So... Gingrich?

He's saying signs point to him, but check out this picture. I'm scared!

You should be flattered.

That's - what? - wife number four? Five? I can't keep track.

With that look he'll be going after number six, soon.

I could care less that he is on his third wife. Gingrich has no executive experience, which means he has no experience and no responsibility in actually trying to execute policy.

And he's as thin skinned and arrogant as Obama. He was also a professor.

LOL. She's a fembot, baby!

Mccullough is right. We need a 'Newt is Obama' tag here from Ann.

I generally like Mr. Gingrich's commentary, but for crying out loud, he does this EVERY TIME. Why do people keep giving him attention for it?

That is indeed a frightening picture.

Newt is smart and knowledgeable in the ways of government as well as history, but he has got more ideas than a dog has got fleas, which does not endear him to Republicans, particularly not "The Establishment."

I would be SO SURPRISED if Newt got the nom.

So would she, apparently.

The first solo recording I did that got attention was called Newt Hates Me. If he heard what I thought of his multiple divorces - and this fembot - he'd hate me even more.

I don't care how many ideas he has, he's disgusting, and (like Hillary) I don't understand why we're forced to endure looking at him.

Is that the one who was blowing the then-married-to-someone-else Newt in the House parking lot? Or was that some other woman?

chickelit said...

I just noticed that was link to the Daily Dish...

...I thought you promised to put warnings up about that for people like me how don't want to give him traffic?

bagoh20 said...

I've already had my fill of academic Presidents, thank you.

People who have ideas about how to solve problems come in two types:
Those who make it happen and
those those who tell others how to.

The first type succeeds because they take responsibility and they start doing so early in life.

The second type only take responsibility for having one of many ideas that others can pick from - kinda like a palm reader or professor...or a Gingrich.

OMG, Newt married the
Martian girl from "Mars Attacks."

When Newt is interviewed about his plans, he always says, "Well Callista and I are talking it over . . . "

I don't find that comforting. Also, Newt is such a self-satisfied gasbag. I'd rate his chances of being elected as somewhat comparable to those of John Bolton.

Remember what Newt said after a meeting with President Clinton? "I melt when I am around him."

Yeah, that's just what we need right now.

That was the one before this one, I think.

I did find interesting his comments about the comparison between himself and incoming Speaker Boehner. Gingrich indicated that Boehner was a lot more disciplined, and that that was good. It was almost an admission that many of Gingrich's problems were self-inflicted by his over-large ego.

I have heard the suggestion that serious Presidential candidates have to be narcissistic to run. And, yes, Clinton was, Kennedy probably was, and maybe Obama is. And, Gingrich sure seems to be.

But, I don't think that it is all that attractive, and after Obama, I don't see it being a winning attribute. I think that to win, the candidate will have to be able to convince a lot of us that he or she is not in it for themselves, but for us, and I don't think that Gingrich is going to be able to do that. And, esp. not with Callista on his arm.

If it was her, that would explain the look. She never recovered. Newt must be one powerful amphibian when aroused.

Newt still has friends in the GOP establishment here, but he is a snob of the worst sort because he sees wealth and power as real success. All that American history BS he slings are not his true motivation anymore than great Con Law was Obama's goals in life. Sarah Palin is a real populist executive which is what the present war for survival of the Republic needs. Frankly, Gingrich doesn't like anyone. His smiles and agreeable speech patterns are all learned from thousands of hours with TV media consultants. The real Newt is truly a small, mean man, and in a campaign he cannot hide it. A small, mean white man has zero chance to win an election against Obama.

Fred4Pres said...

Newt, you lost me with Scozzafava. If you can't handle her, how in the hell can you handle the Russians, Chinese, Iranians, NoKos, etc., etc.

traditionalguy said...

On the other hand his real name is Leroy Gingrich which should win him more of the South Carolina votes than Obama

He's a historian- that's a plus.

It also means that he knows that gaining power is done through appeal to the mob. You know... those stupid fat Americans who watch TV news and take Cialis and who will nod in agreement when Gingrich says that the demons of the day (Wikileaks, illegal drug sellers, etc...) need to be killed. There's no better red meat for the mob than promises to deliver death to unpopular people.

On the downside, he's fat and white and he acts like a total pansy-ass white boy. I think he would spontaneously combust if he were exposed to some decent modern electro. And he's got a hideous wife.

Nonetheless, he's running. That's been clear for months. And it's good news because Democrats really really need a villain. Plus the shit that will be slung between him and Palin will result in a storm of epic proportions. Having the two of them go at it is the best thing that could possibly happen to Obama.

I can't see him serving in the Cabinet.

Not disciplined enough. He'd be complaining to the press all the time if he didn't get his way.

Best line for me about cabinets and executive meetings was by Daniel Moynihan who probably sat in on more cabinet meetings than anyone in history (James Schlesinger was probably #1). Thousands.

Moynihan was asked if there was ever a political philosophical discussion at these meetings. Was a Locke mentioned? Or Burke? Or Madison, Jefferson?

"Good God no! We were just trying to make it through the damned day!"

He has a number of professional achievements, but his backstory and appearance disqualify him. Just the reverse of Palin. Her professional achievements are rather thin, but her backstory and magnetism make her an attractive candidate. I suppose Romney is the happy medium, but who likes a fortune teller with a spaced out grin.

I'll bet she was tired when they took that and she was just trying to keep her eyes open.

Or something.

As for Newt, forget it. Neither he nor Mitt nor Huckleberry.

Count on it.

Yep, I think this is the same woman that was sucking Gingrich off in a parking lot while he was married, while leading impeachment proceedings against Clinton, on the House floor, at the same time, for the same thing.

In 1981, Newt dumped his first wife, Jackie Battley, for Marianne, wife number 2, while Jackie was in the hospital undergoing cancer treatment. Marianne and Newt divorced in December, 1999 after Marianne found out about Newt's long-running affair with Callista Bisek, his one-time congressional aide. Gingrich asked Marianne for the divorce by phoning her on Mother's Day, 1999. [Source: New York Post, July 18, 2000, Newt's Ex Wife Aiming to Pen Book by Bill Sanderson, available on lexis].

Maybe Althouse or Ginni Thomas could call these two ex-wives and ask them for an apology for using illnesses to grasp for power?

What scares the bejeebers out of me is the thought that we'll pull a "Dole" in 2012 and nominate another stiff like they did in 1996! Senator Dole is a very good man and a strong conservative with the public demeanor of a frozen statue going up then against a very personable politician.

Cheers.

My first thought on seeing that picture: wow—there’s a woman who has had far too much plastic surgery done. Where was Newt while that was going on? As for Newt himself, he’s well past his expiration date. I have a great deal of trouble believing that a Newt Gingrich presidential campaign would gain much traction.

gadfly, now you've gone and done it. You are going to be charged with contributing to the delinquency of an adult. This is all your fault.

Opus One Media said...

Well Newt does have gumption I have to say. It takes that to go to the hospital and confront your wife who is a patient fighting cancer and tell her that you've got this hottie on the side and you are dumping her for her..get well soon.

That takes some fortitude.

Did I mention I like the way he performs on FauxNoise..handles those hardball questions..doesn't seem to mind those tail waggers sniffing his butt...a real show of patience.

The fellow who said, "I'm willing to lead but I'm not willing to preside over people who are cannibals".

In his early 30s he was commissioned to write his first book. After careful consideration he settled on its topic: himself.

I think we can dispense with the "maybe".
