Well, I am lost. I have lost everything. My girl-friend is not happy. My future in-laws think I am a joke. My land-lady says that my pro Obama-Biden signs are creating a rental value deduction. I am not sure what that means. I am in debt as I was a volunteer.
Now, I have start delivering pizzas. But, I will be back. You wait and see. In 2012, I will be back to consult the re-election of the greatest President we have had since JFK.
N.B.: I lost because my polling data used an erroneous algorithm. The people did not say the right things - that I wanted them to say. So, it is not entirely my fault that my prediction was not correct. I also think I mis-understood the GOP. I was blind-sided, when I thought they would be. I am lost and I hope I am forgiven.
This is final good-bye. I have to pick the pieces now, my GF, inlaws, land-lady, etc. I am finished.
Will there be super-slow replay? Will Ann have a telestrator? Like Madden at the Superbowl?
We should do a drinking game. "Bush's fault" is too easy. We need something that is linked to Obama. Something along the lines of " Staying the course" or "The mission continues". Or, " Only losers compromise..."
Anyway, I am greatly enjoying the President's discomfort.
Besides he is about to embark on his Imperial Progress to far off India. His is holding a Durbur with our new ally and friend.
Or, he is going into exile because he can not accept responsibility for his failures.
Noonan says to watch Anna Little (NJ 6th). Then there's Indianna 2, 8, & 9 which should be getting returns soon. George Will recommends watching John Spratt of N Carolina - and many tell us to check out Mississippi 4, Gene Taylor.
A bloodbath would be fun! I'll definitely be celebrating the demise of the most haughty Speaker I can recall :-)
I just voted... 6pm, polling place, a public school in a district filled with urban blacks and Latinos, douche-bag twenty-something hipsters, and Hasidim. No wait, a very light crowd. Everyone was super-pleasant. A poll worker was helping a young girl next to me figure out the new ballot, and when he gave examples, he alternated between various parties "now, say you want to vote for the Republican for X, you mark here... say you want to vote for the Green Party candidate, you mark here...". Very well run and much less chaotic than 2008, the last hurrah for the scary old metal voting machines. Yay paper ballots!
Every vote I cast was against the incumbent. Not by design, but it usually ends up that way. Voted yes for term limits for various state offices.
When the Missus and I went to CostCo last night I eyed a stack of Heineken cases... mmmm, beer. My annual consumption of beer is probably about a case these days. But tonight - I will sit back with the remote and surf victory, dog at my side, cold brewski in hand, savoring every heart-breaking (not for me) moment. Lotta misery in Mad-town tonight. Just the way I like it! I want to hear Keith Olbermann say that Feingold went down. Sixteen times I want to hear it! I love the smell of incinerated Democrats in the morning!
Our polling place is about three miles outside of Madison. A farm implement business across the street from the polling place had a large sign that read, "Retire Tammy Baldwin."
@liz, yours is the first state to report, and it's looking good for Republicans everywhere except district 3 (which hasn't yet reported in) and district 6, where Chandler is a hundred or so votes ahead of Barr.
I dunno about a bloodbath. I prefer P.J. O'Rourke's quip that this is a restraining order. That sounds less aggressive. Or maybe more passive aggressive. I dunno.
Of course, Arnold as Conan also had a great line about the best things in life.
America's Politico: I am deeply disappointed and embarrassed that I followed your polling and bought the unstylish presidential mom jeans. They are sagging in the butt already and look very down market.
It's almost Red Auerbach's Cigar lighting up time. Therefore I declare a waiver of anti-tobacco laws from 9:00 PM until midnight, but only for male voters over 21...I am still sexist about a few things.
Meh. My happiness that the power of the Democrats is being weakened is muted by the knowledge that the same pack of yahoo Republicans who effed everything up the first time around will be back in power again.
We'll see if anything changes. If I don't see some honest attempts at spending cuts, entitlement reform, and ObamaCare repeal, I don't know what I'll do in 2012.
Would you be willing to weigh in on what happened to Feingold?
I'll do it. He lost. He is an out-of-touch far left progressive who has distinguished himself by attempting to thwart free speech for all campaign donors, except unions.
He wanted to curb the ability of the US government to intercept cell phone conversations between terrorists.
He spent most of the summer conducting town hall meetings throughout Wisconsin during which he came across as a sneering, condescending, arrogant fool.

And that's just a start.
Don't forget the wide river of piss he imperiously sat behind and forced his supporters to swim through just to cast their earnest, albeit delusional, votes for him.

Interesting phenomenom occurred in my neck of the woods. I placed political signs throughout the county for our Pa. Republican candidates, plus some "Fire Pelosi" signs. By the time election day arrived, all of the Fire Pelosi disappeared. Collectors item maybe?
I am very happy to see that the poster child for incivility, Alan Grayson, seems to be gone. And it's more delightful to see people feeling sorry for the gigantically wealthy rude boy.

Not yet. Enjoy the sunshine.
May they reap the whirlwind.
On Drudge, right now:
EXIT POLLS:
Arkansas: Boozman (R) defeats Lincoln (D)
Ohio: Portman (R) defeats Fisher (D)
North Dakota: Hoeven (R) defeats Potter (D)
Wisconsin: Johnson (R) defeats Feingold (D)
IT. BEGINS. ;)
Time Warner Cable chose tonight, election night, to shut down our cable and reprogram all cable boxes?!?!?!?!? What a bunch of dopes.

Well, their just getting off the line.
I want to swim in democrat tears tonight.
That's right. I am a hater.
The bloodbath starts in the lame-duck congressional sessions.
Mmm, your tears are so yummy and sweet!... Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness! Mmm-yummy!
Yes, tune in to MSNBC to catch the early returns from Indiana.
My phone has been ringing off the hook all day today; someone just called and I decided to answer for a change. Here's how the conversation went:
Caller: Jim, this is Jackie from the Democratic headquarters. I'm calling to remind you that the polls close at 8 tonight.
Me: Thanks, but I've already voted.
Caller: That's great to hear. Hopefully you supported Russ Feingold and "our" friends.
Me: No, I didn't. I voted for Ron Johnson.
Caller: (((SILENCE)))) uhhh...sorry.
Me: I'm not sorry
Caller: Anyway, thanks for voting.
Me: You're welcome.
I can't stop grinning now.

It's a movement. Feel the groundswell.
Wow, the first time one of the fictional Althouse characters actually had a complete story arc! Bravo!

Bon Chance mon President. Bon Voyage.
What about recounts?

As my friend would say: "Hey Democrats, this is what happens if you gift the nomination to a boob!"
@kent, the conventional wisdom is to ignore exit polls. President Kerry strongly agrees.
;-)

Re the post title. Where's the Like button?

Have you seen the pic of the prez on midterm election day?
More Drudge:
IL 49-43 Kirk [R] ...
KY 55-44 Paul [R] ...
NV TIED...
According to Drudge its not even close in the IL Senate race...49-43 for Kirk based on the exit polls.
BEK477: "Car in the ditch" or "Give back the keys"?
Geez, now I actually feel sorry for AP.
Olbermann look like an undertaker tonight.... :)
Drudge has 100% zero tolerance for errors. There you have it.
Our polling place is about three miles outside of Madison. A farm implement business across the street from the polling place had a large sign that read, "Retire Tammy Baldwin."
Don't get cocky. Exit polls are bunk.
@liz, yours is the first state to report, and it's looking good for Republicans everywhere except district 3 (which hasn't yet reported in) and district 6, where Chandler is a hundred or so votes ahead of Barr.
Ace of Spades is reporting that exit polling shows Rubio ahead in FL by a staggering +21 (!!!).
What Fen just said.

Of course, Arnold as Conan also had a great line about the best things in life.
Chris Van Hollen is going down spinning....he's banking on turnout.
I know lots of Democrats who are voting Republican this year so high turnout wouldn't necessarily benefit the Dems.
Riiight.
Well, get on with it. I have to get up early tomorrow.
I love that, Palladian!
I think it's going to be a total wipeout.
Here's another funny: http://tinyurl.com/2dmgc7t
Anything to wipe that plastic smile off Pelosi's face.

"Bloodbath"?
That isn't blood. It's the ichor of crushed lampreys and leeches.
Traditionalguy!! Outstanding suggestion and declaration of a waiver.
Breaking out the gin later.
Not that I don't do that every night anyway, but...
Tonight maybe I'll put an extra lime wedge in my G&T.
DRUDGE:
Tea for Three: Coates, Paul, DeMint Win Senate...
Heh.
Rand Paul.
That was some funny semi-literate shit America's Asshole wrote just now.
So is he the cockroach, the dead guy, Titus, or what? Jeremy? Brazilian Wax Bunny? One of the Beths? One of the Victorias? Sipican?
Rand Paul in a landslide.
Maddow is in meltdown mode already.
Lawrence O'Donnell is an insufferable jerk...I never thought I'd see a panel where Chris Matthews is the most reasonable person.
Meh. My happiness that the power of the Democrats is being weakened is muted by the knowledge that the same pack of yahoo Republicans who effed everything up the first time around will be back in power again.

Bloodbath should start around 7 Madison time. Plenty of time to have a good supper and contemplate the stories of huge turnout for the Tea Party.
PS AP, you give up too easily. There could be a Truman-style comeback.
But I don't think it's this year.
Maddow is in meltdown mode already.
Poor guy.

I suppose this means we're never going to see that exciting, revenue-generating line of Alvin Greene Action Figures kicked into production, now.

Nice summary Haz.

The Pissconsin or the Pississippi River?
I lost because my polling data used an erroneous algorithm.
Algorithm, huh? Even in defeat AP/Titus puts on airs.
Interesting phenomenom occurred in my neck of the woods. I placed political signs throughout the county for our Pa. Republican candidates, plus some "Fire Pelosi" signs. By the time election day arrived, all of the Fire Pelosi disappeared. Collectors item maybe?
@AP, that's what you get for borrowing Michael Mann's hockey stick algorithm.
Dear Russ: Monster.com. It works for a lot of people.
Sincerely,
MH
AP, what a long, exquisite put on. Well, done.
I wonder if McCain is going to miss Feingold. It would be a shame if he has to start thinking for himself.
Alan Grayson is a goner. (SMILE)
wv: pewers - depends on your point of view.
I meant "Well done!"
I am very happy to see that the poster child for incivility, Alan Grayson, seems to be gone. And it's more delightful to see people feeling sorry for the gigantically wealthy rude boy.
Gotta chime in for America's Politico, too!
Over-the-top though he was, he wasn't really any more over the top than (the apparently serious) Alpha Liberal.
