In light of your sunset picture and the recent criticism of sunset photography, I was making a soft rock joke (Sailing, by Christopher Cross). I guess I wouldn't expect you to get it.
It was a nice Memorial Day here in Passaic County, NJ. Partner and I set up a charcoal grill in the parking lot behind our building. He cooked up some hamburgers and hot dogs, and I made the potato salad. We pigged out in air-conditioned comfort and watched The Stand on the SciFy channel.
Yesterday we were out on the Asbury Park boardwalk, hanging out with the swimwear-clad hipsters. It's so great to see the city pull itself together to become a fun summer destination again after years of neglect.
But what a miserable weekend for news.
The deadly IDF response to the phony humanitarian mission for Hamas will force the President to come face-to-face with his dogmatic leftist beliefs.
For any other president, supporting Israel would not be an issue. For Obama, though, this has got to be a personal crisis.
After all, his presidency is all about him.
Does he have the balls to defend Israel? I hope so. But I think not.

Now if there's a smile on my face, It's only there tryin' to fool the public, But when it comes down to foolin' you; Now honey, that's quite a different subject.
But don't let my glad expression Give you the wrong impression. Really I'm sad. Ah sadder than sad. You're gone and I'm hurtin' so bad. Like a clown I pretend to be glad.
Now there's some sad things known to man, But ain't too much sadder than The tears of a clown When there's no one around.
You can tell summer is here when the sunsets are so gorgeous. I understand what chuck b is saying, but, for me, sunsets are made to be ridden off into.

There was no wind, but I'm thoroughly happy where I am.
That shows in your photographs, and, in sharing your happiness, you brighten our lives just that much more.
PS chuck, some would say soft rock is a joke. But that song is an exception.

If the wind was right you could sail away. And find tranquility.

Maybe you knew that. It's hard to tell sometimes.

(I guess it's also [remotely] possible my attempt at a joke was just lame.)

I was feeling this very acutely, all day. Depressing, really.
Beautiful shot.
Hi, chuck. I was just trying to express how extremely happy I was -- I am -- tonight.
You always seem happy.
Now if there's a smile on my face,
It's only there tryin' to fool the public,
But when it comes down to foolin' you;
Now honey, that's quite a different subject.

Smokey Robinson was so cool.
That is a beautiful sunset.
In case you haven't been paying attention, there was a Blowout in the Gulf.. and Obama might just be having a bad day because of it.
A blowout at an Oil Well threatens Obama. the "hope and change" is at the bottom of the ocean?
The poetry is the Shakespearian kind.
There's a reason for the plethora of sunset photography: It's beautiful!
..the plethora of sunset photography: It's beautiful!
our ability to appreciate, seems to be one thing.. our ability to say so seems to be much diminished.
We have an understanding that anything worth appreciating just might be worth tearing down.
The most amazing human advances is wasted on the crappiest generation of spoiled idiots.
People who have a "good time" all the time may ask what are we missing if everything is so bad?

Listen to the 3:59 to 5:00 stretch closely. I will be surprised if you don't start swaying with a smile on your face.
The setting sun is an appropriate metaphor for our time.
