But you raise a good point. When left-wingers appear to be delusional even by the standards of Madison, Wisconsin, then they've gone way too far off the deep end.
Been planning to take the kids to the Tractorcade all week which starts at 10:00. Then this morning, the wife says "Oh, I'm going to get my hair dyed at 9:00, it shouldn't take long" Now 9:50. What.in.the.FUCK.
..but I live in the real world, here in Madison, Wisconsin.
Where legislators run off averting their responsibility.. doctors handout sic notes like shots at a Charlie Sheen shindig and the police do not arrest anybody ;)
Actually an apt description, in an MTV kind of way.
"This is the true story of seven strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped. Find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real. The Real World..."
No need, Madame. You merely state that you have an interest in the theoretical principles involved as well as being on the scene and have a vested interest on several levels in the outcome.
With your record of failure Politico, Republican Party laughs at your prediction. Lucid, have you studied any statistics to see how inept you are. WV: faints lucid faints if he studies statistics
Politico has GOT to be a computer with a random-number generator spitting out free-association pre-programmed comments. NO HUMAN BEING could write such stuff with a straight face. The tears of laughter alone would short out his keyboard..
It's not called "Madtown" for no reason. And now the loonies have invaded from out of state as well (Michael Moore, Jesse Jackson). I am just waiting for their hero Charlie Sheen to show up.
Yes, Ann won't be happy until she gets her Kent State.
Ann and Meade will be hard pressed to distort today's protest as just being "Madison" with all of the farm tractors driving around the Capitol building.
I too live in the real world where one wakes up to high-pitched trills of a flute player running through a repertoire of 18th century revolutionary tunes. Which, upon investigation turns out to be one of a group in continental dress assembled at the corner. I have no idea who they are. Tea Party types or public service union supporters, or wtf, no placards at all, just that they do get up dreadfully early for a Saturday to carry on and don't mind making everybody else get up as well. Have they no manners?
Right now, Japan is what the real world looks like. The frivolity of Madison, is a luxury rare in history. People screaming for their right to have others pay to maintain their lives of comfort and security. More ridiculous is that they do it with a sense that such rare entitlement is some baseline existence for a human.
Yes, Ann won't be happy until she gets her Kent State.
Note who invokes it. The lefties have been accusing the Right of wanting violence for a couple of years, but, yes, I can understand the the Left is so desperate that they think nothing short of a few martyrs will save their cause.
Problem is, the cops are on the Lefties' side, too.
Too bad a Red Chinese tank battalion can't be imported for a little Tienamen-on-Mendota.
Maybe we can ask The Zero. He's Red China's new Co-President, I hear.
Ann and Meade will be hard pressed to distort today's protest as just being "Madison" with all of the farm tractors driving around the Capitol building.
Until they see the license plates are from IL, CA, NY...
Are you employed, sir? Does your employer know how much time you spend online?
Unless you're employed to post left-wing ad hominems on someone else's blog, you're throwing stones at Althouse and Glenn Reynolds from inside a glass house.
Almost everyone posting things online has a day job that requires them to do something else for part of the day. Unless you're a paid political oiperative so do you. If the show fits...
Glenn Reynolds writes posts in advance and has the posted automatically through out the day, as a convenience to his readers. If you followed him you'd know that.
Given their recent behavior, what are the chances one of the brain dead Unionistas smashes his tractor into the Capitol? Or maybe they'll just run down some of those evil teabaggers with a combine.
Ohio, Wisconsin, Idaho and now iowa. Nationally, the people in this country have had their fill of theft from public employee collective croynism. This is the begining of the end for public employee unions and the union bosses see this. That is why they are so desperate and bordering on criminality.
Well, it's not as bad as Berkeley, and I've lived in both.
What the nonsense of the past few weeks reminded me is that Madison has a sizable number of off-the-shelf demonstrators who are ready to take to the streets (or, in this case, the Capitol) for any cause that fits the city's perceived “traditions.” After that initial deployment, it's usually fairly predictable—we're left guessing whether Al Sharpton will show up before Jesse Jackson, and so on. (I'm guessing Jesse out hustled his fellow Reverend on this one simply due to proximity.)
So, it mostly just the usual show, with the true believers then emboldened by their false sense of support.
But what's truly depressing is the apparent involvement of the students (at least from what I can gather from the numerous photos). What-in-the-world are they thinking? Do they really want to throw-in with public sector unions? One would think that that's the very crowd that would not want their future in hock.
I am employed, and I make a lot of money, entirely in the private sector in my own business. I blog when I am free, like now on Saturdays and in the evenings.
Glenn Reynolds could not get away with what he is doing if he were in the private sector instead of a state employee who is impossible to fire.
And then he has the incredible gall to write about how expensive law school and higher education are--He could be replaced for about 5% of his current salary by two adjuncts, and the quality of the teaching and scholarship would improve.
Glenn Reynolds clearly spends more time at his blog and in peripheral related activities than he does at his state job.
He is now more a semi-journalist than a law professor.
But the taxpayers of Tennessee pay him to teach law.
His students expect him to be a law professor, not a journalist hawking political opinions and flashlights through Amazon so that he can make his 8%.
He can't be fired, so he screws the taxpayers.
A private boss would fire his ass so fast he'd leave his pants behind.
He is a hypocrite who attacks others for what he himself does but nost of those he attacks do not. Most of the teachers he is attacking work very hard at their jobs.
Maybe if there is a severe radiation leak in japan, Glenn will post a link to iodized salt. Gets him another 8%.
I thought I was making a joke about Glenn Reynolds pushing iodized salt for his 8%, but he actually is hawking potassium iodide tablets through a link to Amazon for which he will earn about 8%!!!
I assume you've already purchased and shipped large amounts of potassium iodide to Japan (with your own money), right? Or are you in fact doing nothing but looking to score political points on the backs of the thousands who lay dead or dying?
Lucid, are you so stupid you have never hear of New Madrid fault? Too dumb to know that ice, snow storms, hurricane and thunder storms knock out power lines? Haven't the leftist terrorists threaten to knock out powew stations. Does Amazon even deliver to Japan? Why are you so bitter?Inferiority complex? If nyou know nothing Lucid it is best to keep quite so everyone will not reaalize it. HAve you taken a remedial course on statistics yet? If you would your posts would improve.

First I got arret. Now I get an estoppel. I get the message here.
Where I live there's a popular bumper sticker:
Ithaca: 4 square miles surrounded by reality.

Before I forget, my condolences on the Penn State basketball game. When I first read the final score I thought it was the halftime score.

Cool. But will the Buffalo Springfield show up at your parade like they did mine?

@chickelit
Lot of rumors someone big is here this weekend, from Mellencamp to Willie Nelson. We'll see.
10:02, and blood pressure raging.
I had dinner with some consultants on K street. The verdict is the following:
- The GOP is going to get creamed all over the USA because of Scott Walker. Obama-Biden are shoo in for the 2nd term.
- The GOP will lose the House. The fast turn-around in our history.
- The GOP will lose more seats in the Senate.
- The 2012-2016 will be the most activist/progressive agenda. Virtually everything will be changed.
- The GOP will be a permanent minority member starting 2012.
- The NPR will get 20% additional contributions from the Federal government. James O'Keefe will never get a Pulitzer.
And pigs will fly
@Politico
The country is center-right, so what you are suggesting is a bit extreme and a lot of wishful thinking.
But many Republicans are determined to pull a Nancy Pelosi/Newt Gingrich and march their election victory right off a cliff.
Walker makes people very queasy--see the repeated polling on this by Rasmussen.
Chris Christie has clearly and repeatedly distanced hiself from Walker.
No one likes a rich bully.

Glenn Reynolds is offerng markdowns on flashlights and lanterns.
Work at his state job must be light (get it?) this week.
No need, Madame. You merely state that you have an interest in the theoretical principles involved as well as being on the scene and have a vested interest on several levels in the outcome.
Perfectly natural.
I grew up in Appleton, so I laughed at that statement, too.

That's true. The rest of your assertions? Maybe not so much.

lucid, unlike you serious people need to be prepared for diaster. GR is doing a public service. Ask the Japanese.
James O'Keefe will never get a Pulitzer, even though he deserves one. As Lenin said it matters most who counts the votes.

Yes, paulie. I'm sure what the japanese need is a flashlight from Amazon via Glenn.

@Paulie,
I guess you meant to point out that Glenn Reynolds is trying to make a profit from the deaths of thousands in Japan?
That he is a disaster profiteer?
(When he is not doing his state job, that is? Lots of free time as a state-paid law professor.)

I am questioning Madison after three weeks though.

wv: worons, meaning Walker-morons.
Other than that, I have no idea what you are talking about or referreing to.

Oh, I get it.
Walker dropped out of college without a degree after only earning C's in his courses.
No wonder he has it in for teachers!
With grade inflation, C's are pretty hard to get, especially on a consistent basis. You have to really work at it.
Given their recent behavior, what are the chances one of the brain dead Unionistas smashes his tractor into the Capitol? Or maybe they'll just run down some of those evil teabaggers with a combine.
Garage, my dye-highlights take 3 hours, minimum. I'd settle in to watch some Doral golf on TV if I were you.
Cheers,
Victoria

The Madison, Wisconsin YOU live in is real, hence your linking.
wv: weawee ...LOL.
Lucid, I bet most of the politicians that you despise did exceptionally well in school.
If a college drop out does the right thing, do elites hear it? If a Harvard grad does the wrong thing (repeatedly) do liberals hear it?
I grew up in Appleton, so I laughed at that statement, too.
Hey, you and Greta Van Susteren, who, as Wiki has it, hosted Joe McCarthy at her family's Appleton farm.
Bagoh wrote:

Sure. Ben Affleck dropped out, respectively, from Uni of Vermont and Obama's Occidental College. And we haven't heard him shut up since.
Julian Assange dropped out of the Univ of Melbourne. Because it was too right-wing (I just made that up).
If a Harvard grad does the wrong thing (repeatedly) do liberals hear it?
Only if they work on Wall Street.

Calm the heck down and enjoy the day with your kids, garage. You lovely wife's hair always comes first. Learn that and stay happily married.
I've been over and back already. It's cold and children are crying. Adults are crying and whining like children who are crying and whining.
I'll go back again around 4 - when there will be more stumblebum drunks to film.
