If you have to say you're open and transparent, then you're likely not. He's used the press from the beginning and not very subtly, the press is so smart they hardly know, even today.
It eliminates much of the ambiguity that has deliberately existed in American nuclear policy since the opening days of the cold war.
... the new strategy would include the option of reconsidering the use of nuclear retaliation against a biological attack, if the development of such weapons reached a level that made the United States vulnerable to a devastating strike.
You mean Obama has discovered the possibility that we could be devastatingly attacked?.. or is he saying that we have to be nearly wiped off the map for him to consider retaliation?
Either way.. this is not what you would expect to hear from somebody who swore an oath to protect and defend.
I don't know what to think about this "summit" - I mean that is a lot of world leaders to drag to one place on little notice in order to get Russia to agree to do something it had already previously agreed to do, and to give Canada and a few other non-threat countries a free place to dump some nuclear waste. I mean, even for Obama this whole event is so astoundingly substance-free that one is almost forced to wonder if there was some hidden agenda, some secret decision that was taken - I mean, there must have been some other point, no? Sure Obama is an airhead, but many of the leaders in attendance are actually serious states[wo]men - I can't believe they'd let Obama just totally waste their time, especially since he doesn't have the draw factor he had a year ago.
A bit to do that achieved nothing. Much like the Copenhagen idiocy. The world is never going to join hands and sing along with Obama about Iranian nukes or carbon emissions or anything else. Obama needs to realize that his speeches might be good enough to get a lot of gullible Americans to vote for him but that's it. Krauthammer described the summit correctly: "fatuous".
Well, we've got pictures of him hugging Morales and bowing to the head of Red China while he lectures the Canadian PM wagging his (Zero's) finger. That's plenty for the useless idiots.
If Canada is the biggest threat to world peace and security then Obama and his crew have lost their collective minds. We can hardly produce medical isotopes without causing a national crisis. Get a grip - you are supposed to be the leader of the free world, act like it! Cheers from the Great White North.

This was another beer summit.. to distract from the fact that his stated nuclear weapons use policy has made us weaker.

A chance for mr obama to burnish his peace prize.
agree with Lem re ambiguity--that IMO is what made deterrence work (along with 15000 warheads)

More than enough for me.
Millbank probably plays poker with his cards face up.
I'm waiting for Milbank to write "We made you, Barack baby, and we can take you down."
