What Ol'Peg should have ended with is: "I wonder at what point the American people will realize that Obama could care less about them and only cares about his Socialist agenda?"
I was so impressed by Baier. I did not think he could do such a fine interview, but he has done an enormous service for journalism by restoring a reasonable and hororable conception of how an elected public official should be interviewed. I have never seen Obama actually questioned and not allowed to obfuscate and prevaricate. Baier was persistent and clear-minded, not impolite, but not supine and sycophantic (see Brian Williams). He broke in appropriately and politiely but persistently when questions were not answered or in many cases not even even addressed by Obama.
Our politics would be much better if all reporters did this.
They need to remember that Obama, or any other president, is not a hereditary monarch but a person who is elected for one term at a time and who is making decisions that have a huge influence on our lives. We have the right to have our politicians incicisvely questioned. Most journalists just kiss Obama's a$$. Baier did a remarkable job that will be spoken and written about for years to come. He put his journalistic elders to shame.
Also take a look over on Hotair at the cut and paste job of editing used by Chris Mathews to make Obama appear to have been the victim of a terrible attack by Baier. That reminded me of the media's determination to lie at every opportunity, like the job they did to Palin in her early interviews.
Mr. Baier was polite and respectful. Mr. Obama was evasive, arrogant ... rude!
But then, you realize the President's not prepared for direct questions, so he's not necessarily evasive ... he's defensive.
Mr. Baier politely asked questions, then politely repeated the questions and, because time was short, he politely interrupted the President so he could repeat the question.
The President was irritated by this, while we are fascinated. It's been a long time ...
If there was any justice, he would already have the Pulitzer in his hands. Since there isn't, maybe there should be a Bloggy or something for him. The Medal of Freedom would also work, but Ann and Glenn Reynolds would have to present it
As to Ms. Noonan, I'd be more impressed by what she wrote if this wasn't one of the ones who jumped on the OBarry bandwagon once it was obvious McCain would lose. Sarah Palin wasn't good enough, but Barry, who can't keep Haiti and Hawaii straight (and, no, he wasn't tired this time) and Halo Joe - who doesn't bother to check who's dead or not, were just fine.
As I always say to my wife who claims she didn't vote for Obama, she voted against Sarah Palin - this means that you clearly looked at Joe Biden and said that you thought he was a far better VPOTUS than Sarah Palin would have been.
Watch Tapper's interview with Biden and tell me it doesn't turn your stomach.
Baier did what he had to do, but at one point he appeared to jump the gun before Obama completed the point about a vote for Demon Pass no matter what being a vote for the bill. (The smoke-scree can wait until the election, I guess.)
Would Obama have completed that point as succinctly had Baier not interjection?
First off, I am not a big Obama fan. However, I thought Brett Baier was a jerk. I think he was trying, in vain, to solidify his role at Fix News as the "tough guy". Not so. He is, was and always be "the jerky guy." All this proved was that he could interrupt, badger and totally ruin what could have been a substantive interview. Too bad he didn't show the same "toughness" when he fawned over, excuse me, interviewed Bush. Anyone who says that Fox has even a semblance of fair and balanced is smoking the ganja.
And Joaquin, since when has ANY president cared about the people. They always care about their agenda. Bush was case and point about that as was Clinton. Biggest offender, Your sainted Ronald Reagan, obviously cared more about the agenda of the far right than he ever did about the American public.

wv: hiphype (no kidding)=what Obama tries to do.

Don't forget, according to Obama, there was an earthquake in Hawaii.
If I were calling roll in a class, and saw Baier, I would say something like Buyer. Which is not what I think you mean.
Do Mr. Baier pronounce his name Bear?

I believe Baier is an alternate spelling for Bayer that sells aspirins.
Skimmed it but didn't see the paragraph where Peggy apologized for voting for this radical.
Speaking of which, when does Althouse apologize?

Ha.
And how!
Hi Peggy!
Baier did what he had to do, but at one point he appeared to jump the gun before Obama completed the point about a vote for Demon Pass no matter what being a vote for the bill. (The smoke-scree can wait until the election, I guess.)

Not sure.

Vicky - your tough guy/jerky guy analysis is really just brilliant. Been taking writing tips from MoDo?
Talk to us about their tie colors. I'm sure you have some really deep insights about that.
"Your sainted Ronald Reagan, obviously cared more about the agenda of the far right than he ever did about the American public."
Citation please?
Ha Ha. I get it. This time the Beir did the staring down.
wv: doomab. This is where the death panels will take place.
2nd wv: gongima. Yuk. Penicillin might help.
Your sainted Ronald Reagan, obviously cared more about the agenda of the far right than he ever did about the American public.
Reagan did more to advance the cause of liberty in this country and others than any president since. I'd call that caring for the American public.
