Where I come from we call that "skunk cabbage". And that's a good crop.

They're showing "The First World War" and "The World at War" on the Military channel these days and my first thought when I saw that little rise with the overcast showing and the mayapples at the bottom was, "Somebody ought to send some scouts to have a look over that ridge".

I know, but The Blonde is watching Lifetime these days and there's a limit to how much you can stand.

I prefer to think of it as the Dicentra Café, with Mayapple parasols.

Weren't those things in the movie Aliens?.

Didn't one impregnate Ripley?
And you got pretty close to one, Althouse.

I think incubation was about a week, IIRC.

‘Question Authority’? Dude, That’s sooo 2008.

Then: dissent = patriotic. Now: sedition. Then: opposition to Bush = principled and civilized. Now: opposition to Obama = opposition to the very nature of civilization itself.

Um, it's April.

Well, now that the Cheney post is officially in the crapper...

Is Althouse up to a challenge?

I suggest viewing, for our pleasure, the movie "Kick Ass" and reporting back.

Damn, but Kick Ass was good.

I've never really liked Mayapple.

Liking that draft pick from the Pack. 6'6" 315, crew cut, and likes to mow people down on the field.

Original Mike said...

The draft started already?

Freaky deaky!

Michael Haz said...

@garage - I dunno about that pick. the guy has small hands, and a narrow wingspan. Might not be especially good, but the Pack does need a lot of O-line help.

The draft started already?

Yep. Had to set up the War Room early this year.

You watch him on tape M.H.? Nasty nasty. He wants to be a great player too, that's everything to me. He just looks like he was born to wear green and gold. Love it.

Original Mike said...

Well that sucks. Given the weather report, I though I might watch some of it.

If they're going to start early, I think they should do the later rounds first. Save the first round for Saturday.

Just sayin'.

Idk, Garage. Here's hoping he'll be the player the Pack thinks, but he does look like a better guard than a left tackle. the thought of starting him 2 games against Ndamukong Suh at Detroit this year makes me (and Aaron?) cringe!

garage mahal said...

The Pack has two old tackles. If he plays left, or right, doesn't matter to me. I think they got a gift at #23 though. I believe Bulaga was rated as high as #9. But yeah, Suh is friggin scary.

And here's hoping the Ted Thompson haters will finally start realizing that he knows what he is doing, and the Favre Truthers can eat sh!t!

Original Mike said...

Has Favre graced the Vikings with a decision yet?

garage mahal said...

No, of course not. That's for training camp silly!

I'm not the world's biggest TT fan but you can't deny that he's had success in the draft. Because of that, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on Bulaga. Now if Ted would only loosen the purse strings once in a while to shore up the team's weak spots.

I was rewatching the 2006 NCAA hockey championship between Wisconsin and BC (to help sooth the sting) and a hot topic of the between periods sports talk and the crawler along the bottom of the screen was "Favre to reveal decision soon!" This was in April 2006. Not sure if that was the first year of his drama performance but, of course, he's done it every year since. Good riddance.
