOaf will ignorantly hoist himself on his on petard.

Its delicious.

So tell me, Loaf, since Palin was right all along, and you were so very very wrong, shouldn't you apply your standard to yourself?

Find a mirror and repeat what you just said: "The dumbest fucking piece of shit I've ever seen"
