One woman who identified herself as a Milwaukee Public Schools employee wrote in to support Walker's plan.
"I voted for you in November, and today I am thankful that I did so," she wrote. "This legislation is more than fair to us in the public sector and will bring a measure of financial relief to the people of our state. Keep up the good work, Governor. I'm glad to see us moving in a conservative, constitutionally sound direction."
I wonder how she feels about her mandatory union dues (still) going to support thugs who accuse the governor of "irrational hatred."
Well, a Wisconsin judge told him he had to do this.
Remember the interview with the red head, yesterday? She was expressing the left's interest in having activist judges on the bench. While I'd venture to guess most of us don't know what a "judicial temperament" really is. Does Scalia, for instance, have it when he goes for the jugular of one of the lawyers, during Orals?
What we are seeing playing out is POLITICAL. Governor Walker is under POLITICAL ASSAULT. Why? Because he is suddenly a national figure. And, his reputation is climbing high.
So, I'm not surprised.
That the Internet, itself, is under assault by democraps? Nope. Not surprised, either.
While I still think in 2014 Al Franken will be returned to comedic circles. His "win" by 600 votes, will be canceled out. (No. I don't know the future. But I'd bet this outcome, anyway.)
There's a reason the Internet has grown in influence.
In the comments section on another post, someone wrote in to say "he heard that a judge delivered a restraining order AGAINST the implementation of the new union rules." Raising the question, "is this true, or not true?"
Those damned taxpayers and their damned taxes...combined with that smelly, moldy, negative rights-laden US Constitution...are the real stumbling blocks to real social change in this country.
"Mr. Walker, thank you for the free Support Walker t-shirt. My last t-shirt was stolen in broad daylight as some blonde woman videotaped the whole thing. If inclined, please write back to hans.heg@union.army.mil."
I think Jeremy interpreted Althouse's headline to mean "Of 1000s of emails, Walker releases 10s" and not the (correct) "Walker relases 10,000s of emails."
OK, I first read your headline as a snark, as in "Walker only releases a few (i.e., tens) of the thousands of e-mails he received, and they're all positive, so he appears to be cherry-picking."
The article itself made it a bit clearer. :-) ..bruce..
Yup. The Internet is under assault! Just watch what the senate keeps trying to do! (I've seen the links to stuff at Glenn Reynolds site.)
And, who knows? As this issue winds through Wisconsin's courts ... is it going to be a slam dunk for the democraps? REALLY?
I have a counter-intuitive opinion. I think this BACKFIRES! I think it makes a majority of citizens ANGRY. And, just like teachers wiped their reputations thru the mud; I think judges are also losing the respect being one once entailed.
The AP story looks to me like a case of "managed reporting". Walker had said that the bulk of his mail supported his action and presumably, the AP filed a FOI request in order to refute that. They never get around to doing that in the article (so it must be true), but they do give equal or greater visibility to the emails that opposed Walker, going to far as to capitalize one in order to draw the eye to it. Also, the emails referenced in the AP article that oppose Walker are all featured higher up in the article. Managed reporting.
Just to be clear, we still have no evidence that most of the emails are supportive of G.Walker. Your blurb in quotation marks could easily suggest this is the conclusion of the linked article, rather than a restatement of G.Walker's assertion, which is what it was. I'll wait for the breakdown before drawing my own conclusions.
Henry - "How in the hell do YOU know if there is an actual New York Times? Are you there in the newsroom?"
Good lord, how fucking stupid are you?
You're comparing this twit "saying" he's released ALL of his emails...which we're supposed to believe...and whether there's a news organization that been around since 1851? (Oh, and yes, I've actually been to the New York Times...and it does indeed exist.)
Unions gave us weekends, child labor laws, minimum wage, sick days, vacation, collective bargaining and workers having the ability to earn a living wage.
Ann Althouse selectively leaked the details of this compliance with the open Records laws of Wisconsin.
A) Walker only complied with the law after being sued.
B) As part of the settlement, taxpayers must pay the legal fees of the news outlets who sued (guilt, guilt, guilt).

It's pretty bizarre that Althouse would repeat Walker's claim, which triggered the OR request, that the majority weer supportive. The story doesn't say that and I doubt they've tallied the 19,000.
"Unions gave us weekends, child labor laws, minimum wage, sick days, vacation, collective bargaining and workers having the ability to earn a living wage."
Unions, workers and other memebrs of the labor movement absolutely did fight for, and win, the weekend, the 40 hour work week, etc.
No doubt there is some Koch-funded think tank revising history to claim that the rich gave that to us out of the generousness of their hearts.
BTW, there's now a bill from a conservative lawmaker in MO to repeal child labor laws. All part of the drive to repeal the 20th century. Set your clocks back 111 years. Things were so grand back then!
So, Kent, what's your issue with the Progressive piece? The page you link to does not bother to explain what the problem is, beyond being an uncomfortable truth that these policies hurt real people.
In the piece he carefully states:
Figuring out all the contributing factors behind a likely suicide is a complicated problem. Such deaths are in some ways incomprehensible—and always tragic.
And he has school board members contacting him and saying that the suicide was triggered, in part, by the attacks on teachers.
And he quoted from the fricking police report:
“Susan stated that the last several weeks had been ‘stressing her out’ due to the protests and the introduction of the budget repair bill and the uncertainty involved in the teaching world, as far as who was going to have jobs and what services were going to be cut. . . . Susan stated that Jeri truly loved her job and was about the most outgoing and bubbly person you could ever want to be around. Susan stated that everybody had noticed, however, the last few weeks since the introduction of the budget repair bill that Jeri was having a lot of difficulty.”
No doubt conservatives would like to silence anyone who calls attention to the real-world impact of their policies. That dog don't hunt.

the infamous 14 take off to Illinois and confer among themselves and the republicans are violating the open meetings law?
As I said before if you are going to hang, hang for a worthwhile reason. The republicans should introduce a new bill with 25 hours of notice to outright ban civil service unions in the state and make the state a right to work state.
I wonder if the Times will be as happy with the next election results in Wisconsin ? The lefties aren't that enthusiastic about the secret ballot, preferring "card check" so the thugs know how you voted. I understand Chavez prefers this, as well.

And I pity all those starving workers in right-to-work states.
Tyrone Slothrop - "Man, Jeremy, you sure are full of hate."
The fact that I think most of the people who post here are nothing more than teabagging puppets, regurgitating the same insane right wing garbage The Queen and her trusty sidekick, Needy, throws out as chum doesn't mean I "hate" anybody.
I don't know anybody here well enough to like, dislike or especially "hate" any of them.
I think most are full of shit, and based on your inane comment, you included, but hate is one of the most overused words in the English distionary.
You yourself don't know anybody here and if you think disagreement somehow connotes "hate" you need to educate yourself.
Unions, workers and other memebrs of the labor movement absolutely did fight for, and win, the weekend, the 40 hour work week, etc.
So fucking what? Thank you unions for the wonderful work laws you've been able to get on the books. Now that they are on the books, your time is over. Goodbye.
By the way: President Obama's latest approval rating via Gallup today is 50%
Oh, I'm sure your already planning your trip to the white house with your gold plated knee-pads to unzip and felate Erkle to celebrate this grand bit of non-news.
> Unions gave us weekends, child labor laws, minimum wage, sick days, vacation, collective bargaining and workers having the ability to earn a living wage.
And now they're going to bankrupt state and local govts.
Which reminds me, if workers were unable to earn a "living wage" before unions, how did people manage to live until then?
No doubt there is some Koch-funded think tank revising history to claim that the rich gave that to us out of the generousness of their hearts.
You and your Koch conspiracies. If I didn't know better I'd say you are jealous because your Marxist stooge benefactor Soros didn't swoop in to save your pathetic ass and those other asses in Madison. You are all so so so fucking pathetic. The whole lot of you.
I didn't even know who the Koch family was until you and your ilk started chanting their name as if it was used as a ward to fend off evil, so I started looking them up and lo and behold they are very wealthy men, who use their own wealth to fund things they believe in. Imagine that. Shocking in it's breadth and scope that you would fear the actual application of economic liberty. Is it any wonder you aren't confused for being a Marxist?
Andy - "And now they're going to bankrupt state and local govts."
Anybody whop blames the unions for the economic mess we're in a an uneducated fool.
While you and the rest of the local teabaggers were evidently sound asleep, G.W. and the GOP majority twiddled their thumbs while it tanked. (Oh, and we had unions during his tenure...remember?)a
He started two wars, was asleep at the switch, signed an 800 billion dollar bank bailout...and walked out the door.
Jeremy: Using Nixon as an example not to "trust" an organization. Skipped those history course, huh?
Are you really this stupid. I used Nixon specifically because he has a rep of being untrustworthy. I would still trust him over the MSM.
And why is you and some of the other teabaggers here (considering what your moniker can mean)
Fen is short for Fenrisulven. Norse mythology. I shortened it because the extra syllables gave libtards trouble...
throw out that "licking the balls" thingie... You don't actually think I'm going to let you suck me off...do you?
I thought your mother explained this to you last time. If you call me a teabagger, it means you want to be the teabagee, ie. you're the one who's flirting to suck the teabagger's balls. Dumbass.
You yourself don't know anybody here and if you think disagreement somehow connotes "hate" you need to educate yourself.
No, you hate us. Every post you make is filled with vile insults. You call everyone stupid when you know this isn't true. You are motivated, not by reason, but by emotion. The only emotion that could make you behave this way is hate. Admitting it would be the first step in getting over it.
Methadras - The fact that you have a fucking job doesn't mean the rights the unions fought for aren't important to those who do.
Unionists have as much rights as I do, moron. That is to say they don't have collective bargaining rights because those rights never existed. Moron. They are obselete. They aren't necessary and you can never justify that they are or in reality ever should have been.
And when you ever did have one, you can thank them for those weekends you spend on your ratty sofa in the trailer.
I've been employed since I've been a kid, so much for child labor laws. When you aren't flicking that little pill of a dick with one hand while you fist hammer a response here with the other one that doesn't consist of some homo-erotic imagery that you probably gleaned from one of your usual man friendly haunts on the interwebs, think to yourself how much better I am at life than you are by leaps and bounds. Stew in it. Understand it. Embrace the patheticness that is you and the inanity of the drivel that you shit-shovel through your keyboard. Then once the realization of how utterly worthless you are to not only the immediate people that surround you because of the involuntary nature of the sphere of putrid filth of space you occupy, but to the larger scope of people that have been rendered even dumber for having to read what you say, then kill yourself on the altar of your own stupidity. Jump on a knife, walk out into traffic, go over a bridge. Something, anything that might have redemptive value in getting some medical examiner to acknowledge that you actually are a hominid of some sort that was birthed by god knows what. Then and possibly only then could it be attributed to you that you had some impact on letting anyone reading your verbal diarrhea, value you as nothing more than an afterthought of a semen stain.
"Unions, workers and other members of the labor movement absolutely did fight for, and win, the weekend, the 40 hour work week, etc. "
The Soviet Union was instrumental in defeating Hitler. Clearly the Poles and Czech's should have been happy. Great logic.
Jeremy once spent a great deal of effort defending Roman Polanski for drugging and sodomizing a 13 year old girl, using the same logic and persuasion he is using today. That's pretty much all you to need to know about him.
Bald, unvarnished hypocrisy: the essential glue binding any given leftard's inherently contradictory hodgepodge of half-baked assumptions, assertions and inanities-in-general into its typically mushy, intellectually unsustainable whole.

Open question to the site's leftard trolls-in-residence: would you prefer we refer to you as "Neo-libs" from now on... or would the simpler, more straightforward "chickenhawks" be more to your liking?

"I didn't even know who the Koch family was until you and your ilk started chanting their name..."
That's kind of our point. We have long suggested the T-party is not an organic movement, but a corporate orchestration with the likes of the Kochs pulling the strings, and the likes of you dancing like crazy all the while thinking how good and talented you are.
I don't believe the entirety of the rank-and-file T-party are evil, but I do believe those calling the shots are, and that the peons are being obliviously led around by the nose.

We? Like a borg collective, we? First of all, I'm not Tea Party. Second of all, it was/is an outgrowth against the largess of government. Whether it is organic or funded is meaningless and irrelevant. It is what it is and it's there, so deal with it. It's unfortunate that when Soros funded mouthpieces and organizations are incapable of having the same effect, you go after conservative movement benefactors under the guise of some evil, nefarious, marionette type plots. It's silly, childish, and foolish.
It's sounds like jealousy and envy? What? Big daddy Soros got outspent?
I don't believe the entirety of the rank-and-file T-party are evil, but I do believe those calling the shots are, and that the peons are being obliviously led around by the nose.
Right, unthinking lemmings jumping off a cliff. Got it. You people are so fucking dense sometimes.
You people? You're going to go the you people route?
I was hoping to get a rise with my "methadrone" taunt, thinking it a fine triple entendre, only to discover the apian theme of your blog and BAM, it's a quad.
Now, be a good lemming and go back and reread your Plato's Cave.

"THIS is what democracy looks like."
Of course he did.
Wiki Walker Leaks.
From the article:
As to the released emails? A Hill of Beans.
In the comments section on another post, someone wrote in to say "he heard that a judge delivered a restraining order AGAINST the implementation of the new union rules." Raising the question, "is this true, or not true?"
The NYT in a nutshell. Four examples of anti-Walker emails, one small example of pro-Walker emails.
Those damned taxpayers and their damned taxes...combined with that smelly, moldy, negative rights-laden US Constitution...are the real stumbling blocks to real social change in this country.
I was touched by this one:
"Mr. Walker, thank you for the free Support Walker t-shirt. My last t-shirt was stolen in broad daylight as some blonde woman videotaped the whole thing. If inclined, please write back to hans.heg@union.army.mil."
Geee, what a shocker.
But can we see ALL of the emails?
Henry - How in the hell do YOU know if this was an actual employee? DO you see a name attached?
Here's another email I ferreted out: "I think Walker is a real teabagging cocksucker who should be thrown out of office and horse whipped."
Signed: A Milwaukee Public Schools employee
Carol - "That the Internet, itself, is under assault by democraps?"
The Democrats are now attacking the internet?
What a dunce.
Shankman? Shankman, is that you?
"Shankman? Shankman, is that you?"
Nah, Shankman's writing is at least marginally humorous.
I'm glad to see us moving in a conservative, constitutionally sound direction.
Hehe. Not so far.
Interested to see how many were received when Walker said he received them, and how many were "mostly supportive".
Yeah, that damned will of the people.
Spoils more Lefty plots and plans than James Bond.
Jeremy said...
Geee, what a shocker.

The AP has them. Ask them.
I think Jeremy interpreted Althouse's headline to mean "Of 1000s of emails, Walker releases 10s" and not the (correct) "Walker relases 10,000s of emails."
Wow! Did you notice the capitalized "Great Recession?"
That's a big admission compared to this administration.
OK, I first read your headline as a snark, as in "Walker only releases a few (i.e., tens) of the thousands of e-mails he received, and they're all positive, so he appears to be cherry-picking."

O/T (but too good not to share): Poll shows half of voters plan to oppose Obama
"YES, WE CAN'T!"
You know the bad thing about emails? You can't spritz perfume on them.
edutcher - The AP has what he gave them.
Get your head out of your ass.
Kent - You left out where the polling came from...NJ/Allstate Heartland Monitor poll??
And that it also showed Obama with a 49/44 approval rating among the same people.
Who the hell are they anyway?
Jeremy said...
edutcher - The AP has what he gave them.
Get your head out of your ass.
It's not there, yours is taking up too much room.
And then go look at the emails. Unless, of course, you can't stand the truth.
Kent - You left out where the polling came from
Hence the linkage. Feeb.
Kent - Sorry, I didn't mean you didn't link the polling. I was referring to the "source."
My deepest apologies.
I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any future polling information via the NJ/Allstate Heartland Monitor.
By the way: President Obama's latest approval rating via Gallup today is 50%
edutcher - The ONLY emails I can read, whether it be via the AP or not...is what was "given to them."
Can you wrap your little pin head around that?
Walker could have deleted any number of emails that weren't quite so supportive.
But of course, you and the rest of your teabagger buddies already know that.
And you still haven't read them.
Wrap your little pinhead around that.
Jeremy wrote: Henry - How in the hell do YOU know if this was an actual employee? DO you see a name attached?

Dear Gov. Walker,

Thanks, The Macho Response.

Meh. All you commenters are voices in my imagination anyway.

no, they did not.
Still waiting for Ann Althouse, a constitutional law professor for cripes sake, to mention the unconstitutional actions of Scott Walker.
Granted, she may have and I may have missed it.
And, to be clear, I blame no-one else for Althouse's acceptance of unconstitutional acts by her Governor.
Man, Jeremy, you sure are full of hate.
I watched a violently diarrhetic cow splatter out a copious amount of similarly constituted "hate," once.

Michael K - Read some history before posting teabagger drivel.
Unions did indeed work to get every one of the things I posted.
The fact that most are legislated doesn't mean a group of like-minded people didn't initiate the call to action to get it done.
Marchal - "Students, let this be a lesson to you."
So now you're teaching the terabaggers how to think?
Other than being one yourself, what are your qualifications?
Fen - How would you or any of the other teabaggers here know what percentage of the emails are supportive?
They haven't read all of them, and you yourself haven't read even one.
You're just spewing the usual right wing garbage because you think it makes you look better to your fellow wingnuts here.
Instead of sucking up, why not think for a change?
You're just spewing the usual right wing garbage because you think it makes you look better to your fellow wingnuts here.
Jeremy, why don't you save yourself the trouble.
Just post the same thing every time.
You're all a bunch of right wingers.
In fact, that is all you ever do, isn't it?
What makes you think this imparts anything? What makes you think it's even worth doing?
Do you have any ideas? Do you have anything do say?
Apparently not.
No doubt there is some Koch-funded think tank revising history to claim that the rich gave that to us out of the generousness of their hearts.
Oh, God, Omega!
You've got the Koch thing going!
That's so cute.

Unions, workers and other memebrs of the labor movement absolutely did fight for, and win, the weekend, the 40 hour work week, etc.
So fucking what? Thank you unions for the wonderful work laws you've been able to get on the books. Now that they are on the books, your time is over. Goodbye.

@Jeremy

Jeremy, I think Ritmo's hacked your account.
Just sayin.
Jeremy: Fen - How would you or any of the other teabaggers here know what percentage of the emails are supportive?
Because I would trust Richard Nixon over the Associated Press.
And no, you still can't lick my balls, sicko perv loser. So stop flirting with me.

Is it any wonder you aren't confused for being a Marxist?
shouting fool - Still the racist, homophobic bigot you always were?
Strange for somebody who thinks they're a musician.
Keep on whining and sucking up...it's music to my hears.
Methadras - The fact that you have a fucking job doesn't mean the rights the unions fought for aren't important to those who do.
And when you ever did have one, you can thank them for those weekends you spend on your ratty sofa in the trailer.
Fen "Because I would trust Richard Nixon over the Associated Press."
Yeah, I remember those tapes he turned over.
You're such a fucking dunce.
Using Nixon as an example not to "trust" an organization.
Skipped those history course, huh?
And why is you and some of the other teabaggers here (considering what your moniker can mean) throw out that "licking the balls" thingie...
You don't actually think I'm going to let you suck me off...do you?
Don't Tread 2012 said..."just saying..."
What are you...twelve?
Andy - "And now they're going to bankrupt state and local govts."
Anybody whop blames the unions for the economic mess we're in a an uneducated fool.
While you and the rest of the local teabaggers were evidently sound asleep, G.W. and the GOP majority twiddled their thumbs while it tanked. (Oh, and we had unions during his tenure...remember?)a
He started two wars, was asleep at the switch, signed an 800 billion dollar bank bailout...and walked out the door.
And YOU voted for him...twice.
Stand with the over-taxed Wisconsin tax payers.
Dumbass.

No, you hate us. Every post you make is filled with vile insults. You call everyone stupid when you know this isn't true. You are motivated, not by reason, but by emotion. The only emotion that could make you behave this way is hate. Admitting it would be the first step in getting over it.
@Fen
Fenrisulven, Fenrir or Fen-wolf. Cool. I'll bet you're the only commenter here who's in the Eddas.
