The secret to success? It's all family planning and educating girls.

Chip, it was put together just for you.

It is amazing, and one of the more hopeful things I've seen in quite a while.

Love it! But what are economcs (as tagged)? A greener version of the New Orleans Musicians' Clinics (eco-NOMCs)?

This was linked recently in an email sent among a group of my friends. My response was similar to David's above -- I thought it was a remarkable demonstration of human progress. It's encouraging to see how the fruits of western industrialized nations have blessed the entire globe.

One of the liberals in the group wrote a response simultaneous with mine -- we didn't see each other's comments in advance. His take was completely the opposite. How horrible it is to think that humans tolerate such disparity!

Wasn't there a study recently with accompanying spin suggesting that conservatives are more prone to pessimism? Nonsense!

WV: coludi -- members of a conspiratorial group, apparently.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.- W. C. Fields

This presentation does both.

You could say the same thing in a few sentences without the distraction.

The newest version of PowerPoint? Shiny. Imagine how many of these you'll have to sit through.

Love it. Please note, however, that the income scale is logarithmic. Still, it does demonstrate how much the world has progressed over the last two centuries.

Wish he would slow it down to show what happens when countries like China and India move from socialism to capitalism.
