That squirrel-beer reminds me of a cigarette dispenser my grandfather had.

Ah! Yes! Like this:

My grandparents had a tooth pick dish with a spring-loaded woodpecker on the edge. You pushed the woodpecker's head into the bowl and he came out with a toothpick. I always liked that thing. I wonder whatever happened to it?

Kind of like this, but I remember the woodpecker as being better that this one.

Boy oh Boy, I had a smoking donkey, but mine didn't have the pack, he was smaller and it came with little butts that would puff when you lit them...I had to whine so much to get that little bugger and then there were only so many little donkey cigarettes it kind of just stood there looking like a dope after. Where do you get your plastic donkey more cigs? I must have been such a little pain in the ass. That was a fun store, however...

Antiques Road Show should give you a $1,000 auction price for that genuine Democrat smoking accessory. For Republicans the item whould be an elephant holding cigars that snips off your cigar end when you pull on its trunk. For Libertarians you need an Ayn Rand figurine that says, "Go Smoke Your Own".

That takes me back. My parents had all kinds of novelty stuff like that on themes of sex, alcohol and cigarettes, including a menagerie of different cigarette rolling devices.

I miss those far less judgmental times. Our liberal modernity is a much more oppressive nanny than those religious, and supposedly stiffled fifties era sensibilities were.

They were naughty, wild and fun people, a lot less concerned with telling their neighbors how to live. My parents definitely had more fun than most parents I see today. And that was with both working and 4 kids to raise. I don't know how they did it. They simply worked hard and played hard, and didn't mix the two. It seemed effortless to them. They smoked, they got drunk, they laughed a lot, and all with the kids right in the mix. I loved it.

From somwhere in the Indian/Burma/China area, my dad sent back two ivory carved figurines. Both about 4-5 inches tall. One was an elephant and the other was a young pregnant girl with the words on the base: Killroy Was Here.

Your grandfather looked like that?

Your mother must have looked more like your grandmother.

Was that donkey's head supposed to look like male genitalia?
