Home brewing is not all that cheap, in the end about the same as buying good beer at the store, but it is in many ways better and fun. Plus you can commune with our ancestors, the billions of yeast, that want to do nothing more than to make us happy. You can pretend they are little children and adopt them, saving some of them for the next batch of brew.

I can imagine. It's got to be hot down there.

"Good-Beer-Is-Not-Cheap". There's only two kinds--good, and extragood. Now extra good beer is sometimes not cheap.

edutcher: in an earlier comment, you implied I was a partisan hack. I asked you to back up that statement and last I checked you did not. Would you care to either do that now, or would you prefer to retract your previous statement?

Also, in an earlier comment involving balloons, I linked a less-accessible video. Here's a video with the bad-ass ballooning right at the beginning.

It'll always be 1978 for some in Isthmusland.

That was unfair, ed. Wacko isn't partisan. He's an unaffiliated hack. :)

Revenant: that's cute. Could you provide some evidence? I've got almost 10,000 posts so certainly you must be able to find something. I'm sure you wouldn't say that without being able to back it up, right?

Hack? Debatable.

Bore? Absolutely.

But it will make your liver feel used the next morning. If you have enough of them.

Until today, I hadn't had a beer in a while. There were plenty of other things to drink at home and being MA, you have to go to a liquor store for beer.

I finally broke down and made a trip to the package store. Nothing fancy, but ice cold and by the pool on a 90 degree day--sublime!

Wrong!

You accused everyone else here of being a partisan hack and I laughed at the statement. You push your own ideas to the point that any attempt at rebuttal is ignored out of hand. To me, that makes you as blindly partisan as anyone you accused.

Make of it what you will.

That's disgusting, you perv.

By the way, I am very happy that you, Althouse, don't say The Times when you refer to the New York Times like The New Yorker does.

To the English-speaking world, if anything is The Times, it is the one from London, not the rag of New York.

Keeping firm on lines like this is what holds our society together. Start slacking on language and the next thing you know the zombies will seize the opportunity to mount an invasion...

Just back from the mountains where it was cool and not humid for 3 days, @ 82F. Who would have expected that golf would be possible on 7/4, but it happened. Rest in the mountains is the best, and I had time to read East of Eden. Who would have thought that Steinbeck could put into stunning writing a world view that happens to control my thoughts, but it happened.

Yes, I could.

Hey Althouse...

Have you read this piece about the elderly Pennsylvania woman who dug up the dead bodies of her husband and twin sister shortly after they died, and then lived with them in her home? Her husband died in 1999, her sister in October, and her unique living arrangement was only recently unearthed.

She's facing possible criminal charges. But I sympathize entirely with the woman. I wonder what you think?

edutcher: on the thread in question, I stated the vast majority of those who comment online are partisan, with most being strong partisan hacks. And, I stand by that, based on posting on my own sites and commenting on others' sites since 2002. For instance, those online who oppose massive immig. no matter which party would be hurt are quite rare; most adhere to one "party", broadly considered.

And, edutcher then chimed in and implied that I'm a partisan hack. edutcher is making itself look even worse by trying to mislead about what it said before.

And, of course, Revenant isn't credible: it can't even provide one example backing up its previous statement.
