"Live Inside the Kill Site."

ABC has video showing the interior of the house, replete with rumpled bedclothes and pools of blood.

And here's a description of what Obama called the "firefight":
The raid was conducted by a small helicopter-borne strike team...

... American and Pakistani commandos landed in the area at 1:10 a.m., local time, and raided a house. "The entire area was rocked with a massive explosion... A massive exchange of firing took place which continued for more than half an hour." Security forces have cordoned off the area.

... Mr. bin Laden "did resist the assault force" and was killed in the firefight that ensued as the strike team entered the compound.

Did bin Laden try to use a woman as a shield? Or was bin Laden dressed like a woman trying to escape?

Dr. Z, you are next.

Don't tune away under any circumstances coverage starts.

How soon before Code Pink, International ANSWER, et al ad nauseum are using this as an example of imperialist warmongering? If the GOP were power it would have been yesterday.

Good news would be a dozen more high value targets droned into oblivion each day for a while.

So why did they publish an obviously old photo of a supposedly dead OBL? WHERE are the photos? AP retracts original photo.

1) How sad that:
a. Our nation, once having determined Usama’s location failed to send a UN Negotiating Team and a some DVD’s to open a dialogue between ourselves and Usama, hoping to achieve an open and honest sharing of emotions and views, designed to end our conflict; or barring that
b. Our nation did not send some Interpol Agents, with a valid International Arrest Warrant, to capture Usama and try him before the ICC: or
c. Our nation did not send some US Marshals with a Federal Warrant for arrest and trial in the Federal Court System.
2) How sad that though there was a field large enough to hold four (4) helicopters next to Usama’s compound:
a. Usama failed to string at least on 4-6 mm cable across it to, unobtrusively, obstruct the landing of aircraft; and
b. Usama failed to station at least one (1) .51 caliber or one (1) 12.7mm DshKM to cover the aforementioned LZ (unmanned, but oiled and loaded, laid onto the LZ); and
c. Usama failed to maintain at least one (1) RPG team, disguised as goat herders, to cover the LZ;
d. Usama failed to provide, apparently, at least one barbed wire obstacle between the LZ and the compound, this aforementioned wire obstacle covered by at least one (1) PKM.
3) All these failures bespeak of:
a. A creeping Fascism and Militarism in US Overseas Policy, rather than a Policy based on Openness, Dialogue, and Social Justice;
b. The gross incompetence of Usama.
4) I find b) above worse, if one is to be evil, at least be good at it.

We need body pics. I'm sure we have them.

". The Saudis declined a U.S. offer to take the body,"

I doubt such an offer was made.

LOL. Mick's a deather. A birther and a deather. It figures!

Why would it take 30 minutes for operation. That stuff never takes 30 minutes on a TV show.

Freeman Hunt said...

Just to be clear: I do not want pics because because I doubt bin Laden is dead. I want pics because that is the customary thing. And it's important to show our enemies.

A nearby resident inadvertently live-Tweeted the raid:

"Inadvertently" because he just talked about helicopters and lots of noise. He had no idea what was actually going on until the end.

That’s not true, especially when you factor in the “Slow-Mo” explosions…did Usama outrun any explosions and jump out a window, with a SMG in each hand? On the US side were Chuck Norris, Stallone, Schwarzenegger, or Bruce Willis involved?

Doesn't Sullivan use a CPAP?

Obama signs the death warrent then apologizes to the Muslim world? Why is Obama compelled to step on his dick? How about announcing the operation, the outcome, pat oneself on the back and then STFU?

Tossing OBL's body on a heap for the dogs to pick over would have been appropriate in my book as hundreds of 9/11 families didn't have the opportunity to bury their loved ones according to their religious beliefs.

What an incredible bungle; Michael Yon is right; " Michael Yon writes: “Major mistake. OBL was/is a powerful cult figure who has vanished with no ‘death certificate.’ His body should have been displayed. The only thing more powerful than a living cult leader is one who disappears off the face of the earth. Making his body disappear was a deadly blunder that plays straight into the hero myth. Joseph Campbell couldn’t have written a more terrible ending.”

Fred4Pres said...

Madison Man--he does!

edutcher said...

Have to agree with those saying burial at sea was a huge mistake. Given how conspiracy theories are the food and drink of conversation in the Middle East, not photographing the body will give rise to all kinds of nonsense.

When Uday and Qusay bought it, Dubya made sure everybody saw them.

Love to know more about the circumstances of the shooting. bin Laden alive, as an intel source, would have been worth more than him dead.

Old Chinese proverb - Never count an enemy vanquished until you see his head on a pole outside your gate and his widow weeping beneath it.

PS They should have done to him what British soldiers did to Moslem mutineers in the Sepoy Mutiny. This apology to the Islamic world stuff is for the birds.

PPS There was supposed to be some deniability for the Paks. Kiss the current regime a fond farewell. There will be rioting everywhere in the country.

This is a big mistake.

Limbaugh is calling it a “Big Hut”…Poverty OR Wealth have a comparative component to them, you know. A “poor American” lives better than most Haitians…a “Rich Pakistani” probably doesn’t live a life anything quite like Limbaugh or Arianna Huffington. But compared to their fellows they’re poor or rich.

Hannibal is defeated but Carthage is still there—not to mention Cartagena. There are lots of little Carthages in our own country. We are still at war.
