ADDED: Bashed that humungous melon-head into a wall? I feel sorry for the wall!

Sorry - can't watch it.

I can't stand that woman or the sound of her voice.

I just can't do it.

Sassy.

In a good way.

Too much bombast there for no reason at all. Oh well, all publicity is good publicity...maybe.

Guess I'd have to watch the whole thing to get what they're on about and I don't see that happening. I need to strip the aquarium anyway, the plants are crowding the fish.

Wince said...

Maybe we can get Chip to switch the Goldberg-Douthat hairstyles just for the day?

Wow. A corded phone. I miss mine.

It's only a 22-second clip posted here.

If you go watch the whole thing, you're on your own.

Melons are soft and gushy -- a perfect metaphor for Douthat's noggin.

Richard Dolan said...

Like some others here, I'm not sure what that was all about. But it's pretty clear that both of them have been sucked into the vortex and they don't seem to like it. Any possibility that one of them trolls through here pretending to be Titus or Cedarford?

jungatheart said...

lol, I like Douthat pretty well, but he needs to be careful about who he meets on the way back down.

See, now you're just trying to make me jealous.

Perfectly. Awful.

Man: No.

Woman: And why not!

Man: I'm not Jared Lee Loughner.

I guess when you choose to be the token 'conservative' voice at a place like the NYT, you learn that taking a confrontational tone when liberals spout utter nonsense is the sensible thing to do.

The reason liberals, like Goldberg, fear confrontation is because their positions are largely based on emotional appeals that wither in the face of direct appraisal.

Goldberg should have been shouted down vociferously as she went from one inane thought to another, but Douthat just sits there and tries to reason with her to no good purpose.

There is room for reasoned debate, even on the most heated of issues, but only if both parties are arguing based on reason.

If all Goldberg is willing to do is give half-assed, emotionally charged, excuses for her preferred world-view, then the best counterbalance is an emotional response, not the mealy-mouthed mush served up by Douthat.

Why you guys hating on Goldberg? I think she's kinda hot.

Although if you want to hate on Douthat I'll happily join you.

First paragraph above should read, "I guess when you choose to be the token 'conservative' voice at a place like the NYT, you learn that taking a non-confrontational tone when liberals spout utter nonsense is the sensible thing to do."

(that ommission kind of screwed up the whole point of the rest of the commment, where are a layer of editors around when you need them?)

cf Palin. Hated on, but kind of hot.

He'd have more credence if he wasn't holding the phone against his head.

How about a headset? They are cheap.

JAMES TARANTO: The Authoritarian Media: The New York Times has crossed a moral line. “The New York Times has seized on a madman’s act of wanton violence as an excuse to instigate a witch hunt against those it regards as its domestic foes. ‘Instigate’ is not too strong a word here. . . . The Times is far from alone in responding to the Tucson massacre with false accusations and inflammatory innuendoes against its foes. We focus on the Times because it is the leader–the most authoritative voice of the left-liberal media, or what used to be called the ‘mainstream’ media.”

To borrow from Leftist Ward Churchill: anyone who still works for the NYTS is a Little Eichmann who deserves whatever hell comes their way.

If the NYTs building collasped in upon itself tomorrow, I would take the day off to celebrate. Screw them all.

How about poll professor? Re how the commenters view Goldberg:

Vapid witch [from Coketown}
That woman [from Crack MC]
Liberal Bubble Dweller [from me]

A babe can be smoking hot and a leftist moron (but I repeat myself) at the same time. I tend to follow the doctrine of love the hot babe, hate the dumbass ideology.

They don't use the word "civility" the way the rest of us use it. I'm pretty sure they think it means something like "those other people knowing their place."

She is kinda hot, until she opens her mouth. Then you realize, she's not that hot to suffer her foolishness.

There should be a law keeping these people 1000 feet away from this blog.

I still remember her conversation where she longed for Dick Cheney's death. Clearly not the person to be talking about extremist rhetoric and crackpots who commit violence or imagery that could incite violence.
And this is characteristic of so many liberals. They literally cannot see that they sound like absolute insane people. They rant and rail and accuse republicans of being murderers, killers, the Taliban war criminals, personally involved in 9/11 Nazis, then decry the lack of civility in the debate.
To them any charge no matter how foul is justified as they are merely speaking truth to power, and anyway republicans are lower than the Taliban. Any disagreement though and it's racism straight up, or hate speech. Truth to power suddenly is a sign that you are part of a militia somewhere.

IMO, Goldberg is the opposite of of a "Tori" which is the definition of a chick who looks good but only from far away.

Goldberg looks good when you can only see her face and it is just inches away from the lens. But her atractiveness suffers significantly as she moves back from the camera.

Chip Ahoy said...

Hahaha. AJ, could you be thinking of Monet?

I just like the singsong voices and the ironic smiles of lefty girls. I imagine them on the faces of the insufferable interviewers on NPR. I like to hear their studied silences before their faux stammering questions that are fully loaded.

You cannot make them up. Who is that woman anyway? I have never heard of her. Why would I give a shit about her opinion on any topic?

Agreed. I'm not a big fan of Michelle Goldberg, either.

I think she's only hot compared to the kennel club that is Bloggingheads.tv.

It was hard to listen to the whole thing, but I tried. Goldberg really feels that those Tea Partiers and all their talk of Second Amendment remedies sound dangerous. They are strange to her, so they're scary. Nothing like her lefty friends, who hate conservatives with a seething passion, but to her mind would never really hurt a fly.

Michael said...

This chick wrote a book about conservative Christians. Being Jewish and intensely urban and from Brooklyn it was a natural topic for her. Her boundless curiosity led her to the topic. I am sure of it. It could not be that she knew the outcome before she began her "research."

Yup. Liberal gals are fun to play with, but the sex is not worth putting up with their BS on a day-to-day basis.

*waves to Maureen Dowd*

Thats why I partied with the lib gals but settled down with a conservative Democrat.

I've had one girlfriend since the divorce, and that's exactly why I broke it off.

Haven't found a nice conservative yet, but it'll happen.
