The perfect day is here at last: 10/10/10.

What are you going to do about it?

Gizmodo says: "In binary, that's 42. And 42 is The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. Or at least, that's what Douglas Adams says."

The perfect day at the perfect time of the year. Does anything beat October? Blue and gold here in upstate New York. Plus, no ones stolen the pumpkins I put out at the end of my driveway...yet.

Look for the red button, and hope no one pushes it.

It's my birthday! I am not turning an exciting age though, just 7 times 7.

It's not just Adams, but also Lewis Carroll. In Alice, Rule 42 is "All persons more than a mile high to leave the court." And in The Hunting of the Snark, Rule 42 is "No one shall speak to the Man at the Helm."
Clearly, the day is of cosmic significance!

Effing typos.

Leland: In honor of the 10:10 campaign, I'm going to gratuitously create as much carbon dioxide as I can today.

HA HA. My husband says he is going to turn on all of the trucks (5 of them) and the tractors and let them run for an hour.

Seriously.

We are going to bbq a tri tip.

Clean the garden and till in the plants that are done producing.

Burn the orchard trimmings from earlier this year (finally).

And I'm going to try to make mozzarella cheese to go with the tomatoes from the garden as a side dish for the tri tip.

So I guess we really are contributing to our carbon footprint today. YAY!!

I don't think my birthday will be much fun this year. I am forced by circumstances into spending it with someone I dislike. Poor me!

I planted 13 red cedar trees that I dug up this spring and potted. Beautiful day.

Big day for weddings, especially for Chinese couples and for guys who find memorization to be difficult.

Yes, on this day, we are committed to bring the Obama-Biden victory in 2012 and in bringing victory for Speaker Pelosi (224 seats) and Leader Reid (54 seats).

This day is going stand for our victory over GOP and Tea Party.

We will win. We always win. We win, by attrition as GOP have no skills, knowledge, or abilities for all people.

I'm gonna wait a year, a month, and a day for a more perfect day. What could surpass 11/11/11?

But the weather today is perfect.

America's Asshole - I see you are still struggling with English. Can't fault your logic, however, it is every bit as good as your English.

MadMan, wait the extra time and you'll have 12/12/12...yee-haw, now we're talkin'.

DBQ, you have a beautiful life. Just saw your bean soup recipe...mmmmmmmmm.

Well, my first try at mozarella cheese. I was afraid I was going to have expensive cottage cheese, but it turned out.....sort of. Not all that smooth like the professionals and not as soft and fluffy as the fresh stuff from TJs but it sure tastes good.

Practice practice practice.

It IS a beautiful day. Hubby is taking a nap. I getting a glass of wine and my book and sitting on the deck in the autumn sunshine.

What kind of wine, madame?

I got a yin for rosé after the Hippie Punch thread, so had some Yellow Tail sparkling rosé last night.

I noticed the date when writing a check this morning. What does it mean? 10 is said to be a number of completion, and as such it heralds an end to one completed series of events and the beginning of the next series.

jungatheart said...

Tradguy, I wonder if 10 is considered completion because we have 10 fingers? If we had 12, would our mathematics be based on base 12, rather than base 10? (If I'm using the correct terminology.)

traditionalguy said...

deborah...You are probably right about counting on fingers. But the oldest traditions seemed to be based on 12..9..6..3. measurements. Changing to the decimal system was a science over religion moment. I am not really an expert on this.

jungatheart said...

Ah, yes, tradguy. A foot, a yard, etc.

I put my new leaf vacuum to good use.

It's not that I don't like raking -- but this sucker turns a big pile of leaves into a small pile of shredded leaves.

Very nice.

The next perfect day will be 11/11/11 and then 12/12/12, there will never be a 13/13/13 for obvious reasons, but one of those reasons is that the world will end on 12/21/12 according to the Mayans. Coincidence? I think not.

Technology reaches its zenith :)

What do you do with the shredded leaves?

I prefer 7/7/77, 8/8/88, and hell even 9/9/99. Back then, I didn't have to pee 4 times a night.
