Since this guy probably spent the majority of his life training for the Olympics, he can choose to be as "poetic" as he wants, now that he has achieved this goal. Surely we would all agree there was nothing "poetic" about all those practice hours.
Plushenko's short program was very good but he's past his prime. He should have stayed in retirement. This however, from ten years ago filmed after the world competitions was cute at the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1T61vX4wm4

Would someone please give these skaters a man's haircut?
The rest of them is apparently hopeless.
Normally, it's the artist who must suffer for art. With ice skating, it's the viewer.
I came to Althouse for the comments section.
But I stay for the random booger shots.
Even that looks faggy.
How bout that ski cross?!
Matching those shots with Shelley reminds me once again why my taste in the Romantics is almost exclusively towards Byron.

Yea, he's poetic. This little piggy went to... And this little piggy cried wee, wee, wee all the way home.
"Look at that one.
The last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it."
And yet no one can explain to me why this, Ice Dancing and Kurling are Olympic events. This is red alert ghey!!!

OK, this made my day. Thanks for the chuckles. I'm sure, though, in context, the performance wasn't quite so...exaggerated, right?

This was performed after the actual competition when the competitors skate exhibition pieces.
