"I don't need to hear the sanctimonious lectures of Sen. Kyl and DeMint to remind me of what Christmas means."

Said Harry Reid.

I still say that government deference toward Christmas is more of an establishment of religion than silly decorating issues like public creches. Dammit, deliver my mail. I get it on Yom Kippur and during Ramadan.

Harry would like everyone to know that he's the guy to be giving sanctimonious lectures. Kyl and DeMint need to get off his turf.

Modern Republicans are just pure assholes. About everything. They know they are, and they just don't fucking care.

Like Greta Van Susterin has asked many times, why did these dipshits wait til after the election to try and wrap up all this stuff? Oh that's right - so they could say there was no time to read the bills they were passing.

tim maguire said...

Reid is an unconscionably piss poor excuse for a public servant, but Christmas is not on the long list of reasons why he should be tarred and feathered for his betrayal of the American public.

On this very narrow point, Reid is right.

Apparently, Sen. Reid does need to hear them. Again and again, until they sink in.

@garage mahal: Why should Republicans care when you care so very, very much? Why, it's almost as if you're a Care Bear[TM]!

Kyl DeMint is ridiculous. I (and everyone I know who has a job) is working through most of next week. Why the hell shouldn't he? Last time I checked, Christmas wasn't til the 25th.

Oh, what a lying piece of shit Harry Reid is. The Repubs have been blocking and filibustering everything for the entire Congress? And that's why we're pushed up against the holidays? Not true on any level, Sen. Fuckwit (D-NV).
The fact that the Dems continue to send such bald-faced liars to DC is a testament to their hopelessness. They will never, ever learn. And they will never, ever be honorable.

It is Dec. 15. Does anyone know what their tax rate is going to be next year? For those who get pay checks do you know the amount that will appear on January 15? Heh, why not wait to the last minute to figure all this out? Two years was not quite enough time for the Democrat President, the Democrat Congress and the Democrat Senate to get around to this trifling matter. So don't get sanctimonious with them for the love of God.

Christmas means the folks ain't payin' 'tention an' that's when we gets to really screw 'em.

Because they work as part of an organization that has been incredibly destructive to the country for the past four years, and we can't hope it will become moderately less destructive any time before Jan 4.

Yea pretty much. Historic amount of filibusters. Have you been following along? They just filibustered health care for 9/11 responders. Because they're fucking pricks. And they will be pricks about DADT, they will be pricks about the START treaty, the DREAM Act, and every and anything that comes before them. They want as many people as possible, to be as miserable as humanly possible, to regain power.

Ebenezer Scrooge Reid wants to see a work session on Christmas while Tiny Tim DeMint wants a festivus goose egg for Reid's scorecard.

Trooper York said...

Just goes to show you how inept old Barry is in the real world. I mean the guy had 59 votes for most of his presidency. He couldn't persuade one of the liberal Republicans like those Maine Twats or Maverick Boy or somebody to vote with him. Or at least bribe them.

It's almost like the Republicans were standing for something...I don't know....like a principle....nah that can't be it.

Garage: With all due respect to a duck hunter and vintage BMW owner/driver, I fervently hope that the pricks, fucking pricks, actually become gigantic pricks in the years to come. This last minute cram down of all manner of crap from our friends on the left is too much. So, yes, I hope that they will be pricks about all the things you list and add to them the astonishing give away to ethanol and on and on. Long live the fucking pricks.

garage mahal said...

Seriously , Jim DeMint saying it was "sacrilegious" to vote on bills before Christmas, then admitting to Fox "What I'm trying to do is help run out the clock." Then he wants a Senate clerk to read out loud the 2000 page START Treaty, something that's been available to the public for 8 months. And, of course, it turns out he skipped 7 of the 12 Foreign Relations Committee hearings on START. Jim DeMint obviously doesn't care about the treaty, I'm almost positive he's never read it. Yet he just wants to be an asshole about it.

garage mahal said...

Like what? DADT? Almost 80% of this country supports it! Remember when public support in polls were justified bringing guns to health care townhalls? What else? START? Tax deal?

Which 80%? San Fiasco and Greenwich Village?

What else? START? Tax deal?

Also not high on people's lists.

You're mad because this Congress is giving the Left a well-deserved bad name that's going to put them in the wilderness for years.

If I was Sharron Angle, I would spend the next six years rubbing Nevada voters' faces in the s**t that they voted for. I'd run commercials, post billboards, "Are you happy now, now that you've re-elected this jackass?"

Harry Reid:

As a Christian, no one has to remind me of the importance of Christmas for all of the Christian faith, for all their families, all across America

Not so fast - Mormons (Reid) are not technically Christians. There are dozens of points of disagreement with Historical Biblical Christianity with the biggest being about what Jesus actually said about himself. A Mormon equating his or herself as a Christian believer is like an avowed atheist proclaiming "and I'm a Christian too!"

Maybe Reid does need a lecture on the true meaning of Christmas after all.

MadisonMan said...

Are there any Senators who are not sanctimonious? I can't think of any.

Trooper York said...

You are very unfair Chase.

Harry has to celebrate with all of this sister wives and their families. That's gotta be about five or six seperate Christmas celebrations.

Cut the guy some slack.

MadisonMan said...

I will assume that in the linked-to video, Reid is talking to no one else in the Senate Chambers.

Honestly, why does C-SPAN do that? Why not pan shots during the speech to show the lack of interest?

Trooper York said...

You know a "Jim DeMint" sounds like some kind of green liquor that you feed an intern when you want to get into her pants.

"Last night at the bar I had five or six Jim DeMints with the Congressman and the next thing you know I woke up with my panties on my head in the backseat of a Rambler Station wagon in Alexandria."

Does anyone believe Reid is a Christian or gives a fuck about anything except Power, money and making his liberal friends happy?

There's absolutely zero reason for this lame duck Senate to "work" during Christmas.

Bravo to Kyl and Demint, for showing this phony up for who he is.

They have serious schmoozing/fund raising to do at 3 dozen Christmas parties each in their home states. Plus a little shopping.

I hope Harry Reid drops dead right now. Right the fuck now. This rotten sack of garage mahal shit and his ever present douchey senility are just to much. Fuck you Nevada, fuck you all.

Well, yeah, but that's largely because hardly anyone who works for the Post Office celebrates those holidays.

I work in the private sector and it's a bear getting anything done during the holiday season.

Michael said...

Garage: Tax has been on the table for last two years. Ditto DADT. You might remember that the POTUS promised that if elected he would do away with the Bush tax cuts for the rich and DADT. Also, the treaty has not been available for review for anything like months much less weeks. Try days. But, finally, remember that Republicans OPPOSE these ideas and thus want to OBSTRUCT their passage. And, in the house, the Republicans WON>

Michael said...

Beth: The concept of long holidays is not unique to Republicans. You might consider the vacation schedule of the president as well as the past early departures of the entire congress. Which includes Democrats. Don't try and make this about vacation schedules when it is not.

Maybe it would make sense to kill lame duck Congressional sessions. That fired legislators can vote on treaties that are legally binding seems patently retarded.

""I don't need to hear the sanctimonious lectures of Sen. Kyl and DeMint to remind me of what Christmas means."

Xmas is here for Harry. It's the Omnibus Bill. Plump with over 6000 earmarks for him and his little elves. No, he doesn't need to hear any sanctimonious lectures from anybody about what Xmas means. He needs a lecture about what corruption means.

And they will be pricks about DADT, they will be pricks about the START treaty, the DREAM Act, and every and anything that comes before them.

Notice you are utterly unconcerned as to the regard of the value of any of these pieces of legislation.

To you, if it is brought up, it should be passed.

But then again, you're an idiot.

Why wasn't repeal of DADT & the START treaty on the Senate calendar then?

Oh, you're an incoherent imbecile.

That's why.

Nevermind.

Actually, you're a not that bright and easily misled asshole who votes for a party of this:

Senate Democrats on Wednesday defeated an amendment to pay for the $60 billion in unemployment insurance payments that were included in President Obama’s tax deal with Republicans, which included a provision that would have eliminated taxpayer-funded benefits for millionaires.

A total of 50 Democrats and two independents voted against the measure, sponsored by Sen. Tom Coburn, to cut a total of $156 billion in spending over five years.
...
As many as 2,840 households that reported income of $1 million or more on their tax returns were paid a total of $18.6 million in unemployment benefits in 2008, according to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service,” read a document prepared by Coburn staff, citing a report by Bloomberg News in October. “This included more than 800 earning over $2 million and 17 with incomes exceeding $10 million. In all, multimillionaires were paid $5.2 million in jobless benefits.”

You and the party you vote for cares not 1 whit about the federal deficit.

After all, they're responsible for successive $1.2 trillion + deficits.

Hey Jay. It's Christmas, that sacred time when the Senate does no work, so I'll refrain from calling you a dumbass - BUT DADT and START have been on the calendar for months now but your little republican friends have filibustered debate every time. EVERY time.

I respect Sen. Reid, though not sure all would agree that Mormons are Christians.

Nowhere in the Good Book does it say the brethren shall wear magic undies, worship the Angel Moroni, refer to Nephites or insist that the faithful keep 10,000 jars of honey in their basements. And no predictions of the arrival of ....Romneyoid (who in proper LDS fashion probably has a ...Temple name....Melchizzadak or somethin' of the sort).

I just don't understand one thing about the Senate Democrats: Why Harry Reid? Why? Why?

They have 58 other Senators they could choose as the face of their caucus. And they choose this guy? Why?

Garage? House? I want somebody who actually is a Democrat to explain to me why this guy vs somebody who might not so readily repel everybody like Schumer or Durbin or ANYONE ELSE IN THE SENATE.
