Althouse's buddies in the teaparties are acting stupid about the AZ immig. law, but stupid in the normal sense and not in the HyperMegaStupid teaparty sense. I.e., some of them are speaking out about it and are on the right side, they're just working hard instead of smart.
The smart way to do things - one that in a country of 300 million few others understand - is to use leverage. Instead of useless street protests, discredit pols and the MSM or force them to do what you want. For instance, help me get a correction from CNN. That will stop them from spreading disinfo, it will encourage them to do better, it will show them who has power over them, and it will send a message to others.
Unfortunately, those who could get their charges to do things aren't interested in solving problems but are basically just talkjocks on the web.
I always thought a woodpecker was some sort of primitive prosthesis for guys who married Lorena Bobbit, or maybe for pirates who received a low wound while sacking ships.
I only yak on riverdaughter and corrente. Once every few months there. PUMA? no. But I do empathize with them. So why is Althouse interesting to me now? Just a bushago, i was an everything-republican-evil "democrat". Got blacklisted from talkleft just before the election and burned at the stake on the koscheetoe site. Sh*t. I was a blogging heads freak at the start. And I loved to hate Althouse - but took her seriously. Last time I was here I was pissed that y'all were wailing on HIllary. Not because she's not worthy of wailing..but because I'm still trying to find conversation that doesn't resort to mud. Arrrgh. Still don't know where to go. When all else fails, I go to calculated risk. We're all gonna die. see you tomorrow.
That tree limb resembles the inside of my right elbow where the nurses at Emory Hospital Midtown drew blood my three times daily for six days. All is well now as long as I take 8 pills a day to control A-Fib from high blood pressure. It was a scare to the family last Saturday night, but fortunately my Heart Surgeon chose to ride the Life Flight Helo to the Hospital's roof in mid town where she proceeded to remove a clot by Heart Cath and set all back to working in rhythm She gets flowers this AM for sure. There is a fine Health Care System working now folks. My son has also decided to semi-retire me. We shall see. In any event, I will forever be nine minutes younger than then my calendar life reads.
I saw my first Northern Flicker in the backyard this past weekend. A very pretty bird. I'm trying to figure out whether it's him or bark beetles that are turning my Austrian pines into saw dust.
It looks like the Hatfields and McCoys have opened fire on my pines with their scatterguns. Since I haven't heard any pecking, I assume the damage is being inflicted by a silent enemy. My new motto is “death to beetles!”
A while back there was contest here for the best self aggrandizing story.
For the opposite kind of story, one involving an understatement of truth clearly but gently delivered, traditionalguy take the prize.
An amazing story, with amazing outcome. I'm glad you're still here, traditionalguy! May you continue to experience healing, restoration, and a renewal of energy, focus and purpose.

The only "snow" I've seen this past month is woodpecker debris raining down from one of my trees.
The first of my poppies is about to bloom, a month ahead of their typical first bloom date.
Looks like the work of a woodheaded redpecker.
Those can hurt!

No more than you would think just any cock-l-do.

Nothing is tougher than woodpecker lips.
Damn, traditionalguy, sorry to hear that.
But glad you're better; very glad.
P.S. Not being nosy, but offering unsolicited advice. Make sure they test for sleep apnea, an often-unrecognized trigger for a fib.
Nunamybizness, I know.
Grateful you're still here, give or take 9 minutes.
Good luck to you, traditionalguy.
traditionalguy, glad to hear that you're on the mend. It sounds like you are in good hands.

We missed you, traditionalguy. Glad to have you back.
Bushman: Meet the Beetle.
Your friend: Flicker

Thanks Meade. I fear that you are correct.

Those woodpeckers must be intense!
...Continued good health, traditionalguy.
Best wishes for your continuing recovery, Tradguy.
