The live blogging that you linked to in the New York Times.
Have we about finished with this generation's style of cynical humor? These guys are like Jan Murray, and Milton Berle - doing clever when it's been sooooooooo done (anybody think Conan, Dave and even Jon "I'm an idiot, not a real journalist, see i told on myself therefore I'm cool" Stewart - at the loooonnnnngggggg end of a comedy style that's dead.
Seriously - at least 50% of that link could have been written by any of the commenters here before the show even started.
Die, please just die.
And Ann - DO NOT make me read another talentless link like that again. I'm counting on you girl.
Nevertheless, I still have it on in the next room. And I must confess that it is sort of a snooze-fest for me. The most interesting thing I've heard all evening is the guy singing that "pants on the ground" song.
the clash of cultures is so hilarious. there are webpages dedicated to the a$$ of people like janet, serena, and some espn reporter whose name i forget.
janet looks great !!! she's slimmed down since MJs death, and i've never seen her minus the weave. she's a 40 something !! she makes me want to go to the gym.

The NYT live blogging was so self-consciously precious as to be unreadable.
As for the results -- phooey. Of course, Lee needs it more than Crystal does; he'd be nowhere without it, while she'll do just fine without the AI crown and won't have to spend a year squeezed out of shape in the Pop Idol format.
All the same, this result puts the lie, once and for all, to the pretense that it's a "singing competition." Hmph.
Lee was not that good. I guess I expected this after Adam did not win. Im saying it again... That was the last season of Idol watching for me. [saying that for 3 yrs now]
Between Tuesday and last night, Crystal demonstrated that she was the better performer. Its clear what happens with these votes and Crystal will do just fine without having to play the "Idol".
I understand David Cook was doing a charity event.
Lee didn't have a good night vocally. It didn't help that they paired him with the band Chicago.
Kris Allen's song choices are disappointing. I think he should be more like Chris Tomlin (Christian musician).
Can the runner-up sign with any label she chooses? My guess is that 19 (or whatever the Idol-related company is named) has her under contract for a while.
I understood what you were saying the first time. i'm sure you realize lots of people disagree with you (and obviously, on your point about breasts as well). I hope that it comes as no shock to you though that there is a whole culture of people for whom her butt is not abnormally large; and who don't find it absurd.
I'm not saying its wrong for you to find it absurd. I just think the clash of cultural perspectives is funny... for instance, if I told you that I though blue eyes or blond hair was terrifying, you might have a good laugh about it since its so common for you, and so valued in western culture.
I thought it was corporate rock finally kneeling to popular listener-chosen rock. That is really AI's and new media's triumph. I liked the old rockers and the farewell song, too. All those kids got a chance to do what they love to do through AI. (And now Pelosi will give them free health insurance so they can stay artists!)
I noticed Jennifer Hudson wasn't there. One insult too many?
OK, that's done. What I got from watching a few shows is that AI's voting system is broken, judges chemistry dysfunctional and sad to watch this year, Crystal's music sounds the same, Lee is far better in his studio iTunes than live. That I want to buy the 1st Siobhan Magnus and Casey James albums. That Aaron Kelly along with Siobhan could be significant artists in the future.

Crystal just sparkled on screen tonight. Lee was just blah. Not sure this was the right choice, but what do I know?
Where was David Cook, I wonder?

Looked like a real hootenanny.
how funny would it be if Ellen signed Crystal to her new record label.
Crystal will have a career, Lee better hang on to every dime he makes off the promotional tsunami he's about to ride.
its too bad that during voting they cant collect demographic info.
i bet tweens love lee. justin bieber better watch out.
I knew this because I chose to go to a site. But I thought you always waited for the West Coast to know.
I actually watched this for the first time ever, and I just have one question:
What the hell was up with Janet Jackson's ass?
It looked like you could set a dinner plate on it.
Well, I'm disappointed in the results.

jayne cobb -- LOL !

I loved this:
together we are one
It looks like song is Delta Goodrem's:
delta
Here we are
Sharing our lives
We made it through
The good and bad times
And still we stand
With hope in our hearts
No matter what
We will play our part
And now we've come so far
One chance to touch a star
Go higher and higher
Find your guiding inspiration
In a place where dreams are made
With a lifetime's preparation
It's no time to be afraid
Put our difference behind us
While we shine like the sun
See what we've all become
Together we are one
Deep inside your heart and soul
You've worked so hard
To reach your goal
With every step
With every breath
You gave it all
Till there was nothing left
Seek out the strength to win
No thoughts of giving in
Go higher and higher
Find your guiding inspiration
In a place where dreams are made
With a lifetime's preparation
It's no time to be afraid
Put our difference behind us
While we shine like the sun
See what we've all become
Together we are one

Yawn.
But I'll bet there are a lot of airport hotel lounge acts out there that are just jumping up and down tonight that one of their own won.
What I don't understand is why they let Taylor Hicks compete again this year?

Crystal was robbed.
Danielle,
I'm not opposed to a good sized ass, however it has to be in proportion to the rest of the body.
To me, it looked absurd. Kind of the ass equivalent of a woman who gets breast implants that are way too big (which bugs me just as much).

There's a lot of joking around the 'net about the fact that when singing with Joe Cocker, Lee got the lines: "What would you do if I sang out of key?"
What do you mean, if??
"To me, it looked absurd."
