You couldn't have planned it better. Yesterday, the left—believing they had won—declared that any suggestion of election fraud was ridiculous. Now they're trapped and can't cry fraud without looking ridiculous themselves. The trap snaps shut.
Among things I believe is that Little Zero has the Republicans right where they want him over the budget shutdown.
The CR seems to be the trap the Demos walked into of their own free will. They couldn't wait to replay '95, but the government shuts down because 12 bil in cuts is "extreme".
And where's Little Zero this weekend when he should be trying to get the government up and running?
Williamsburg, on another (!) vacation.
PS This is also at a time when the head for AFRICOM is saying US boots on the ground in Libya may be necessary.
PPS I remember that clip when it first ran, Lem. Good one.
And where's Little Zero this weekend when he should be trying to get the government up and running? Williamsburg, on another (!) vacation.
And here's the kicker: after a government shutdown that sends 800,000 federal employees home for weeks without a paycheck, Congress-critters will be going home for a two-week PAID vacation.
2 1/2 wars, Obama is cutting off pay to the military.
Obama's not shutting down the government. Congress is. You want to shut down the government? Then you'd better be prepared to live with the consequences. Let's see the Tea Baggers explain why they don't want the military to be paid, or everyone else to get their tax refunds.
Kloppy's "victory" declaration was remarkably lame. It made you shake your head that she was going to be [maybe] a supreme court justice. She did not seem very bright - simply reciting talking points over and over.
As to fraud, the democrats claims of no fraud yesterday will not slow them down a bit in claiming fraud tomorrow. For that matter, it probably would not slow down republicans much if the roles were reversed.
Nor should it IF the alleging party has evidence to support it. From what I heard about Wisconsin, I thought it was a given that Kloppy benefited from a few thousand fraudulent votes that could never be proven. I would be at least mildly surprised if the democrats can prove any significant fraud by republicans.
The whole thing is pretty sweet at this point.
Among the funny parts, although really an indictment of Kloppy's character, is that she refused to even criticize the false ad about child molestation when even the victim asked her to. That character flaw probably cost Kloppy the election. She could have taken the high road, kept the low road voters anyway, and persuade some princpled votes to take a shot on her.
I just looove the image of her smugly telling Prosser she wouldn't intervene to pull that ad - when he was practically begging her - in the name of decency:
Serves her right.
Man, I love it when good wins - I simply LOVE IT!!!
Placeholder said... "Obama's not shutting down the government. Congress is."
Not a chance you get away with that. What you mean is, the House is, but we already passed a budget. If your Senate won't agree to it and your President won't sign it, you shut it down. We passed a budget (one, by the way, that you should have passed). Everything else is meaningless spin.
"You want to shut down the government?"
Most of it, yes.
"Let's see the Tea Baggers explain why they don't want the military to be paid, or everyone else to get their tax refunds."
Not that I'm a tea partier—I'm not—but sure, conservatives, libertarians, and tea partiers do want the military to be paid. We want to shut down the problematic parts of the government, not the functions that it ought to perform. Your team is the problem here. We would happily fund the legitimate stuff.
As madawaskan noted in the previous thread, several of us almost immediately noted an anomaly as the count of waukesha county precincts reporting increased significantly while the vote totals stayed the same. I'm surprised APs reporters didn't notice this as they were calling it in.
I wonder if they held them back on purpose to counter the "found ballots." It would be brilliant, hold back bond fide ballots, let the Dems fake enough to just win, then "find" the real ballots.
It is brilliant if they are bona fide ballots. Someone needs to go to jail if they are not.
Many of us noted the problem with Waukesha's votes, Why? Because with Dane and Milwaukee still not reporting, Waukesha was conservatives biggest hope. We were watching their numbers. Then when Waukesha posted 68 more precincts their county totals didn't change. I think there are many more votes still missing from Waukesha County...
Kylos, All the AP was hoping for was a Kloppenberg win. The media has done their role in reporting in decades. Why fact check when the result is what you want? My question is, why are we calling elections based on the information the liberal AP is reporting?
Dane County's problem was that they had something like a 90% turnout. They also have 18,000 ballots with votes for Kloppenburg, that contained no other candidate's check marks. Nada. Just one check mark!
So, yes. This was a game of MATH, and the democraps got snookered. The AP didn't catch it. Because if they did, Kloppy would have gotten 28,000 ballots checked off with her name, and no one else's.
Why did she go out and claim victory when the vote's not certified? Perhaps, she thought there would be a "wave?" And, her support would grow?
Instead, she's tanked.
While there's only one loner being interviewed by Meade. And, he's threatening to bring along 50,000 thugs to make noise.
Hardly likely the union thugs will be back! IF the voters have spoken again; Kloppy lost.
But no one is reporting anything until they see this race CERTIFIED! How long will this process take?
Hey, wingnuts, did you hear that Milwaukee County forgot to tell the AP about all the precincts in the City of Milwaukee east of the river and north of Kilbourn Ave.? Oops. Film at 11!
Obama's not shutting down the government. Congress is.
If by "Congress" you mean "Harry Reid", then you'd be right. House Republicans have passed a CR to keep the government working, they've even passed a budget. What have Senate Democrats done? Nothing.
Klopper Like the Two-Fisted Slopper Half-Cocked Claimed Victory O’er Prosser She Dropped Some Stinky Trots Ploppers That Required a Floor Mopper When She Learned that the Voters Had Stopped Her.
Lem, I think you are correct, but I wonder how she will reconcile a recount request when she said that she won with a 204 vote total. This should be good.
By the way......honestly....I didn't think Prosser (the good guy) would win a recount down 204 votes. It just doesn't work that way. So Kloppy really doesn't win down as far as she is.
I hear you klopin' But you can't come in I hear you klopin' Go back where you been
Lem...you Krack me up. Plus old Julio singing "If you go away" brought back Rod McKuen memories. (Man in shorts warning) Turns out Rod is alive and writing songs at 77.
I'll tell you waht happened.. at the end of the preliminary vote count - UNOFFICIAL .. Klopper's campaign advisers told her to declare victory.. and Klopper like a good liberal tool did waht she was told.
Kloppenberg is the last person you want in a Supreme anything.
Obama's promised to veto the continuing resolution over the tiniest smidge of a cut, so yes, he absolutely is responsible for a government shut down.
Jeez.
The democrats were supposed to pass their budget before the 2010 election, but didn't want to take responsibility for one. They own this shutdown as simple dereliction of their duty.
Democrats will have you believe it's not Reid's fault, since Obama promised to veto it anyway, so why should reid bring it to a vote. And they will have you believe it's not Obama's fault, since Reid hasn't passed it anyway. It's just a pathetic attempt to keep things complex enough that everyone can pretend it isn't their fault.
Only lookee here, the GOP actually did pass a budget and a continuing resolution, doing the democrat's job from last year for them, and so it actually isn't their fault.
And Obama's still using his authority as commander in chief to threaten the finances of military families, in hopes he can use that as a bargaining chip for planned parenthood funding.
Of course, if the GOP actually plays ball and this gambit pays off, the president has yet another new executive power to abuse, and military pay will be threatened again and again and again.
Sad, sad times, as the democrats use what's left of their time in power, in utter desperation. These are not the actions of a confident political party.
"What is it about you people that makes you lie so effortlessly
Placeholder, twice today you told provable lies, and then fled the thread when it was demonstrated.
The reason someone said Dane had 90% is that they misunderstood a statistic. Dane had 90% of their last election total show. It's an unusual metric, and obviously a good faith mistake, rather than an effortless lie. But then you know all about lying.
Really, it's time for you to start a new commenter handle. You've burned up all your credibility.
Yesterday, the left—believing they had won—declared that any suggestion of election fraud was ridiculous. Now they're trapped and can't cry fraud without looking ridiculous themselves. The trap snaps shut.
Yesterday, the right—believing they had lost—declared that any suggestion that this election was legitimate was ridiculous. Now they're trapped and can't claim everything is on the up and up without looking ridiculous themselves. The trap snaps shut.
"Among the funny parts, although really an indictment of Kloppy's character, is that she refused to even criticize the false ad about child molestation when even the victim asked her to. That character flaw probably cost Kloppy the election. She could have taken the high road, kept the low road voters anyway, and persuade some princpled votes to take a shot on her."
This is true. There's something more to this issue that we're not seeing, and I think it has a lot to do with Prosser's personal animus towards Kloppy's former boss. I think this relentless molestation nastiness is some kind of dig that has been made by Kloppy's pals, and she is beholden to them, so she couldn't very well take the high road by calling this attack despicable.
So she just says 'this isn't the topic right now', leaving the attack uncondemned. And yes, this obviously is what cost her the election. It proved she was some kind of compromised nutcase.
One thing her interviews show is that she is oddly inflexible.
"Yesterday, the right—believing they had lost—declared that any suggestion that this election was legitimate was ridiculous. Now they're trapped and can't claim everything is on the up and up without looking ridiculous themselves. The trap snaps shut."
It's not really an apples to apples comparison, though.
With a tiny margin, after democrat election fraud is a fact of WI life, everyone expects, before and after Prosser pulled ahead, that democrats cheated to some extent.
If you seriously don't suspect hundreds or more felons, out of state students, etc voted for democrats, you're out of touch with reality.
It's the dems who flipped, and yes, it's pretty bizarre, because this town obviously voted, and was counted, and there was just a reporting error.
By all means, though, if you're worried about voter fraud, let's reform elections. huge penalties for voter fraud. Voter ID. Sting operations against all levels of election processing, from registration to reporting, to ensure everyone does their job.

placeholder, like I said before, you told lies today, so the things you say, which are invariably radical accusations, aren't impressing anyone anymore.
OK guys, I just got this stupid computer, so I had to install a pdf reader just to read placeholder's link, with his proof of election fraud.
Only, his link says absolutely nothing supporting what he claimed it said. There's not a pixel about any ballots marked solely for Prosser in any counties.
Placeholder has now provably lied 3 times on this blog today. I wonder how many blogs he's doing this to.
By any means necessary to get those awful 'teabaggers', eh? You seem upset!
OK guys, I just got this stupid computer, so I had to install a pdf reader just to read placeholder's link, with his proof of election fraud.
Making it up again, I see. I never alleged "election fraud." On the contrary, I don't think there was election fraud, and have written as much several times here. What is it about you wingnuts that makes you love the lie so much?
"Making it up again, I see. I never alleged "election fraud." On the contrary, I don't think there was election fraud, and have written as much several times here. What is it about you wingnuts that makes you love the lie so much?"
You specifically made a claim about this pdf you linked, but that claim is not supported by the pdf you linked. You said thousands of votes were marked only for Prosser, but that's a lie... there's no evidence for that at all. The implication you were making is that these thousands of ballots with only Prosser marked (Which do not exist) were fraudulent. you can pretend you didn't say that, I guess, but I'm calling you out for being a repeat liar. It's no surprise you just turn around and say I'm some 'wingnut' 'teabagger' who is the real liar. No big deal to me, since anyone can click your link and download that pdf and see for themselves that it's a single page, simple total, obviously with different totals for each.
You think it's cute to be this aggressive, but you're totally unpersuasive. All you're doing is displaying a lack of respect. Do you really think I care that another jackass on the internet is rude?
You think it's cute to be this aggressive, but you're totally unpersuasive. All you're doing is displaying a lack of respect.
Oh please. There were 20,000 more votes in the Supreme Court race than in the nearest other one.
Okay, so let's compare that with what your wingnut source said about Dane County, i.e., that there were 10,000 ballots with no votes other than the Supreme Court race.
I think your wingnut source got that here, by comparing the total votes for Supreme Court (182,382) with total votes for Dane County Executive (171,718). It's the only way he could've done it, because he wasn't there.
The gap in Waukesha County, which cast fewer votes, is 20,000, but like the good, fang-dripping wingnut you are, you run away from any fact that you find inconvenient. So tell me, do you lie naturally, or did they have to teach you?
" Okay, so let's compare that with what your wingnut source said about Dane County, i.e., that there were 10,000 ballots with no votes other than the Supreme Court race."
My source? Can you please link a single comment of mine that has made this claim? I've never said a thing about it. Now, you're not only putting words in my mouth, but telling me where I got the information I didn't discuss?
"like the good, fang-dripping wingnut you are, you run away from any fact that you find inconvenient. "
What in the world? You've really demonized me over my claims, but I never made those claims. You're freaking furious about it, too! Why?
"Oh please. There were 20,000 more votes in the Supreme Court race than in the nearest other one."
What's the 'nearest other one'?
You have a lot of things you need to prove to make your weak claim work. you need to prove that every ballot had all those other races on them, when they sure sound like subsection races. you need to prove that the counts have been updated for all those races. you need to prove that there were ballots with nothing marked on them but Prosser votes.
You haven't shown that, and because I've shown you're lying, you have decided to be extremely aggressive and angry instead of reasonably explaining yourself.
Hey, you're admitting you know there wasn't fraud now, so I guess you were just being a goofball who is totally intolerant of Tea Partiers and conservatives (that you have silly little names for, just to prove how bad we are!).
Your pdf didn't say what you lied that it did, period.
Hey, you're admitting you know there wasn't fraud now
I've been consistent throughout on that issue. I've never thought there was fraud. Didn't think so when she was ahead, didn't think so when it shifted. You're implying otherwise.
Tell me, what is it about you wingnuts that makes you love the lie so much? Is it nurture or is it nature?
It would be very odd if thousands in Madison voted, but didn't vote for Mayor, I admit. I have no idea if that happened. Is there a link to a story about this? Was it just another rumor?
Placeholder has defined the account of this happening down to the most asinine level, but I guess that was intentional.
"Looks like lots of ballots in Waukesha with votes for just the Supreme Court race. Fraud!"
I am not being a liar to interpret this as you claiming there was fraud. I think it's hilarious that you're so outraged I noted your link doesn't prove what you said, and your hysterical fraud claims were stupid.
Yeah, I know, you're trying to say both Republicans and Democrats cheat, and alternating that with saying it's absurd anyone cheated (which is wrong... I would bet my house that hundreds of out of state students and felons voted again).
You want to be able to dismiss your own comments as satirical, so how dare I prove that your link doesn't back up your claims.... while screaming that I'm a liar for claims I never even made. Apparently I can't take your comment at face value, but you get to condemn me for comments I never made.
Look, I probably don't have the stamina to keep up with this. You're a bitter nutcase who is a sore loser, hates the tea party (the most powerful force in American politics today, much unlike unions), hates conservatives, and you're just going to keep screaming and screaming into your monitor all night.
Maybe you should stop worrying about politics so much. You're witnessing a huge sea change to the right. Wisconsin is a red state now. You will be happier if you focus on a new hobby.
"Do your own work. Or are wingnuts allergic to work, too?"
Let me get this straight. You bring up a rumor (that you falsely claimed I brought up) and then you debunk it in an really vague, bizarre fashion, while making a simultaneous sloppy counterexample that was pretty goddamn dishonest.
And I've got no idea where this initial claim came from that you brought up and then debunked, to your satisfaction anyway.
And when I ask what the hell you're talking about, you tell me I'm lazy?
It seems like you're so crappy at winning arguments that you're just arguing against boogeymen you made up. Sure... somewhere on the internet I'm sure someone has made a claim approximately similar to what you debunked. But you don't get to be the objective authority on both sides of this claim. It's pathetic, given your weird hostility to conservatives.
And you're really really concerned with the honesty of others. I think the reason is that you have no idea how anyone manages a conversation without lying a bunch of times.
you probably have some kind of mental problem, friend.
Oh geez, Inquisitor, just embrace traditional values. Do your own work and tell the truth. I do realize how novel these concepts are to Wingnut Nation ("You mean to tell me I should practice what I preach? Are you nuts?"), but really, you get the hang of it after a while.
Anyway, it's late, and I'm off to bed. Have a wonderful time doing whatever it is you people do at night.
You told a long series of lies, and when asked about them, explode with rage, and then you try to sarcastically laugh it off.
I have googled the issue you claim to have debunked and I have found absolutely nothing on the topic. There's one comment at gateway pundit claiming there is a "rumor". I asked you to back up your claim, the "wingnut lie" that you claim you debunked, and you can't do that for me?
The laugh it off act doesn't work after you flew into that rage just a few comments up thread. I really got under your skin for merely pointing out your pdf didn't say what you claimed it did. You obviously think conservatives don't deserve even the respect of an honest conversation, but the main person you've trolled in this thread is yourself.
Anyway, for the record, you said I was the one who brought up these claims, and now you're saying I'm too lazy to have ever seen them. That's quite a mess of lies you've got there.
It's the information age, which is why conservatives have started kicking liberal asses at the ballot box. Who knows, maybe you pushed a vote or two tonight. Trust me, you didn't push them to the left.
interstin this kloppenberg got near a quarter of a million votes more than old walker got when he ran fer gov. but the sarge digresses- now this hear niklaus chick is a amazin piece of work an if she was a demo an found 7k votes for old klopp in her personal computer just the right amount to avoid a recount on thar tax payers dime an was a unindicted immunity from prosecution awardee in a certain partisan crime and was also a hiree of and close personal friend of old klopp- an best of all had a history of secrecy and oddly botched elections...well you teabag boys wud be crying fer yer second amendment solutions now wouldnt yar?
Yes, sarge, if someone 'found' 7000 votes that would be pretty damn suspicious.
Of course, the democrats concede that 0 votes were found. Apparently, this town really does exist, and some people there voted basically in the same way as surrounding areas! Imagine that!
While you're suggesting there was voter fraud, what really happened was an error in reporting, due to a spreadsheet not being saved. Again, this has been looked at and there's no fraud here.
I guess you know that, hence the sarcastic attempt to make an accusation without being a man about it and saying it directly.
No, Tea Partiers do not attempt to murder people over this kind of thing. As far as I know, the people being arrested for death threats are liberals.
The right has seen an awful lot of voter fraud. ACORN folks have been convicted more than 20 times of election fraud.
Deal with it. Your side cheats a lot, gets violent a lot, and is a lot nastier in its argumentation (you're a great example).
BTW, I was a Sergeant myself at one point, and I don't understand what makes you think that works with your attempt to portray some extremely stupid redneck violent tea partier. I guess you're just trying to spit on veterans.
Now's time to deny you meant what you said and laugh at me for rebutting you.
Have a little pity for Placeholder. He's hurting badly. His dreams of a left-wing/union resurgence that sweeps Walker and the Republicans out of power got trashed tonight. All the energy and momentum of weeks of stomping around the capital grounds just fizzled. It's a bitter thing to accept, I'm sure.
Placeholder said... Obama's not shutting down the government. Congress is. You want to shut down the government? Then you'd better be prepared to live with the consequences. Let's see the Tea Baggers explain why they don't want the military to be paid, or everyone else to get their tax refunds
Um, silly girl: The Democrats control 2/3rds of the government.
They are shutting it down and refusing to pay the military in the process.
According to people I know who use MS-Access regularly, the County Clerk's story about failing to save doesn't really jibe with how the program works. The time frame is fishy and the questions are compounded both by her decision not to report the ward-by-ward numbers on the county website on Election Night and by the fact that no one seems to have contacted Brookfield's city clerk. I'd need to know more about the Waukesha's County Dem chair's computer background before I'd be convinced that a trained programmer couldn't fool her.
On the other hand, there's a much simpler answer. Waukesha County should pay the costs for a hand recount, and WPT should televise it.
wv: noledo (When Kathy Nickolaus is counting votes noledo is safe for a Democrat)
Dane Prosser 48,627 (27%) Kloppenburg 133,513 (73%)
I always knew it, but the election gave me a new sense of what life must be like for someone in Madison who is not 'One Of Us.'
The Dane percentages and the drum circles and the flight to Rockford paint one serious picture.
I still assume a good number of Kloppenburg votes were fraudulent. Voter ID is badly needed. But the accidental withholding of votes suggests that other states need to follow suit, and make it hard for the fraud to be successful by 'just enough', as has been the practice, by routinely holding back totals.
Maybe Comrade Kloppenburg will be appointed by Obama as the Party's Czar of Justice for all territory lying north of the Imperial Capital at Chicago. She will have her own special High Speed Train car painted Red to race through the winter snows as she directs the war against the Koch/Prosser counter revolutionary forces.

Meanwhile in Racine , a "vote counting error" ROCKS the JT, who in their haste, previously reported that "Wisconsin sends a strong, angry message to Walker". http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/state-and-regional/article_8e1c7bc8-61d7-11e0-aa7b-001cc4c002e0.html
the County Clerk's story about failing to save doesn't really jibe with how the program works
She didn't fail to save. She failed to proofread. Someone put the Brookfield results in the wrong column (or added a column), which meant that access, which is directed to import columns of data, not named data (that is, "Import Column F," as opposed to "Import any column that looks like it might have election totals for the judicial race"). If there is an extra column inserted, Column F becomes Column G, which means the wrong data is imported.
Her problem is that she didn't take a quick look at her list after she had run her access report to make sure the data made sense. She also apparently did not build a check into the system, that is, some kind of redundant calculation that would have warned her that the numbers were off.
All of which means, especially given the previous controversy that she has generated and her insistence that they leave work at 5:00 on Wednesday afternoon after they had discovered this error, that she is not suitable for this position.
Speaking of Chicago what happened to those busloads of Chicago corpses needed to fill voters roles? Surely one mission of the 14 fleebags was to issue Wisconsin voter ID’s to the living dead......
who did the people in brookfield actually vote for?
the town does exist. there is a record of registered voters. not all of whom voted, of course. (unlike places we have seen before where there are more people on the voter registration list than live in the place.)
what percentage of registered (non-photo id'ed, of course) voters voted? was that number in the reasonably expected range?
do you have the results from their election board?
did those numbers get added in originally or not?
if not, are you saying these people did not vote? or are saying the numbers can't be counted -- even though the votes are there and can be accounted for?
just checking in to see if you only accept votes that come from ballots in the trunk of a car. the wi election board needs to know that is the acceptable criteria for sarge.

Come now, you wouldn't expect a bunch of government employees to work overtime, would you? That might be a violation of their human rights or something. The union could file a grievance, you know.
I love the sound of bitter-loser whining of a post-election morning. It sounds like ... victory.
Also, when you hear Dems whining about a possible government shutdown, remember that it is only possible because when the Dems had complete control of both Congress and the White House, THEY WERE TOO CHICKENSHIT TO PASS A BUDGET FOR 2011 DURING AN ELECTION YEAR.
I mean, srsly. This is like the Menendez brothers demanding mercy from the court because they're orphans.
Placeholder said... "Ah, like the stupid bimbo in Waukesha County?"
Gotcha. Women who disappoint you or upset your plans are "stupid bimbos." Have you sought help for this? I recommend counselling and a daily devotion to the blessed mother.
PaulV said... "The man who threatened Eric Cantor on a uTube video just got 2 years. How much should the government employee who threatened Walker and legislators get?"
Anything longer than 1 year, 6 months, and 29 days should do it. Throw in the runaway legislators from Indianapolis and Madison while you're at it.
Anyone else notice the proliferation of no-caps-in-the-name, never-posted-here-before commenters casting aspersions on the validity of the tardily reported votes in all of the election threads?
So, first time lowercase commenters, where are you coming from?
I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't feel confident about 10s of thousands of votes on someones personal computer, who incidentally took immunity from prosecution for something very similar before. Just didn't hit save. Not to worry!
Now that the shoe is on the other foot, garage, and you, too, distrust the outcome of this and other elections, what reservations do you have left against strengthening the vote by requiring voter ID, and maybe the purple finger?
Not at all familiar with wisconsin law--what is the margin of vote that determines a state mandated recount--and what are the laws that provide relief for a losing candidate if the margin if greater than wisonsin law? Hope I can hear from Wisconson Law Girl or lawyer involved in Wisconsin law.
what is the margin of vote that determines a state mandated recount
IIRC, there is no state mandated recount, but the state will pick up the bare-bones tab on recounts where the margin is under 0.5%, if one of the candiddates involved requests a recount. At any margin over 0.5% the requesting candidate gets the bill.
"'m not sure why anyone wouldn't feel confident about 10s of thousands of votes on someones personal computer, who incidentally took immunity from prosecution for something very similar before. Just didn't hit save. Not to worry!"
Granted, you're a bit of a shill for the left, but that doesn't mean you're wrong.
Can you please link this immunity deal from the past? I realize there must be something to this. I apologize if it's already been linked.
Anyway, the democrats stand behind these votes too, except if they want to vaguely insinuate they aren't legit. They are legit. That town exists. Its vote was counted by many people, and the count was accurately reported, only very late.
The only potential scam here, which I admit is possible, is that the votes weren't reported because that was the only way to prevent the democrats from being the last to report, which has led to many suspicious actual 'found votes' that often push the candidate over the line. This situation doesn't resemble that. Votes counted normally are unlike ballots found in a trunk.
If she pulled that stunt, then she is a patriot who protected the election from criminals. At least IMO.
anyway, I realize she will now suffer from character assassination.
"According to people I know who use MS-Access regularly, the County Clerk's story about failing to save doesn't really jibe with how the program work"
Really? I use Access and I've made this mistake. I think she updated the disk, and then updated the database, and then didn't update the disk again. Your claim this isn't how Access works is not true.
"On the other hand, there's a much simpler answer. Waukesha County should pay the costs for a hand recount, and WPT should televise it. "
Nice aggressive democrat shilling.
How about this solution: let the election be certified. There isn't a reason to question the count, anyway. The democrats are saying the count was accurately reported, just late.
If it's within the margin for a state funded recall, then OK, if not, Klopp must pay for it.
I'm so tired of democrats being this aggressive. Klopp was insisting victory and opposed to a recount when she had a mere 200 vote margin, and now she doesn't have to pay with a massively larger margin?
No, the law should be the same for 'progressives' and conservatives. I dont' mind a recount, and I don't mind televising it, but changing the rules to help Klopp is too predictable, and sets a bad precedent for the rest of the process.
"What good does Voter ID do if the votes are stored on an incompetent partisan hack's personal laptop?"
Because when the actual paper ballots were recounted, the numbers could be verified. The laptop would be meaningless.
And you would know no one voted twice, and no one who was ineligible voted. I understand that hamstrings the Democratic Party method of winning close elections, but you takes the good with the bad.
People who think a woman's place is in the home, and people who think a woman's place is on the Left, have remarkably similar ideas about how to discipline the strays.
Shitty Grits - No it wouldn't be okay if a partisan hack Democrat kept an entire county's votes on a personal computer. Nickolaus has history of incompetence and secrecy handling votes, and should have been fired years ago.
Both sides have lawyered up months ago so now we wait to see how the recount will play out. Much depends, I suspect, on how much of the entries can or can not be found on the personal computer used by the clerk and how those tally with the recorded vote in Brookfield. I guess Althouse was right when she said we have a right to consider fraud in this election. I do wish all districts used the paper, electronic ballot that we have in Madison and other parts of the state, and I would not object to asking voters to produce some sort of ID that could include a broad range from SS cards to employee ids to improve public confidence in our democracy.

------
I know you're butthurt and need to rage, but let's face it, if there's been any sort of shenanigans it will all come out. There's a paper record of all the votes and there will be a hand recount.
It's much easier to verify than say, 9000 additional ballots misteriously appearing in the trunk of a car (Al Franken).
You're just worried that it's all legit and you guys lost. That's what all the fuss is about.
It was the county's PC, not her's, and she just did not do correctly whatever it takes to copy the summation from the county's PC to the State system, which is where AP got their numbers from.
--------
Waukesha county does use paper ballots. That's the info going around, anyway. So it should be easy to determine what's what with a hand recount.
"It seems pretty obvious what good voter ID does, doesn't it?
He meant what good does voter ID do for democrats. And the answer is that it does absolutely no good for them, and costs them thousands of illegal votes.
this idea that the vote count was compromised by a 'partisan hack' is simple character assassination. Apparently the talking points are in.
Most of us saw that Daily Kos dairy insisting on lying aggressively to set the narrative on the Klopp 'victory'. anyone who noted that it's not OK to lie about what's going on in an election was shot down aggressively.
It's the same thing here. Spit out some lies, and hope it has a long term advantage of tainting the Prosser win. IF that undermines an innocent person, well to hell with innocent people!
So this report mistake, which democrats have admitted doesn't affect the count, is turned into some kind of horrible crime.
No it wouldn't be okay if a partisan hack Democrat kept an entire county's votes on a personal computer.
But she's not keeping the votes on her computer, she's keeping the vote totals that are reported to her. She was provided with the Brookfield numbers on election night and Brookfield has already confirmed those numbers. So the question becomes, were the numbers included in those initially reported to the media or not? Should be easy to determine.
Shitty Grits - No it wouldn't be okay if a partisan hack Democrat kept an entire county's votes on a personal computer. Nickolaus has history of incompetence and secrecy handling votes, and should have been fired years ago.

Hilarious. You wanted to install a complete neophyte with no judicial experience on the Wisconsin supreme court in order to abuse the position to help strike down a law that is clearly constitutionally permissible. And you're raving about incompetence and foul play... I believe the Hebrew word for this is "chutzpah".
If you want to see incompetence in action, just check out your shitty prez.
Really, for someone to pretend they give a crap about honest elections, but fighting against voter ID, is hard to swallow.
But for them to go much farther into smearing people and claiming it's unacceptable for this error to occur (which appears to happen on both sides, and in this case, has been verified as honest by both sides), while fighting against Voter ID, is craven electioneering.
These are the people who argued for hanging chads while throwing military absentee ballots in the garbage, back in 2000.
Shitty Sure. And you can keep jerking off while reading Stormfront, where you get all your Michelle Obama jokes that we're so lucky to have shared here.
garage mahal said... "What good does Voter ID do if the votes are stored on an incompetent partisan hack's personal laptop?"
Oh, good Lord! The votes were not on the computer!
Kathy Nickolaus' apparently incompetent use of an Access database was simply to tabulate the actual raw vote totals the County Clerk's Office had on file. She could have made a dozen mistakes with that tabulation, but all of those mistakes eventually would have been discovered during the follow-up canvassing of votes when her tabulation would be cross-checked with the raw totals on file.
I suspect this seemingly obvious fact is the reason that the Democrat on the Waukesha County Board of Canvassers, Ramona Kitzinger, was so ready to step-up and corroborate Nickolaus' explanation for the missing vote totals from Brookfield.
I always knew it, but the election gave me a new sense of what life must be like for someone in Madison who is not 'One Of Us.'
Imagine being a Democrat in Waukesha, surrounded by Stepford zombies. The minute you think it can't get any worse, you turn on the TV and there's your county clerk, a stupid Republican bimbo if there ever was one, saying, "Oops, I must have forgotten how to do my fucking job again."

From now on this will be known as the Klopper Caper..
He kloppered her.
... you can believe anything you want to believe.
I want to believe that you Wisconsites dodged a bullet.
Lem:
Thanks for the gift of a classic.
I guess it's now the Classic Klopper Caper;-)
Weird, wild stuff.
The Presidents of the United States weigh in..
She's Klopp, she's Klopp...she's in my head
You couldn't have planned it better. Yesterday, the left—believing they had won—declared that any suggestion of election fraud was ridiculous. Now they're trapped and can't cry fraud without looking ridiculous themselves. The trap snaps shut.
you can believe anything you want to believe.
Especially if your information brokers are AP. I'm loving that Klopper et al were stupid enough to trust their own MSM.
David Prosser will be on Greta's show in a few minutes.
Good one.
PPPS Good work, Jason.
I think the Koch brothers planned the whole thing, Gore really won in 2000, and Barry Bonds is innocent.
Thats the way I roll.
A Kloptomaniac must have stole the election.
Budgets are for the little people.
Ouch, but she had it coming.
@Fen
When Clinton shut down the government, he made sure the military got their paychecks...in peacetime.
2 1/2 wars, Obama is cutting off pay to the military.
Unprecedented....Historic.
Kloppy declared victory and went home.
Little Zero promised he would veto the CR.
He owns it.
That is funny.
Has anyone ever told "Placeholder" that the term is a synonym for "zero"?
The Krowds beg Klopper not to Kave..
If you Go Away..
I just looove the image of her smugly telling Prosser she wouldn't intervene to pull that ad - when he was practically begging her - in the name of decency:
Serves her right.
Man, I love it when good wins - I simply LOVE IT!!!
@dickholder
House passed CR to fund military.
Obama vowed to veto it.
The Government doesn't shut down unless the President deems it.
Period.
I don't like asswipes that just throw out "teabaggers" gratuitously.
Has Obama's team of union thugs won any election since his ascendency?
Any?
As madawaskan noted in the previous thread, several of us almost immediately noted an anomaly as the count of waukesha county precincts reporting increased significantly while the vote totals stayed the same. I'm surprised APs reporters didn't notice this as they were calling it in.
I wonder if they held them back on purpose to counter the "found ballots." It would be brilliant, hold back bond fide ballots, let the Dems fake enough to just win, then "find" the real ballots.
It is brilliant if they are bona fide ballots. Someone needs to go to jail if they are not.
Trey
Many of us noted the problem with Waukesha's votes, Why? Because with Dane and Milwaukee still not reporting, Waukesha was conservatives biggest hope. We were watching their numbers. Then when Waukesha posted 68 more precincts their county totals didn't change. I think there are many more votes still missing from Waukesha County...
@Kylos I'm surprised APs reporters didn't notice this as they were calling it in.
You haven't been watching over the past year or two? Or even before?
Kylos,
All the AP was hoping for was a Kloppenberg win. The media has done their role in reporting in decades. Why fact check when the result is what you want?
My question is, why are we calling elections based on the information the liberal AP is reporting?
Oops....media has not done their role........
Oops. Film at 11!
Meanwhile at the Prosser Party..
Big Fun..
Obama's not shutting down the government. Congress is.
If by "Congress" you mean "Harry Reid", then you'd be right. House Republicans have passed a CR to keep the government working, they've even passed a budget. What have Senate Democrats done? Nothing.
Does the ~7,500 vote pickup in Waukesha put Justice Prosser over the margin of fraud?
Prosser says "You're my bitch now!"
Why did she go out and claim victory when the vote's not certified?
Because Ms. Kloppendorfer wanted to claim victory while she was still ahead in the vote count? Freeze the ballot hunt/recount?
Much as AlGore only wanted recounts in select (his) counties in Florida in 2000.
Furious a:
It's called "margin of Acorn" around here.
I need to be unemployed and also drop out of school so I can be home when the big news breaks.
So Prosser wins and Kloppy goes back to....what does she do?
National Review Online referred to the situation here as "Madison vs the rest of Wisconsin".
There are liberal holdouts elsewhere in the state, but no where near the domiance that the wackos have on Madison.
Watch the MSM tomorrow track down Prosser and ask him if he endorses a recount.. count on it like the sun will also rise..
Of course for the Klopper to aski for a recount would ring a sore looser tone... but the alternative fraud charge would just be that much sweeter.
Like Crack says..
Man, I love it when good wins - I simply LOVE IT!!!
Klopper Like the Two-Fisted Slopper
Half-Cocked Claimed Victory O’er Prosser
She Dropped Some Stinky Trots Ploppers
That Required a Floor Mopper
When She Learned that the Voters Had Stopped Her.
So of Kloppy declared victory when she was 204 votes ahead, I assume she will conceed not that Prosser has 37 times that lead, at 7582.
The Klopper is Between A Rock and a Hard Place.
I'm predicting she will ask for a recount.
I think you are correct, but I wonder how she will reconcile a recount request when she said that she won with a 204 vote total.
She will go back in time and tell herself not to be in such a hurry ;)
It was a rush to judgement.. that now on sober reflection she can see that it was illconceived..
The Krowds beg Klopper not to Kave...
Klop, klop, kloppin'
on heaven's door
I hear you klopin'
But you can't come in
I hear you klopin'
Go back where you been
Lem...you Krack me up. Plus old Julio singing "If you go away" brought back Rod McKuen memories. (Man in shorts warning) Turns out Rod is alive and writing songs at 77.
Dane County's problem was that they had something like a 90% turnout.
Dane County's turnout was 49%. What is it about you people that makes you lie so effortlessly?
I'll tell you waht happened.. at the end of the preliminary vote count - UNOFFICIAL .. Klopper's campaign advisers told her to declare victory.. and Klopper like a good liberal tool did waht she was told.
Kloppenberg is the last person you want in a Supreme anything.
You people ???
Which you people are ya talking to?
The music's too loud.
I can't heeeeear you.
Honestly, it sounds like a party going on.
Somebody found something they thought was lost.
Obama's not shutting down the government. Congress is. You want to shut down the government?
The Dem Senate won't pass it - thus it's the Dems shutting down Congress. The Republicans passed a CR.
Thanks MM..
Uh-oh, wingnuts! Looks like lots of ballots in Waukesha with votes for just the Supreme Court race. Fraud! Republican housewives on drugs!
The reason someone said Dane had 90% is that they misunderstood a statistic.
Ah, like the stupid bimbo in Waukesha County?

"So tell me, do you lie naturally, or did they have to teach you?"
It's part of the advanced training we go through to makes us qualified racist, tea bagging, liars. Didn't you know?
"
Okay, so let's compare that with what your wingnut source said about Dane County, i.e., that there were 10,000 ballots with no votes other than the Supreme Court race."
Is there a link to a story about this? Was it just another rumor?
Do your own work. Or are wingnuts allergic to work, too?
"You're implying otherwise."
Yeah, I most certainly am.
And please stop throwing baseballs on my lawn.
Stop throwing baseballs on my lawn already.
Yeah, that's about what I expected.

You're such a lying little libtard skank.

Obama's not shutting down the government. Congress is. You want to shut down the government? Then you'd better be prepared to live with the consequences. Let's see the Tea Baggers explain why they don't want the military to be paid, or everyone else to get their tax refunds
Um, silly girl:
The Democrats control 2/3rds of the government.
They are shutting it down and refusing to pay the military in the process.
Even Clinton had the sense to not do that.
Your continued poo flinging is bizarre.
Wissconsin
Prosser (50%)
Kloppenburg (50%)
Dane
Prosser 48,627 (27%)
Kloppenburg 133,513 (73%)
She will have her own special High Speed Train car painted Red to race through the winter snows as she directs the war against the Koch/Prosser counter revolutionary forces.

the County Clerk's story about failing to save doesn't really jibe with how the program works
Surely one mission of the 14 fleebags was to issue Wisconsin voter ID’s to the living dead......
so, sarge.
who did the people in brookfield actually vote for?
the town does exist. there is a record of registered voters. not all of whom voted, of course.

Anything longer than 1 year, 6 months, and 29 days should do it. Throw in the runaway legislators from Indianapolis and Madison while you're at it.

What happened to that PoliSci prof that kept reminding us that election fraud in Wisconsin was too absurd to even contemplate?

what is the margin of vote that determines a state mandated recount
IIRC, there is no state mandated recount, but the state will pick up the bare-bones tab on recounts where the margin is under 0.5%, if one of the candiddates involved requests a recount. At any margin over 0.5% the requesting candidate gets the bill.
"So, first time lowercase commenters, where are you coming from?"

@Pogo
Voter ID? You're kidding right? What good does Voter ID do if the votes are stored on an incompetent partisan hack's personal laptop?
Garage is upset that the vote count is finally correct and is in favor of vote fraud. As expected
@Pogo
Voter ID? You're kidding right? What good does Voter ID do if the votes are stored on an incompetent partisan hack's personal laptop?
-----------
voter ID is good because it keeps ineligible people from voting and cheaters from voting multiple times.
It seems pretty obvious what good voter ID does, doesn't it?
Shitty Grits -
No it wouldn't be okay if a partisan hack Democrat kept an entire county's votes on a personal computer. Nickolaus has history of incompetence and secrecy handling votes, and should have been fired years ago.
So, garage, you seem to agree that the authentication of votes and voters needs reform.
Yet voter ID is not useful.
Why?
Both sides have lawyered up months ago so now we wait to see how the recount will play out. Much depends, I suspect, on how much of the entries can or can not be found on the personal computer used by the clerk and how those tally with the recorded vote in Brookfield. I guess Althouse was right when she said we have a right to consider fraud in this election. I do wish all districts used the paper, electronic ballot that we have in Madison and other parts of the state, and I would not object to asking voters to produce some sort of ID that could include a broad range from SS cards to employee ids to improve public confidence in our democracy.
Shitty Grits -

I know you're butthurt and need to rage, but let's face it, if there's been any sort of shenanigans it will all come out. There's a paper record of all the votes and there will be a hand recount.
It's much easier to verify than say, 9000 additional ballots misteriously appearing in the trunk of a car (Al Franken).
You're just worried that it's all legit and you guys lost. That's what all the fuss is about.
It was the county's PC, not her's, and she just did not do correctly whatever it takes to copy the summation from the county's PC to the State system, which is where AP got their numbers from.
Shit happens!
I guess Althouse was right when she said we have a right to consider fraud in this election. Waukesha county does use paper ballots. That's the info going around, anyway. So it should be easy to determine what's what with a hand recount.

She was the liberals' darling,
But the vote count went awry
And left the lady snarling.

And you will soon be grinning.
Shitty Grits -

Really, for someone to pretend they give a crap about honest elections, but fighting against voter ID, is hard to swallow.
But for them to go much farther into smearing people and claiming it's unacceptable for this error to occur (which appears to happen on both sides, and in this case, has been verified as honest by both sides), while fighting against Voter ID, is craven electioneering.
These are the people who argued for hanging chads while throwing military absentee ballots in the garbage, back in 2000.
