Mostly I use 60w and 40 watt lamps in my study-- which only makes me even more indignant about this mercury-worshipping darkcult idiocy. This gives me a bit more time for the stocking, but to think I've been *destroying Gaia* with my hedonistic 40 watt bulbs! The horror . . . .
I noticed the little appliance bulbs in the fridge and my grandmother's handmedown bedside lamp are 40 watt too. Does the government want people to start putting mercury in the refrigerator?

Used appropriately, nothing wrong with fluorescents, as long as I have an optional choice of incandescent, halogen or even metal halide. The most reliable fluorescent fixture I have - in a shower area - uses a 6 in long folded bulb. It's awkward to change, but I've only needed to once or twice, I forget, in 21 years. Obviously it isn't a weirdly-colored short-lived Chinese-made POS curly CFL. I have a couple of spares and I'm not sure I'll live long enough to need a third.
In a cold climate, a 100W bulb heats a loft or small space at 100% efficiency. They are cheap, you can read by them, they are instant-on, work at low temperatures and don't degrade in time. If the bulb breaks, they self-extinguish.
The nanny state is run by non-scientific idiots and mostly populated by their sheep. How many scientists or engineers are in POTUS, SCOTUS or COTUS? Fewer than 10 out of 545.
There are others I would also like to see there. If nothing else, there should be a Rock and Roll Hall of Great Music, so the likes of Rush, King Crimson (natch), Soft Machine, etc. get their due.
I object to the forced loss of choice. I've no objection to CFLs or incandescent bulbs, however, by choice several years ago, all the bulbs in my home are CFL instant-on full spectrum bulbs.
My brother hated the CFLs until shown the newer full spectrum type and he changed all bulbs in his house in one weekend last year. Our lighting bills have decreased and, both of us having mild depression, have experienced the positive effects of full spectrum lighting. His wife, an artist, appreciates seeing the real colors of materials she works with.
Go to 1000bulbs.com and type in a19 10000 in the search. You will get dozens of different incandescent bulbs that last 12 times as long as the GE bulbs you get at Target, and, bonus, they are much cheaper. Screw you GE and global warming idiots. I'm stocking up.
You can even get 20,000 hour bulbs. I know they last that long because I got some for my elderly dad about 5 years ago and he hasn't had to replace one since.
Thanks for the light bulb link. Just ordered cases of 40, 60 and 100 watt bulbs for future use and distribution.
Don't you just love the myriad of unintended consequences that result from short-sighted government decisions?
All the gov't has to do is tell people in this country that they CAN'T do something, and the response is generally a large symbolic middle finger raised towards the ivory towers of these elites.

Don't overlook 100w 4-pack attic insulation, if you're short of storage space.
I recommend the Kroger 100w 4-packs at $1.19 (up from $0.79 on sale) for this.
You're lighting up my life.
Why do you refuse to evolve? Clinging to Bibles, guns, and incandescent light bulbs. Enemies of the People.
This is, without a doubt, the vilest, most idiotic legacy of the AGW hoax.

I'm really angry with idiotic, northern congress people who don't spend enough time at home to realize CFL's don't work at 20 below zero.
Trying to "fix" an imagined problem just causes another with the demand for rare earth elements

Why 100 watt bulbs?
60's work just fine and don't run up the bill.

I don't doubt Dr Evil is heavily invested in Red China, too.
In other AARP news, 60 Minutes really fresh tonight.

@Crimso
LOL.
Though I consider what you did funny, because I'm a big fan of the boys from Canada, I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit.
BTW did you know that they aren't in the R&R Hall of fame in Cleveland?
So long as this band is kept out, I will never visit.
Both the links in the post go to the "reveal" bulbs. (I bought 2 packs.)
There are others I would also like to see there. If nothing else, there should be a Rock and Roll Hall of Great Music, so the likes of Rush, King Crimson (natch), Soft Machine, etc. get their due.

Take your hands off my light bulbs you filthy government.

I don't even use 100w bulbs, but I ordered a box just in case I want to use some in the future.
I'm annoyed that the government hasn't undone this mistake yet.
Why 100 watt bulbs?
60's work just fine and don't run up the bill.
They've banned those too. and the 40 watts.
LOGIC LESSON
Althouse is to stockpiling incandescent bulbs as "Anonymous in Australia" is to stockpiling websites called althouse.com.
True or false?
Prof. A, your first link doesn't go to basic bulbs, but to the same "reveal" bulbs as in your second link.
What about 3-way bulbs and fixtures? Are they toast?

I truly love this country.
