So what are those? I walked by on my way home from downtown in the flurries over the weekend, and couldn't tell. They're not daffodils or tulips. Hyacinth?
In my old neighborhood there was a guy who would walk his dog, about the size of the one in that picture that would invariably stop and take a horse sized dump in my front yard. The owner naturally left it there as he must have thought I enjoyed the sights and smell of freshly dropped dog crap in my front lawn. I did ask him once if he would be so kind as to scoop up his dog crap and he just ignored me and walked on. Weird really as he only lived a block down my street.
So I spent a whole week collecting dog poo from my front lawn and then one day cerimoniously depsoited on his front porch. I still get the warm and fuzzies when reminiscing of that.
APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain. Winter kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow, feeding A little life with dried tubers.
I have the problem of dogs peeing on the side of the store all the time. Until I put my mixture of cayenne pepper and tabasco on the corner and it is all right for a little while.
Hey, is it all over in Wisconsin? Have the citizens ceded control back to the unions? Or is the desperate call for Prosser ad money a call to arms? Because the impression is that the lovely Ms Kloppenburg will overturn anything and everything that smacks of fiscal responsibility the minute she reigns supreme.
(More shocking that one in five think he's a Muslim, I think. And this quote was humorous, "The poll found the number surveyed who knew correctly that Obama is Christian actually declined, from 48 percent in March 2009 to 34 percent in August 2010." ABC must not have a lot of skeptics on staff.)
My old roommate had an English Springer. Awesome dogs. They're like ambulatory stuffed animals. Sharp, energetic, very cuddly. If you sat down near this one, it would sit in front of you then throw itself backwards and collapse into you. It just liked being near people but it wasn't intrusive like a lab. Only problem that annoyed its owner was everyone would call it she/her even though it was a male. But I have a rotty and everyone calls her him.
If one in five Americans thinks that Obama is Muslim, at least one of them must be around here.
Could someone who thinks he's Muslim explain the reasoning behind that belief? Is it just his general inclination towards deference to international leaders, including those in the Middle East, that has created the impression that he's Muslim?
Hoosier, you bet. And what's funny is, I just got out of a meeting and it's fifty degrees, blue skies. If this holds three more hours, I'm grilling out tonight, just so I can say that I did!
Could someone who thinks he's Muslim explain the reasoning behind that belief?
I think it's plain old ignoracne or distrust. The one person who told me she thought Obama was Muslim was basically a redneck who wasn't well informed and distrusted most all politicians and ruling class types. It wasn't racism though. She had been married to a black guy. (Unless her marrigage turned her against blacks.)
OBAMA: Right. Jesus is a historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith...
He could have just outright lied as so many politicians do on religion. I like that he seems to speak carefully on the subject and does not feign religious enthusiasm where it does not exist.
@Freeman: Perhaps people confuse the nuances of black liberation theology of Wright's church with Black Muslim Theology. I'm reminded of the pastor in "A Man Named Pearl" when he remarked about how segregated America's churches are.
I also think that POTUS encourages all this (and the birther stuff too) for political gain for reasons which have been discussed here.
I have a question. I watched some of the videos of the two of you going to the capitol building there in Madison. Meade was generally respectful but for one thing, I thought. He never seemed to take his cap off when entering the building. Why is that? Isn't it a sign of respect to do so?
"Say you've just given your dog a bath, and it's a matter of getting him outside without his shaking the water loose.
Give him a dumbbell to hold."
I often bath a dog by taking him in the shower with me. I get him to shake while still in there, on cue, by shaking myself like a dog. Works every time.
I often bath[e] a dog by taking him in the shower with me You're oten bringing a dog in off the street to shower with you? Hope you're wearing protection.
I think he's agnostic or just generally indifferent to religion, aside from its use as a political prop.
It's a good thing I'm not the Higher Power responsible for doling out miracles, because I consider Obama's prayer for Malia'a skirt to "get longer as she travels to that dance" as more of a sound bite than a sincere request, unless by some fluke the skirt truly is in need of some divine intervention.
It's also a good thing the Almighty which Obama appears to be referring to is said to be slow to anger and full of lovingkindness. When I hear of Obama asking the Lord to give him the strength to meet the challenges of "my office", I feel irritated. Especially so when it comes in the same breath as his request for patience as he watches Malia go to her first dance, "where there will be boys". What's that about??
If he's going to go knocking on heaven's door, I'd like him to consider praying for his daughter instead of her skirt, and maybe asking for some wisdom in governing the nation he's been appointed to lead.
These Iraq/Afghanistan "kill teams" have been a HUGE news story for weeks now. But do you know that Charles Johnson has not a SINGLE post on the subject?
"Jesus, do you Americans think everyone is racist and gay?"
No. Not racist and gay, but certainly racist or gay. It is well established that you have to be white and heterosexual in order to be racist--it also helps to be male.
Gandhi was racist but this was fairly common back then.
Yep. Brittany. We had one years ago for upland game. Sweet dog. Sheila. She was very sensitive and got her feelings hurt easily. Quite unlike our Chesapeake who was impervious to discipline and anything else he didn't want to pay attention to.
Spring here...for a few days, finally. Tomorrow I'm spraying the cherry and plum trees with dormant spray.
The Demented Robin is still flinging itself at the window. Today he had a big wad of bugs in his beak at the same time. Unfortunately, I suck as a photographer and the pictures were blurry.
A thought on the stay entered by Judge Sumi. “[J]udicial power to stay an act of Congress, like judicial power to hold that act unconstitutional, is an awesome responsibility calling for the utmost circumspection in its exercise. This factor is all the more important where, as here, a single member of the Court is asked to delay the will of Congress to put its policies into effect at the time it desires.” Heart of Atlanta Motel v. United States, 85 S.Ct. 1, 2 (1964) (Black, J., in chambers). It occurs to me that district judges would do well to heed Justice Black's advice in the context of dubious motions for preliminary injunctions. A little more circumspection would not go amiss.

The humming birds are back. My wood pile is depleted, but not completely empty.
Can't wait to see the results.
Hey it looks like Meade is back at work!
That ought to satisfy all the douchenozzles who are so worried about what he does all day.
Dog looks like he about to take a po.
Exactly. Now we are getting back to normal.

Gee, good caller to Rush at 55 minutes of the middle hour.
Good doggie!
Say you've just given your dog a bath, and it's a matter of getting him outside without his shaking the water loose.
Give him a dumbbell to hold.
The shake starts at the head, and he can't start a shake with a dumbbell in his mouth.
You perhaps need to teach the hold command so he doesn't put it down and shake.
Last week, I grilled out, and flowers were starting to appear, green shoots starting to appear—and this morning it was snowing. Indiana weather, man.
I have the problem of dogs peeing on the side of the store all the time. Until I put my mixture of cayenne pepper and tabasco on the corner and it is all right for a little while.
Aren't those crocus coming out?
Are there jacks in those pulpits?
That ought to satisfy all the douchenozzles who are so worried about what he does all day.
"The ground is rich from tender care, repay do not forget"
So is that lovable spaniel named Daisy?
Not rare english springer spaniel.
We are furious about the new book that says Gandhi was gay and racist.
Jesus, do you Americans think everyone is racist and gay?
We are furious about the new book that says Gandhi was gay and racist.
I heard there's a movie coming out called Corpus Christi that posits that Jesus and his disciples were all gay.
This is today's Hollywood.
Indiana weather, man.
Proof that God has a sense of humor.
Daisy must be a fan of Willow Smith!

Once a guy had his dog pee on my store so I follewed him home and peed on his door.
But he looked like Bob Wright was it was no big dealio.
Allium Alley.
"We are furious about the new book that says Gandhi was gay and racist"
Not sure about gay, possibly BY and a bit "sick" as he was know to "sleep" with his grandaughter............naked.
Racist?? Hell yeah he was!
We are furious...
Speaking of dogs and the Royal Wee.
April is the cruelest month
And the kindest, too, when
Wafting breezes bring our noses
Lilac and dog poo.

Must be true...Meade's plot is strewn with autumn loaves.

a lying sack of shit.
Just sayn'
@sixty grit: "Wisconsonite" sounds like a species of rock or mineral.
That Willow Smith song is one of the worst ever. Ray Stevens is positively Beethovenish in comparison.
Meade,
What is that fleece? Looks cool.
If that dog takes a dump on your foot does that make him a "cocky spaniel."
Drudge is characterizing a poll showing that a large number of Americans aren't sure what Obama's religion is as a "shock poll."
What is shocking about that?
(More shocking that one in five think he's a Muslim, I think. And this quote was humorous, "The poll found the number surveyed who knew correctly that Obama is Christian actually declined, from 48 percent in March 2009 to 34 percent in August 2010." ABC must not have a lot of skeptics on staff.)

Issob Morocco for 10 point!
Not rare english springer spaniel.
Great dogs. Friendly, lovable, gentle, maybe a little too energetic. Had one as a kid. Best dog ever.
What is that fleece? Looks cool.
I agree. Meade could start his own clothing line.
Call it "Meades St. Laurent" or "Meade Lauren" or something catchy like that. Trooper could even market it bricks and mortar in Brooklyn.

Also, half think he is black, and half think he is white. They are all half right.

I think he's agnostic or just generally indifferent to religion, aside from its use as a political prop.
Seems that 43% of Americans are, in turn, agnostic as to what they think of his religious beliefs!
Well there is the bean pies and the bow ties. Plus he hates America and had a clitoridectomy.
Oh and it says so on his birth certificate.
Not rare english springer spaniel.
Looks more like a Brittany.

I have to give him kudos for his careful wording here:
GG: Who’s Jesus to you?
OBAMA: Right. Jesus is a historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith...
He could have just outright lied as so many politicians do on religion. I like that he seems to speak carefully on the subject and does not feign religious enthusiasm where it does not exist.

Meade's like me. He does a lot to support the wife's home business. Often a very time-consuming endeavor.
When he can, he indulges some avocations of his own.

I suspect people are using Muslim in lieu of saying; he's not one of us.
Also, Islam accepts only one supreme prophet, and is his name isn't Barack.
His father was a Muslim, another possible factor.

My dad has always had a springer spaniel.
I believe that picture is a springer-liver color which is what my dad has now and always has had.
Brittany's are lighter color.
When I said We I meant us Indians. I am kind of Indian now because I am a global person or person of the world. You should see my cricket outfit.
I saw a beaver while I was walking Picnic Point today. Those things can swim! I love that bike path/ running path around the lake.
And the lake melted!!! The crew was out.
So when's dindin Althouse?
Do you like Brass Ring on East Wash or Monroe Streeet?
Or what about that place Sandines by Williamson or something like that?
Or Harvest?
Something really fab please. My treat, natch. Thanks doll.
Springers can also develop a bad trait call "Springer Rage"-I can relate as when I was on Roids I would have some rage.
