"the rudders work in reverse"

Kayaks have rudders?

It ought to be the same as a car, if so.

Airplanes flying backwards in a super headwind have reversed steering as to ground track, though.

That's beautiful, and I love alliteration. It's the oldest characteristic of English poetry.

You became official cave dwellers in date of 8/9/10. How to express that to the grandchildren's granchildren? I know, let's write something and paint pictures on the walls!

Like horseback riding through some of the canyons in the sandstone country (I know, Wack, without the water).

Also snorkeling in the bat cave on Martinique.

Meade does the paddling while Ann does the video. Sounds like Travels with The Blonde (mine).

The flesh eating creatures that inhabited those caves are thought to be long extinct. There's nothing but some fossilized mastodon bones and crusted Kodak cameras to indicate that they once existed.

It seems like when the main web page comes up, the (very large) video is being cached. This is causing some performance problems, as noted by the comments in other posts.

I started noticing problems with the website last night.

Turns out my sister and boyfriend are kayaking around the Apostle Islands right now too. Weird.

The front page is now crashing IE unless I stop the load at precisely the right time near opening the page.

Anyone else having issues?

This is sad news.

Ted provided much hilarity with his 'intertubes' comments on the floor of the senate.

Are you crazy?? Haven't you seen The Descent?

@GMay..

That's happening to me too. it takes about a minute for the page to load completely.

It also happens with the Pajamas Media pages and other right wing blogs.

Insta loads almost instantaneously however.

Is the Gitche Gumee grotto a type of Althouse cafe?

This guy is probably an Obama supporter.

Memo to his girlfriend, run, don't walk. For the hat alone and the stupid smirk.

Epic. Date. Fail.

edutcher: Thanks for obsessing about me, but as usual you've got it wrong. There's plenty of water in UT, and sometimes too much.

However, IIRC, there aren't big splotches of blue as we saw in yesterday's installment of Wisconsin Ann and The Gulch of Doom.

Did you see Osama bin Laden?

Just curious, since the Libtards pounded Bush because he couldn't find him. So Libtards, why hasn't Obama found Osama? Whats taking so long?

I am still assuming the grotto is a cafe, so anything can be said:

At least she did not deploy the airplane emergency slide...

I like read books about places I am traveling in at the time. American Gods is not about Lakeside, WI exclusively, but it does focus on the town.

I think Slick Willy had the best shot to get Osama, but it didn't help that Bush's administration shifted our focus from Afghanistan and Pakistan over to Iraq. At this point, I suspect we'll never know the fate of Osama. But, Obama HAS successfully protected the homeland from international terrorist attacks for his entire first term so far, which is better than Bush did.

I can't think of a president who took office with bigger messes - both foreign and domestic - than Obama inherited.

FDR inherited the Great Depression and plunged us into a World War..

Spare me Obama's cries "bigger messes"...

little cry baby.

What part of truth don't you like? Bush opened up 2 wars half way around the world and left it to the next guy and turned a vibrant economy into a shambles. Also FDR didn't plunge us into a world war ... now that is just plain silly.

HD if you, as I did, can focus on the term "I can't think of a president who took office with bigger messes".. Maybe the specter of nuclear annihilation that JFK inherited is fine and dandy with you.. but if you go back and read the history, there was a reason why people were building bomb shelters.. you know, a little thing called nuclear holocaust.

Obama doesn't have to worry about that.. so yes, he's a cry baby!

When a new CEO takes the reigns of a company no matter how in trouble, you don't hear that CEO after 18 months on the job whining about his predecessor.

Obama whines more than a knocked up teenage.

Uhm.. we've had FOUR terrorist attacks in Obama's first term so far.

Not sure who you've been using as your information brokers, but you need to find better ones.

Bush. He inherited 9-11 and Frannie/Freddie meltdown from Clinton.

Hell, Clinton even bragged that he left "ticking time-bombs behind" to hamstring the next administration.

I just hope you guys know that we get at least 2 years of "we inherited this mess from Obama... no you cant have the keys back blah blah blah" once DHOTUS is out...

Of course, our candidate wont be a Diversity Hire who needs to blame his failures on someone else.

So, why hasn't Obama caught Osama yet?

He's hasd almost TWO YEARS to get the job done?
