"When he left that night, we didn't hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again' ... I was in shock."

For one brief moment, everyone agrees with me. What am I doing wrong?
Check out new Elena Kagan video -- in shorts, wearing a cape, and vowing to "fix Washington." (From 2009 Harvard Law parody production.) Seriously:

What is this - the blog for Access Hollywood?
Can Andrew Sullivan possibly restrain himself from commenting?
That explains the cicadas chirping this morning.
#6- Youth is wasted on the young.
He's broke.
She'll have fun, fun, fun until her Mommie takes her and Levi's free loader income away.
Does anyone know where they're registered?
Seriously, though, girls have been marrying boys their parents couldn't stand for a very long time. I think it's telling that these two decided to communicate their decision through a magazine article instead of letting the Palins know privately. And thinking of that, I wonder, where's Todd in all of this? Racing around on a snowmobile I guess.
I like the Ravenous ambition choice...
Excellent plan to tell mom through Us Weekly. That will make everything go down smoother.
Marriage is difficult enough without trying it from within a fishbowl. If they are to be married, I'd prefer the media would maintain a respectful distance -- such as several miles away. I also have no hope my preference will be realized.
I had a real hard time choosing between "decent people look away" and "us against the world with our child."
It's a story as old as time itself.
Boy meets girl. Boy loses girl. Deranged blogger and Hollywood sleaze gets boy. Boy realizes what's going on.
Boy goes back to girl.

Seeing as he has long since ceased to be a decent person the answer must be no.

At this point, Andrew Sullivan should predict that all of this will culminate in a glorious reunion inside Sarah Palin's uterus.
Like Kubrick before him, he should have storyboarded the whole thing first.
it puts levy's recent apology into a whole new context, suggesting he was doing this as part of paving the way to be married.
there are obviously lots and lots of reasons to worry that it ain't gonna work out, and one good reason to really hope it does: their baby. lets hope that they are able to make this work.
k*thy's comment at 9:24 made me grin. Too right!
Why yes, they're registered at, http://www.cabelas.com/
This ain't going to end well...inside two years Mr. Johnston going to be writing a tell-all...and Bristol's going to realize she got taken again.
Sounds like Mr. Johnston realized his 15 minutes had elapsed and Wasilla was going to treat him a little better if he acted like a mensch.
Better this than turning into the male Lindsay Lohan.
OK, remember that talk we had yesterday about forgiveness and reconciliation?
I can't take either one of them seriously.
That is one cute baby !
and this is a show. only professional want-to-be celebrities announce anything through USWeekly. they're trying to get paid, just like Sarah.
How about Levi is re-infiltrating the Palin family at the behest of his handlers in preparation for the 2012 election.
And we all know that there's nothing worse than getting paid in Obama's America.
First love is the biggie. And deserves as many chances as it can't get.
Good on them.
AllenS summarizes the situation with his usual panache--the dude is broke and a scum bag to boot
As a parent of three twenty-somethings and having experiences the full gamut of "significant other" trials I certainly hope mother Palin is offering, when given permission, advice that includes the warning:
"Guest slots on teen soap operas, appearances on reality shows and features in throw-away mags will not help the relationship"
(Of course as I write that I realize mother Sarah would need to take that advise also.)
If the Palins ever end up in the White House, Levi will be a one man Billy Carter/Roger Clinton/Maureen Reagan. How many times will he be charged with a DWI while delivering cases of "Levi Beer" to a Libyan arms dealer?
Reality show?
I agree with the last option relating to decent people and yet I felt an urge to express my opinion. I am shamefully indecent.
Women can't help but loving bad boys. And even though they pay a price for it almost every time, many never learn from their mistakes, so it's not surprising that Bristol hasn't learned her's yet.
It will make things difficult for Sarah though. She won't be able to be open with Bristol/Levi about, well anything, because sooner or later Levi will bolt and do another tell-all deal.
Levi's the Russian sleeper. I wonder if they can swap him for someone?
I really couldn't help being one of the 1% voting for "Palin's ravenous ambition has appropriated the lives of the mindless youngsters." None of the other answers were quite right, and this is the one that was over the top.
"And we all know that there's nothing worse than getting paid in Obama's America."
So true.
I can't say that making the announcement that way was a good idea, though it might have been a good idea to very conspicuously go around Sarah to do it. This isn't an anti-Sarah sentiment. If they are going against her the rest of the world is more likely to refrain from attempting to destroy the two of them. Palin's "not happy" official comment could be more of the same... if she seems sort of stuffed and disapproving, it could work to protect the kids a little bit.
In any case... lots of reasons to wonder if the method of announcement was a good idea but the fact that they probably got paid is a really stupid thing to disapprove of. Why shouldn't they make some money if they can?
To be clear for those who didn't click through to the article. Palin's statement did not say she was unhappy. The article interpreted this as "not thrilled."
"Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what's best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives."
who disapproves of getting paid ?
my point was just that this story is crafted so that they'll attract more attention ... who knows what really happened. the USWeekly's of the world are about wanna-be-celebrity-drama soap opera type nonsense.
Sarah, on the other hand, quit her job as governor to get paid. and she claimed she was doing it for the good of Alaska. That is duplicitous, at best.
I don't quibble with her for wanting to get paid, but it should disqualify her from serious contention for the hardest and among the most important jobs in America, IMO.
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey teacher leave us kids alone
(Pink Floyd, The Wall
If the two of them end up on a show called "Bristol and Levi plus One" I'll be right there with you danielle.
And while I suppose people could argue endlessly about why Palin resigned as governor I hardly think it was so simple as she wanted to get paid.
Maye she just wanted to be able to wear a snow-machine suit with a logo on it.
Continuing as governor would have placed her in the strongest position possible to promote herself for national office. Unless for some reason that wasn't actually true. Why wouldn't that be true?
"She wanted to cash in on a biography pay-day instead of solidify her political career to become president some day," is an explanation that just doesn't cut it.
Immodest as it may be to retweet myself:
@HVeinott Maybe Levi had the sense to get disillusioned with being a media boytoy. It's a pretty shallow life, after all. & a bit degrading
So Sarah officially commented. I'm surprised she didn't respond in this manner
I've always felt a lot of sympathy for Levi. That's different from approval, of course. But I never figured he was a bad person. I saved most of my disgust for those who worked over-time to destroy his life and then pretended to be his friends while they explained how it was all Sarah's fault that his mother's arrest made the national news and his family was portrayed as trailer trash.
The whole thing was utterly disgusting.
All Levi did, really, was make the mistake of being 19 years old.
@TRO: "Levi's the Russian sleeper. I wonder if they can swap him for someone?"
Well, they can see Russia from Palin's back yard. Should make logistics fairly easy.
"Sarah, on the other hand, quit her job as governor to get paid. and she claimed she was doing it for the good of Alaska. That is duplicitous, at best."
You know this isnt true. This has been discussed over and over again. Please regal us with your reasons why she should have gone bankrupt AND spend all her time defending baseless lawsuits rather than running Alaska. Please.
We know Who's going to purify the sons of Levi, but who's going to purify Levi?
Levi's fifteen minutes was up, and he's going back to the well for an extension.
Sarah, on the other hand, quit her job as governor to get paid. and she claimed she was doing it for the good of Alaska. That is duplicitous, at best.
Unlike the hordes of mysteriously wealthy career politicians on both sides of the aisle, Sarah Palin had relatively scant resources and four kids to support. Because of a quirk in the ethics rules in Alaska, she could get no money from the State nor from private donors for her legal defense. She was edging on personal bankruptcy defending herself from the orgy of stupid, hateful, bogus ethics complaints being filed by Democrat operatives engaged in Alinskyite lawfare. She did the right thing and I think we can safely assume that money is no longer an obstacle to her doing whatever she likes in the future, which I hope entails kicking Obama's ass so hard in 2012 that it ends up between his shoulder blades.
