You know, when the Oath Keepers say that, the left denounces them as an extremist group.
I think you guys are trying to be fair and just showing what you see and hear, but it still is incredibly pro-Walker, because the protesters are so lame, tone deaf, and politically incestuous. They harden my opposition to them more everyday, assuming you are not editing to make them look bad.
I mean isn't that bottom sign the worst you ever saw. I hope she is not a teacher. Imagine the prep work she would do for her classes.
Protest signs should be short and to the point. Too many of these signs resemble manifestos scrawled with a Sharpie in some cabin in the middle of nowhere. How's the saying go ... "If it takes a lot of words to say what you have in mind, give it more thought."
If it takes a lot of words to say what you have in mind, give it more thought.
That can't be the saying. It's not pithy enough.
I hate the fisheye camera. I don't know why but I do.
Check out the ganjaman holding the TAA sign. "Wake and Bake 101."
Thank you Meade!!!!!!!!!!

Today, the fisheye camera may have saved my neck. There's a video clip that will be up in a short while and it will show how a very hostile group began to encircle me.
After one larger-than-average man assaults me, trying to snatch my Flip camera, I used the fisheye camera to get them to retreat, snapping shot after shot of their shouts and taunts, middle fingers and scowls.
Finally, they shrink back in fear of being seen, fear that their hatred and bile would be exposed for everyone everywhere to see.
I'm looking forward to getting out of the Madison "bubble," hopefully by the end of this week, to talk to Wisconsinites in some of the towns and villages that surround Dane County.
Courage!
I don't get it, Meade. Who are all the signs for? What is all the stomping and clapping for? If not for people to see?
Help me understand the psychology here. I am not being facetious.

They hate because it makes them feel good, Meade.
Glad you made it back home, safely.

Sevs, have you learned nothing in Crack Emcee school?
It's tribal and cultish and they want it all to be safe and closed. They want mirrors but only to see themselves. Anyone identified as "other" must be pushed out, shut down, dumbed and muted or their circle of drumming and chanting and shared despondency is broken.
Sorry that's the best I can do without a making serious review of Freud.
Well, it is late.
"If it takes a lot of words to say what you have in mind, give it more thought."
"If I had more time, I would have written less." or something like that. Some dead French dude, I think.
I'm sorry I wrote such a long letter. I did not have the time to write a short one.

Meade--
I am sorry you were assaulted by a crowd. That is unacceptable. I am pleased you found the fisheye lens to be helpful in that situation. A fisheye lens may be beneficial in that type of situation but I still think it produces aesthetically displeasing pictures. You and Prof Althouse have been an amazing resource in this situation.
I fear things are starting to get out of hand. This protest has been going on for a very long time and I am sure nerves have been frayed.
Maybe it is time to vote and get this issue resolved and fight it out at the next election.
Meade, Maybe it's Jung rather than Freud who should be consulted in this case:
"Rational argument can be conducted with some prospect of success only so long as the emotionality of a given situation does not exceed a certain critical degree. If the affective temperature rises above this level, the possibility of reason's having any effect ceases and its place is taken by slogans and chimerical wish-fantasies. " --The Undiscovered Self
chimerical wish-fantasies
Like the one about how a state can pay billions more than it takes in and nothing bad will happen. The federal government can't even do that, and it has a machine that prints money out of thin air 24 hours a day.
Or how about the one about how people working 30 hours a week with 15 weeks off should make close to $100,000 in wages and benefits while people who are not in such a lucky class work much harder for much less, if they are lucky enough to work at all? I love that chimerical wish fantasy.
also, the chimerical fantasy that shutting down the legislature is "what democracy looks like."

It's because they're not there to discuss anything they're there to intimidate the Republicans into giving them what they want.
They know the MSM won't show their vile rhetoric but a private citizen with a flip cam like Meade will have their nastiness up on You Tube before the day's out. So they try to intimidate him into leaving.
Watch your back Meade, I do believe violence will happen before this is over.
I did my first ever picketing with UAW back in 1981, in Minneapolis, along the sidewalk outside a hotel hosting some kind of union-busting meeting. Lots of PATCO guys on the line with us; everybody else was working. I took some photos with my new SLR and one of the grain miller union bigshots (their president, I think) purchased them -- my first professional photography. I did not have a car in those days, so I had to ride the bus, and when I went to this bigshot's home, it was way out in some fancy neighborhood with big yards, about a mile from the bus.
In those days, we were heavily supporting Solidarity -- as was the man we all hated, Pres. Reagan. I still have my Solidarnosc button somewhere.
But now I am not in a union, and I am older, and I would never support these clowns in Wisconsin. They don't know JACK about Solidarity. That worker's paradise in Poland kept people down precisely because it was based on lies -- false accounting, false reporting, faked up plans... or as we used to say, "They pretend to pay us; we pretend to work."
So this lady with the Solidarity picketing sign looks nice, on account of its lone virtue of being homemade, but otherwise it's feeble. Bah.
The Lefties feel better when they control the narrative.
Agree with RL, watch your six, sir.

Few have stated the situation so succinctly and so perceptively.
It clear you won the fair Althouse with your intellect as much as your witty badinage.
PS I would send The Blonde (she of the Black Belt in judo and karate and the fiery temperament) out to ridein shotgun, but, given what happened at one of Akron HOG roasts a few years back, you might end up having to go her bail.
I see the one guy standing near the TAA sign wears Navy blue and orange. Looks like a Bears fan to me!

How bout K.I.S.S?
Or maybe just "Brevity is the soul of wit" although I don't see anyone attempting wit. If you are trying to portray the same level of enthusiasm as a crazy person living in a van, then signs with way too much stuff on them work just dandy!
The "solidarity" lady seems to have had random words that she desperately tried to tie together. She forgot these though:
Bush!!
Koch Brothers
BLUE MEANIES!
(I'd add "11" but she's too old for that.)
"who will want to risk their life for no pay"
I don't know. Is someone being asked to risk their life for no pay?
@Shanna -- You beat me to it by 2 hours. Less is more.
Meade,
Do you have some friends who can watch your back for you? It sounds foolish to go by yourself into a hostile crowd, especially if you are trying to film them.
WV: biest. I swear this thing is sentient.
KISS (Keep it simple, stupid.)

How do they know that Meade is pro-Walker? Or, at best, cruelly neutral?
There's also "Simplify, Simplify, Simplify" with the last 2 "simplifys" crossed out, which is what I would have done with some HTML like strikethrough, but I don't think Blogger comments support that tag.
Blogger really sucks.
