Why is this a surprise. When moderates rejected Mccain for the extreme Obama, they had to know they were going to make the GOP even more desperate to beat him in 2012, making the GOP far less rigid ideologically.
Oh cripes, pay attention to context. 70-80% of Americans have never heard of Pawlenty, Bachmann, Cain, etc. Everybody knows Rudy. This is a name recognition poll conducted among largely disinterested parties, nothing more.
What's gone terribly wrong, is this blog. It takes forever to load. All I hear is click, click, click... I think it has something to do with the ads on the right hand side.
What a bunch of crap that poll is. It is an "all adult" poll and Giuliani leads 16% to the next one's 15%. It is a name recognition poll of people who most likely will never vote in a Republican primary.
After seeing the first question, I didn't even bother to look for the demographics.
Between Rudy and Sarah, the poll's sample prefer candidates not in the race to Mitt Romney by nearly 2:1.
Romney's only real hope to win the nomination is that no one else running proves credible. That the same strategy worked for McCain against Romney in 2008 doesn't speak wonders for his chances.
hell--I like Rudy--but as I said on earlier thread, tell me who is out in front a year from now--this is all pundit bullshit--we will know who will be the challenger to jug ears, but not this early
Hint for those who care: watch who the MSM gangs up on--thats your clue to who think will be the favorite. When the fucking fellators of the MSM start "fact checking" you will know whom the dems fear most.
If Rudy does run, I certainly hope he tells me what he was doing on 9/11, because I'm a little fuzzy on that subject."
It's so strange to hear a leftist say this in the gutsycall.com era.
Hell, Rudy actually was amazing on 9/11. That says a lot about how he'd handle problems as President. Obama's Gutsycall.com moment doesn't tell us anything except that he waits 16 hours to make a no brainer decision with minimal input.
I've heard more democrats mock Rudy for the 9/11 thing than I've ever heard Rudy mention it.
But that's the meme. If Rudy is mentioned, some bonehead will dust that off and run with it, tiredly.
It never made any sense, though. His performance on the job is a relevant thing to discuss. If you want to look at pathetic attempts to steal glory, just look at Obama spiking the football. Or is this just partisan hackery?
I like Rudy. I would work for his campaign. He's like a sane Trump. I think he is the only one who has the guts to really run against Obama. Mitt will be another McCain.
Law and order, fiscal conservatism, conservative judges. I'm in.
CNN slants everything (news, polls, opinion) in such a manner as to harm the conservative cause as much as possible while maintaining a facade of neutrality. At least MSNBC is upfront in their bias.
Triangle--I interpreted Mad Man's comment as being critical of then Mayor Guiliani's reaction to 9-11--this is rather in the same ball park as the excrebale Shilo's comment about "deer in the headlights."
When you have a catastrophy on the scale of 9-11, good leadership relies first and foremost of getting information about the event before you take action--In both cases Mayor G who was responsible for the immediate local response appears to have done his job--As did President Bush
NO ONE--all the crap about the august briefing notwithstanding, could come to grips to what happened without some information and analysis-
That takes time--you dont respond without information and to the respective leaders credit, they took the time to assess what happened.
I find these criticism to be vapid and uninformed. I mean really--trivial, jejune and woefully ignorant of the real world.
Polls are like the gold standard. There is never ever any shenanagins. Hell, we should just pick Rudy right now as the GOP candidate because he is obviously the leader.
I like Rudy, but he needs to stay on the motivational speeker circuit.

I love Rudy.

Oh wait... they said the opposite? Why?
And I like Rudy too.
He's a patriot. He knows how to administrate.
I'm not in synch with him on policy, but the fiscal problems Obama has aggravated leave me too desperate to be picky.
Something has gone terribly wrong.
With polling data.
Heh. I love Rudy too, but it didn't actually go anywhere last time around, did it? Don't think this will be any different.

What happens when you poll people about something they are (correctly) not paying attention to...
I agree with Lincolntf on this one. These polls are mostly measuring name recognition at this point.
Like I said in another tread.. Rudy is my candidate.. for today.

Plus, don't ever listen to what CNN has to say.
I have never met anyone personally who supports Giuliani.
Whatever questions these polls are this juncture are asking, the respondents are answering one slightly complex question:
Have you heard of this person and do you like him or her.
So, it's purely Q Score, if it even rises to that level.

If Rudy runs the exact opposite of his last campaign, then he might have my vote.

I get the same thing as AllenS.
Lem: Are you guys talking to people in an exotic African dialect by chance?
Last I heard Rudy was pro-choice.. that's why I'm not crazy about him.
But I'm not crazy about the others either.
All I hear is click, click, click... I think it has something to do with the ads on the right hand side.
I'm thinking it might have to do with spyware that Blogger added in when they let Althouse back on air.
All the better to keep a watchful eye on us...
he he.. there was an Australian movie about an object (bottle i think) dropping from an airplane..
I forget the title.
The Gods Must Be Crazy
@Lem
If you can believe it, "The Gods Must Be Crazy" and we are watching it at this moment.
Goofy data, more than likely. Of course MSM lefties want Gooli to run.

Last time out, Rudy was my first choice; now, let's see if he actually does anything.
As for the poll, remember who commissioned it.
The Election Gods Must be Crazy.. sending us a bunch of useless candidates ;)
I have to agree with those saying this is mostly name recognition.
If Rudy does run, I certainly hope he tells me what he was doing on 9/11, because I'm a little fuzzy on that subject.
According to Van Jones, he was running out of Tower 1 with a detonator switch in his hand.
Rudy's America's mayor - not our president.
What could possibly be wrong with a CNN poll?

That wasn't a detonator, it was a Swedish penis pump, baby. He was heading on over to Bernie Kerik's fuck pad for a quick shag.
Mad Man--cheap shot--not like you sir.

"The Gods Must Be Crazy"
Wonderful movie.
I assumed that MadisonMan was making a joke about Giuliani's extensive commentary about what he did on 9/11. Am I missing something/
Rudy's campaign took a disastrous strategy but we all make mistakes-- surely Rudy deserves a second chance far better than Romney?
Who has stronger executive credentials?

yeah--and its catastrophe not with a y
lest I get attacked for spelling or typing.
Rudy is the "None of the above" answer block in CNN's poll. His moment of fame is long gone.
Rudy's not running. He realizes he can't get throught the primaries.
Nothing went wrong.
Someone decided to put in Rudy's name to spice up the poll. Rudy has name recognition, so his name pops up near the top in a widely split field.
This is just bullshit polling looking for a little attention.
I was making a commentary on Rudy's last run, where all his campaign was was Noun Verb 9/11.
Polls are like the gold standard. There is never ever any shenanagins. Hell, we should just pick Rudy right now as the GOP candidate because he is obviously the leader.
I like Rudy, but he needs to stay on the motivational speeker circuit.
But, is Rudy's stammer an intellectual one?
It won't be Rudy.
chickenlittle is right.
Pollsters gotta stop asking, "Name a Republican who is not Mitt Romney."
Giuliani would take Obama apart in a debate. But the evangelicals would hate him even more than McCain.
Rudy didn't run for governor of New York. And, if a candidate can't win the state he's from ... he's toast.
Algore did NOT win Tennessee! That's what put Florida in play. And, Algore LOST Florida!
Rudy can go on the VIEW.
He doesn't have Tea Party votes. And, if you think you know how the 20% of Independents go ... you might as well make an offer on the Brooklyn Bridge.
I can't see Rudy winning, but I'd vote for him over Romney in a heartbeat.
