The 1960s look.

I was enjoying this selection of photos of women who exemplified 1960s style. Lots of iconic prettiness. But then I hit this one:

Ha ha.

And here's a bonus 60s style video — fashions by Elizabeth Taylor, with Patti Boyd modeling, and George Harrison, John Lennon, and Richard Burton gawking.

Yeah--look who's still around. The one with the brain (yes, Goldie is one smart puppie) and the personality.

But where was Suzanne Pleshette in that montage? RIP Suzanne.

Love the lame dancing in the Taylor-Burton video. Man the 60's were a stupid time. Each decade stupid in its own unique way.

It was early in the 60's but there should be four shots of Jackie in that mix. You can't talk about 60's sty;e without using some of her.

The Beatles don't seem to have had particularly good-looking girlfriends (although Ringo did well in the '70s). I wonder why.

If Jane Birkin, Francoise Hardy and Nico aren't represented I won't even bother clicking!!!

The first video really isn't valid since it goes from the early 60s, where there was a lot of 'style' (mostly goofy) by people like Chanel and St. Laurent, but the women at least tried to look like women, to the late, where you see the women (if you can call them that) trying to look as metrosexual as they could.

I remember an article about Mary Quant, who started a lot of that and was John Lennon's favorite designer (surprise!). She said she designed the way she did because, as she approached puberty, she couldn't stand the idea of looking like a woman. She certainly succeeded.

Anybody who wants to say the 60s were an extension of childhood for the postwar generation will get a lot of justification from some of those pictures.

PS the Goldie pic is from the joke wall segment on Laugh-In

Speaking of the '60s, I saw a local news story about a couple high-schoolers being suspended the other day. I can't remember what minor offense it was for. But it occurred to me then that the same people who spent their best years cultivating an "anything goes" culture for themselves are now imposing "zero-tolerance" policies for everyone else.
How very convenient for them..

It's sublime that '60s bikini bottoms look like what we call Depends...so, that, soon, Alzheimer's, incontinence, and nostalgia will merge to make the Goldies happy in their dotage with fond thoughts of days of dancing to (and not snacking on!) The Electric Prunes.

Burton isn't gawking, he's drunk and trying to focus.

Even back then runway models couldn't move like other human beinngs. I wonder when the runway stomp became a ritual, processional walk......It's not so hard for a beautiful woman to look sexy, but only Goldie was able to look goofy and sexy.....Jane Fonda looked annoyingly sexy. Well, she's had a hip and knee replacement. She doesn't have the face she deserves; she has the hips she deserves.

Ahh, that dreamy Eleanor Bron (third from the last in the montage). She was the exotic -- although inexplicably British -- woman of mystery in "Help!" and the object of Dudley Moore's inept affections in "Bedazzled." And she was Jewish to boot! (The family name was originally Bronstein.)

And after all these years, I still find Mia Farrow's short hairdo to be boyish and unattractive. (Same goes for Jean Seberg.)

I must say no more.

Back in the 1960's adult women actually looked like adult women. Not like hairless prepubescent girls, as is the case today :(

The slideshow was nice - I'm imprinted on that vision of beauty - but the video looked like a fundraiser for a neurological movement disorder.

There are few women hotter than Goldie Hawn was in the film "Shampoo". Seeing that film recently for the first time made clear why she became such a huge star; she was incredibly beautiful.

Well if you want to see hot chicks from the sixties you have to go where we haven't put all that behind us!

So to speak.

Goldie looks so hot in that pic. Damn.

I agree that the sixties look is great. It is just not the "when they are in their sixties look" that ain't so hot.

Just sayn' dude.
