Okay, now I'd like to see a set of pictures of the little dweeb leaning over a computer screen, working on photographs of Sarah Palin, cropping her long hair and neutralizing the makeup colors. Because I bet he/she is not sexy at all.
I'd like to see the smirk on the photoshopper's face as he/she decides to make the supposedly natural lips a ghoulish purple and the short hair completely clunky. (It reminds me of this.)
By the way, to be realistic, if you take off the glasses, you need to enlarge the eyes to undo the distorting effect of prescription lenses. But what the hell? Smaller eyes are less pretty, and this exercise is all about stripping away Sarah's prettiness. Honesty is not the point. It has very little to do with what Sarah Palin would look like if she chose a less glamorous look.
This is an effort at defeminizing Sarah — like drawing a mustache on her. In fact, there's a good chance that Sarah Palin would look more beautiful with subtler makeup, no glasses, and a well-designed, more professional hairstyle.
Having said all that, let me add that Sarah Palin's looks obviously are part of her popularity. And I can list many other politicians — female and male, Republican and Democrat — who have won favor in the hearts of the people through their looks. One of them is sitting in the White House.

I missed their point.
Oh, does Palin have flaws??
Gosh! Who knew?
Thanks Photoshopper Man!
She's not exactly my kind of politician, but every misogynist attack - that's exactly what this is - makes me appreciate her more.
Was that supposed to make her look bad?
Okayyyy.
It's not like she's Kate Moss without make-up or anything.
Or Fergie.
I missed the point again, I think.
Mos' definitely did.
Deglamorized, she looks like she's from Massachusetts.
(the other kev)
Epic fail on so many levels.
She looks okay to me.
But then I notice makeup and never see the point.
Ann, that last paragraph makes me think you had a big cup of robusto coffee this morning. That last sentence of the last paragraph screams "Ouch!!!" hehe
If that's what Todd sees in the morning, then lucky Todd.
She's still remarkably beautiful.
What's the point? I don't get the point.
Was that supposed to make her look bad?
If I had to wake up to that each morning I would be a very, very happy man.
I wonder what BHO looks like without makeup.
Some mental three year-old Photoshops an attractive woman he doesn't like and the Alinskoids think this is sooo coool. Interestingly, they tried the same thing with her book and we all know how that worked.
As several have noted, she's still an attractive woman without makeup, probably better looking than Hillary or Michelle.
That's what's really galling to our Lefty Visigoths.
Echoing all the "so whats?"
Also, how is make-up and long hair "glamourous" on a woman? They're hardly the trappings of the ultra-rich. Gosh, I never realized the fabulous life I'm living!
gardeningasylum said: "but every misogynist attack - that's exactly what this is - makes me appreciate her more."
You got that right. The left's obsessions with conservative women is shameful.
@Anne
"Because I bet he/she is not sexy at all."
Silly Anne...don't you know that in order to be sexy in the least behind a computer you have to be sitting alone in a cafe?
It doesn't matter what she looks like. I'm tired of people attacking women politicians for the sin of being a woman.
Consider the source- the web address is http://www.koolass.com/palin.html#.
koolass sounds like a typical exploding head.
I love the Left's unnatural fascination with Sarah Palin. To paraphrase John Gotti-
When they wake up in the morning they turn over in bed to their significant others and say "good morning Sarah".
Some mental three year-old Photoshops an attractive woman he doesn't like and the Alinskoids think this is sooo coool.
Heh. It wasn't that long ago that someone did that to The Won making him into the Joker and the usual suspects were screaming RACIST!!!
Like I said if this was supposed to make her look bad, I call fail.
I don't see much difference.
Yes, paint covers a multitude of flaws, and Sarah Palin is human, which only proves that she is natural born. The haters of women again try to point out here that the existence of make-up and perfume prove that women are ugly and smell bad. Their angle is to show that in her male look Sarah Palin is not as strong as a man. That ignores a woman's strength in an attempt to remind people that women are unworthy to be a male (President). But this country is still Judeo-Christian where hating women is the aberration and not the rule.
It doesn't matter what she looks like. I'm tired of people attacking women politicians for the sin of being a conservative woman.
Fixed that for ya. Nothing worse to a lefty than one of the 'oppressed' who refuses to adhere to the narrative.
I am a 35-year-old female who eschews makeup in general, so take this with a grain of salt, but if anything I think she is more attractive in the Photoshopped version. She looks her age in a good way: confident, and approachable. And, oddly, maternal in a hip sort of way.
What an ass! The photo-shopper, I meant!
Do that to Michelle-Belle and see what happens.
Then there is this:
Former vice presidential candidate and Facebook fan Sarah Palin has taken to the social networking site again, this time in response to Sunday's "Family Guy" episode that appeared to mock her developmentally disabled son Trig.
Palin went on Facebook just before 1 a.m. this morning calling out "Fox Hollywood" as a "disappointment" (Palin was recently hired as a paid contributor for Fox News).
The animated show, which aired Sunday night, included a scene where Chris Griffin goes on a date with a domineering girl with Down Syndrome, who says her dad is an accountant and "my mom is the former governor of Alaska."
Makeover!
I await the pictures of Obama re-done with white skin and red hair...He will be a perfect Alfred E Newman look-a-like.
The bottom feeder fails to see the inner-beauty of the women they belittle. They are perpetually stuck in the juvenile mode of the pre-adolescent unsure of their own maleness and afraid of that which they can never have.
Pity them! They embrace the smallness and failure to achieve what little potential they were born with.
Epic Fail is right. She still looks beautiful pretty much whatever they do to her. So go back to the photoshopping you filthy scum and try again.
wv: genti, the opposite of the Palin haters.

"I thought it was ok for a woman to look like a woman and still be taken seriously nowadays."
Then you're completely missing the point of "post-feminism." What it really means is that if a woman acts like a woman, liberal men have the right to act like misogynistic pigs towards her.
With apologies for link-whorism,
I wrote the other day about an absurd piece at Slate, where the "review" of Megyn Kelly's new FoxNews show focused on her legs and looking up her skirt.

I was stunned by how much better Mrs. Palin looks in the altered photo. HOT!
She has to know it, too. Her glasses and hairstyle are there to distract from her beauty. A strategy some women use to be taken more seriously.
Well, I don’t see much difference, either, but so what, if I did (BTW, do we get more extra credit snark points for dissing Annie Lamott and her dreadlocks or Sarah Palin sans makeup?).
Palin's looks are a part of the appeal which her followers talk about frequently.
So, this graphic artist is talking about her looks, and looking beneath the facade. It's a response to YOUR talk in supporting her.
There is zero wrong with that. Absolutely nothing. It is engaging her supporters in their own dialog.
When you're a politician who bills herself as an attack dog and rips other people to pieces it's gross duplicity to then spin around and say "I and my trademark looks are beyond criticism!"
What a bunch of whiners you are! You can dish it out but you can't take it.
This may be the dumbest attack yet. I'm looking forward to watching the high-fives they'll be giving each other over it at the lefty blogs.
I admit it's kind of neat that Palin is so pretty, but, again, typical of the Left, they miss the forest for one particularly attractive tree.
Besides, this is what she would look like if she actually was an ordinary person without makeup artists and image consultants.
Or do regular folks down on Main Street, Wasilla, have image consultants?
Pogo:
"I wonder what BHO looks like without makeup."
He does seem to go through an awful lot of cover-up and concealer, but that might just be for his policies.
By the way, Ann Althouse got it wrong. The artist is a woman.

I didn't think about that before, but I bet you're right about the glasses. (I prefer to wear glasses and have never worn contacts, precisely because I feel I look more serious in glasses -- though not because I have to hide the distraction of my striking beauty, more because I'm so short.)
The hair, not so much. Who doesn't want to have great hair?
What are you saying Alpha? That you're shocked that people in the public eye have professional hair and makeup folks get them ready for photo shoots and public appearances?
Is this a scandal that flies in the face of her populist appeal? Does the same standard apply to hair implants and botox applications?
Are only the plain and dingy fit to govern and opine?
Is there even a chance that you will say something thoughtful today?
By the way, Ann Althouse got it wrong. The artist is a woman.
Alpha are you stupid or did you miss where the professor inserted he/she in her sentence?
Christ you are an insufferable bore.
This may be the dumbest attack yet.
She's got great bone structure and obviously takes very good care of herself. I think the minimalist look actually suits her.
When I clicked on Ann's "Wow" link, I expected to see a single photoshop, not ten of 'em. It's like the photoshopper did the first one, looked at it critically and realized that Palin actually looks fine. Better do another one - damn, she still looks great! How about this one... Nope.
Finally, after 10 attempts, he gives up in frustration, hoping that the weird putty-colored lips he put on her will be enough to convince everyone that she's really a hag in sexy librarian's clothing.
Beta Rube has questions. Lots.
What are you saying Alpha? That you're shocked that people in the public eye have professional hair and makeup folks get them ready for photo shoots and public appearances? .
No. I said nothing of the sort. My words were rather clear. It's fair game to look beneath her facade.
Is this a scandal that flies in the face of her populist appeal? .
No. She is a poser, a faker pretending to be one of the normal folk. She is not. She is rich. lifting her facade helps reveal that.
Does the same standard apply to hair implants and botox applications?.
Have at it.
Are only the plain and dingy fit to govern and opine?.
No. Your words. Not mine.
Is there even a chance that you will say something thoughtful today? .
Did that already. You reacted by playing with your strawman. As a reminder, debating a strawman is a form of mental masturbation.
AlphaLiberal said..."Besides, this is what she would look like if she actually was an ordinary person without makeup artists and image consultants."
You are a fool. Ordinary women learn how to do their own makeup and hair and do a great job. Frankly, Sarah's makeup and hair look homestyle to me. I think if she had a great stylist, her makeup and hair would be much better.
As for the "he/he"... it's a typo, obviously, and a funny one, but I will correct it.
The hair, not so much. Who doesn't want to have great hair?
True.
It might just be me, but I think her neck appears more attractive when her hair in pulled out of the way.
If I were Sarah's beauty consultant, the one thing I'd work on with her is her (lack of) eyebrows. I just don't get the drawn-in eyebrow thing. Also, I'd steer clear of pale pink as a wardrobe color.
And although I said there's no difference, I will say that she is not beautiful. Very normal-looking and slim. But not beautiful.
Gosh golly - Leftwingers out there can photoshop anybody! Lots of women wear makeup and style their hair. Why don't you unmask all of us, you sweet tender deep-thinking leftists?
If looking normal is a flaw, she ain't got any:
She still looks beautiful.
If I were Sarah's beauty consultant, the one thing I'd work on with her is her (lack of) eyebrows. I just don't get the drawn-in eyebrow thing. Also, I'd steer clear of pale pink as a wardrobe color.

oooo & while you're at it - please fill us in on how and why John Edwards is so rich?
I hear he speaks to dead people.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Not that it's relevant to her political viability, but she's still beautiful. I'm a troglodyte who thinks that your character shows in your face.
I will say that she is not beautiful. Very normal-looking and slim. But not beautiful.
I guess that depends on what you consider beautiful. Take a look at your average 'supermodel' and without the glitz they're about as normal looking a a biscuit shy of malnutrition as you can get.
Messing people up with Photoshop isn't a smart tactic. That sword can cut both ways.
Sad to see Ann fall into the annoying Brit affectation in the form of "Having said that, let me ...." The "having" is taken to modify the silent "you" ["you let me ...] which is not what she means.
Better to avoid trouble by saying "That said, let me ..." or skip the into phrase altogether.
HD, yes. Beauty is very subjective.
My daughter is beautiful.
No. She is a poser, a faker pretending to be one of the normal folk. She is not. She is rich. lifting her facade helps reveal that.
Well, she's rich now.
Okay, now I'd like to see a set of pictures of the little dweeb … Because I bet he/she is not sexy at all.

Apparently AlphaLiberal is against social mobility. I know, it's horrible to think that a peasant can pull themselves up by the bootstraps and own their own businesses in this country, then go on to win high elected office.
How many elephants died to build that ivory tower, Alpha? You know, they never forget...
Incidentally, KellyAnne is the type of woman I'd end up becoming friends with. In fact, her profile and cartoons remind me of an artist friend. Except my Denver artist friend is somewhat more talented. Same thing going on though, few friends, exceedingly diet-restrictive, a bit goth, somewhat 'Morticia.'
Not to mention that the little dweeb's HTML sucks bilge water ("roll the cursor"?).
De-glorifying, not so much de-glamorizing.
Interesting how the hair changes everything. Maybe its an example of 1 Corinthians 11:15 in action
"but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering."
Can somebody do a photoshop on Hillary and make her more glamorous?
The glamour look in women's hair and make up is my favorite look. Although if you spend some time with women wearing no make up, then their inner personalities becomes a glamour that soon makes them seem more beautiful than a model's look. That said, the time spent on the hair, face and outfit Colors makes a face/persona seem strong and "all there", as opposed to weak, washed out and disappearing into the background. Ask any artist. Also, the orange make up worn by all men on TV shows is to overcome that same washed out look , but is totally unnecessary for men with brown skin like President Obama.
ha! Kellyanne sports the Amy Bishop hairstyle.
AlphaLiberal writes: "By the way, Ann Althouse got it wrong. The artist is a woman."
Well, then, she, is a hack. In the next-to-last photoshopped picture, she clearly replaced Sarah Palin's ear with a differently shaped ear in the wrong place. (But then, all her previous experience has probably been drawing Hitler moustaches on photos of Bush.)
AlphaLiberal said:

Rich by what standard, Alpha? She was born with wealth? No. She hit the lottery? No. They made money with in small business? Well, yes. And she earned a salary while governor and as a regulator on the oil & gas board. Does that then mean you're not "normal folk?"
She didn't really hit paydirt until her book deal. As far as her trademark look, she looked that way when she was mayor of little Wasilla, Alaska.
If having money makes you not "normal folk," or a book deal makes you not "normal folk," then Obama, Hillary, & Bill aren't normal folk either.
It just looks like a gay Palin to me. It's the N.O.W. look.
It's amazing that this woman who has lived an inspiring life and was selected to run and lose an office with no power is so scary. In comparison, that men like Obama or Edwards with their biographies and their beliefs in historically devastating ideologies can inspire hope. I guess that's how those ideologies got the power to do so much damage in the past.
I understand disagreement with her ideas about politics, but to have unhinged hatred for such a woman is a telling sign. She has lived a life which seems to me to be an ideal of American values. I have made entirely different life choices from this woman and disagree with her on plenty, but I have to respect her as an exceptional person.
The hatred of her makes those people look very small and ugly.
Actually, her degamorized look distinctly reminded me of former Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro.
That was when women were trying to look serious and slightly manly to be considered a valid politician.
Chauvinist that I am, I thought she actually looked more like a serious politician in the retouched version. Maybe your monitor is different from mine, but I didn't see "ghoulish purple" in the lips. And I like short hair (though, true, the short hair looks totally unrealistic given that they're just cropping off her beehive).
"Chauvinist that I am, I thought she actually looked more like a serious politician in the retouched version."
I've always considered my decision to wear my hair somewhat long and usually loose a bit of a trade off on my "professional" look (I'm an attorney). Ms. Palin's campaign updo actually inspired me to start wearing mine up when I want to look particularly professional, our of fear that with it long and down I may look "better" from a land a date perspective, but not from a win a case perspective.
- Lyssa
Maybe Palin anti-hero Tina Fey could do the ultimate Palin impression by dropping her "trademark hairstyle, makeup, glasses and accessories"?
Oops, Fey is busy posing on the cover of Vogue, with her facial scar airbrushed out.
(For the record, neither woman should be assailed for wanting to look her best when in the public eye.)
bagoh20 said: "I understand disagreement with her ideas about politics, but to have unhinged hatred for such a woman is a telling sign. . . . The hatred of her makes those people look very small and ugly."
I don't know about other ambitious female peers of mine, but the treatment of Ms. Palin since 2008 has scared the crap out of me. I was in law school, had always thought of myself as a high achiever, and would have completely laughed off the idea that my sex would work against me in my career.
Ms. Palin was something of an inspiration; although she was a confirmation of what I already considered possible. Here was a woman who was doing a lot of what I wanted to do- she had a powerful career but was also able to be a wife and mother (My husband and I decided that I would go to law school on the plan that I would be the breadwinner). She didn't sacrifice her femininity but still played with the big boys.
But instead I saw her ripped to shreads, her governorship destroyed by lawsuits, lies about her repeated over and over again until they might as well be true, and considered unworthy by the intellectual classes.
She's doing a lot to use it to her advantage; perhaps even doing better because of it, so I'm feeling better about it than I was after the election. But I'm a heck of a lot more cautious about sexism than I used to be.

@lyssa
But instead I saw her ripped to shreads, her governorship destroyed by lawsuits, lies about her repeated over and over again until they might as well be true, and considered unworthy by the intellectual classes.
I'm with you on most of your comment, but this part is what makes me the most weary of SP as a true leader and not just a figurehead. I'm still a bit murky as to why she didn't square her shoulders to the challenge and finish her term in SPITE of the haranguing. On the other hand, I believe it can be argued that her governorship wasn't destroy, but that she opted out in order to make a bigger splash elsewhere.
Either way, it's troublesome for me.
Are you kidding me?? She's still gorgeous! I'd say the vast majority of women in this country would love to look that good sans makeup and up-do. I know I would.
Headless blogger, you're right: I read somewhere, during the campaign, that early on she adopted the glasses and sort of plain hairstyle (often just pulled up in back) to take down her good looks a notch or two. She wanted to be taken seriously for her ideas, not her attractiveness.
I was bemused by the "artist's" apparent belief that taking the glasses off reduces her attractiveness. That wouldn't work in the movies, would it?
I'm still a bit murky as to why she didn't square her shoulders to the challenge and finish her term in SPITE of the haranguing.
Still murky despite it being explained to you in painful detail by many commentators on this blog and being plainly PLAINLY explained by Sarah Palin herself. Murky? or willfully obtuse?
To Lisa: the myth of feminism and feminine equality is just one big lie that has been foisted on unsuspecting young women. There will always be a segment of society that wants women to be 'less' and will actively work to deny equal opportunity and actively discriminate against women.
Unfortunately, many of those are also women who do not want to see other women succeed and will do the typical backbitting, bitter cat scratching to bring you down.
The myth of feminism and women's solidarity has been exposed by all the vitrol and hatred directed at Palin because she DARES to ignore the myth makers and found her own path.
"I'm still a bit murky as to why she didn't square her shoulders to the challenge and finish her term in SPITE of the haranguing."
I think a politician should finish their term in the face of most challenges, but in this case, I just think it was smart to resign. It was better for the state, herself, her family and her ambition to be more influential.
Her enemies would have succeeded in ruining the rest of her term as well as bankrupting her keeping her of the national stage. That was the intent and she outflanked them. There really was no other intelligent choice. They were counting on her to be the bull running on to the sword. Instead she is in the national spotlight, influencing millions and making millions.
I think it was the best decision of her life, but there was no way to make it without facing the cost of being called a quitter. People just have to think rather than feel about that.
So, the side that TOTALLY respects women...yet again resorts to calling women they don't like "ugly". Happened to Tripp. Happened to Harris. Happening to Palin. It seems to be a trens.
Yet misogynist conservatives avoid doing that with the likes of Mikulski, Boxer, etc...none of whom are about to become finalists for Miss America. We mock their arrogance and crap policy preferences...but not their looks.
First off, I think she pretty much looks great in both versions of the pictures. Her beauty comes from her eyes and her smile and the line of her cheeks and jaw and none of that is affected by the photoshopping. The one on the book cover, though different from the original, looks quite amazing. And very Alaskan by my admittedly out-of-state reckoning.
"But I'm a heck of a lot more cautious about sexism than I used to be."
And what's really eye-popping has been the unhinged, left-wing sexism. At the first sign of trouble they abandoned their purported principles and just became the rankest sexists seen in this country since the dawn of Women's Lib in the '60s and '70s. It has been just breathtaking to watch.
"Unfortunately, many of those are also women who do not want to see other women succeed and will do the typical backbitting, bitter cat scratching to bring you down."
Are you including Keith Olbermann in this group?
I read the title too quickly at first:
Deglazing Sarah Palin
Pouring in a little wine and scraping the fond from the bottom of the skillet.
Makes a tasty sauce.
I'm straight and I'd like to wake up to that. Just sayin'.
At the first sign of trouble they abandoned their purported principles
Because they are not principles, just tactics.
Scott, as DBQ said, I know that you've heard the explanations as to why it was a problem for Ms. Palin to finish her term, so I won't repeat them.
That said, the governorship was just extra, really. I would have (and did) said the same thing before she stepped down. It was the constant attacks, lies, threats of sexual violence (how often did left-wing women joke about how they'd like to see her raped? Sickening!), and attacks on her kids that really put me in a funk.
-Lyssa
I think it was the best decision of her life, but there was no way to make it without facing the cost of being called a quitter.
I think her best decision was probably her decision not to play ball with the corrupt local party establishment. It's what distinguishes her from the Obamas of the world. And what brought her to national prominence -- what McCain saw in her -- even if the public as a whole doesn't seem to be particularly aware that she rose in Alaska politics by standing up for good governance against her own party's corruption.
yet again resorts to calling women they don't like "ugly". Happened to Tripp. Happened to Harris. Happening to Palin. It seems to be a trens.
How come Hillary! isn't on your list?
Check out the image of the "artist" in the link from Chip Ahoy.
She's adorned with quite a bit of makeup herself. So much, that kentuckyliz might refer to that as "c***sucker lipstick".
She's not a hideous woman, and I hate to say something that might hurt her feelings, but glass houses, yada yada yada.
"Yet misogynist conservatives avoid doing that with the likes of Mikulski, Boxer, etc...none of whom are about to become finalists for Miss America. We mock their arrogance and crap policy preferences...but not their looks."
To be fair, these women (Pelosi and Clinton more so than the ones that you listed, but surely just because they're more in the public eye), do take a lot of ripping on their looks. (John McCain's out of line joke about Janet Reno being Chelsea Clinton's father comes to mind).
But if it's just that, I'd be OK, everyone in the public eye gets ripped on. But that's just a symptom of the deep misogyny that comes out more fully in liberals' obsessions with conservative women's sex lives (Sullivan), jokes about violence, particularly sexual violence, attacks on their kids, destructive lies and belittleing, etc.
- Lyssa
Who has called Hillary ugly? She isn't of the correct political persuasion to be called that?
@MM
How come Hillary! isn't on your list?
Speaking as an avowed Hillaryphobe, I can honestly and openly admit that my disgust for her has zero to do with her plumbing. She's a triangulating, double-talking, lying, awful person. I'm hoping we've seen the pinnacle of her political career with a marginalized SoS appointment.
Must defend Palin!
I've not heard Hillary called ugly and the worst I've heard about Pelosis looks is her rather apparent botox usage. I don't see conservatives going to "well, you're ugly" all that often, honestly. Its quite funny in the political arena since pols don't tend be hot as is.
Obama's dreaminess is not the same as Palin's dreaminess, apparently.
Re: damikesc:
Who has called Hillary ugly? She isn't of the correct political persuasion to be called that?
I think back in the 90s, there were a lot of jokes about how she looked. But part of the reason those have jokes subsided is that she's aged quite gracefully -- in my opinion, at least. She's not, and never has been, a great beauty, but she has aged well.
People still laugh at her witch's cackle, though -- you've seen the picture with her in a witch hat and her skin coloured green, right?
I hope like hell she never, ever lets a hair stylist take a razor to her hair. That 'just escaped the deranged slasher' look is terrible.
AlphaLiberal --
"Or do regular folks down on Main Street, Wasilla, have image consultants?"
They used to be called beauty parlors and they didn't restrict their clientelle. Same places, different names today. Ask your mom.
I call Helen Thomas ugly all the time.
But I mean her soul.
Alpha went out of his way to bring up this in the cafe thread and is now in the process of having his head handed to him.
Every politician is made up and dressed for public appearances and Barry Soetaro is undoubtedly is more stage-managed than any woman - including Sarah Palin, quite possibly because he is the vainest human being on the planet, but Alpha wants to make her wear a Scarlet Letter for it. Once again, the "compassion" and "empathy" of the Alinsky Left.

A little know fact before the election and now a state secret.
You heard it here first.
Obama is a white man.
What are you trying to tell us, David, that before Obama puts on his makeup, he's the same color as Michael Jackson?
There was an AP photographer who tried for years to take a photo that showed Ronald Reagan as looking old and confused. He failed. Reagan had a movie star's knack of never taking a bad picture. There's something of that with Sarah. Even photoshopped, she looks good. In fact, in some of the pictures she looks scrubbed and more authentic. There's no getting around the fact that she's good looking, and the camera loves her.....The Secret Service should be on guard not for a lone, mad gunman but for a liberal taliban with a bottle of acid. To hate Palin for her good looks is as crazy as hating her for raising a handicapped child or praying for her son going to war....I think Sarah Palin sincerely wants to be rich and famous but I believe absolutely that she would never play the kind of angles that John Edwards did to achieve those goals. She's a good person who leads a good life.
I don't recall Ferraro looking that good. A bustling lady with a hat.
Like living at an airport, somebody put it.
She looks fine, either way, but why the butch haircut? EVERY woman looks worse with a butch haircut.

Lyssa...The political power players don't worry about sexism any more than they worry about racism. And the good old boys network is still there taking all of the credit for any women's work, when thay can do it behind the scenes, just as if it is their birthright to it. That is why Sarah Palin is such a crisis for the business as usual crowd...she gets the credit for what she does. The attacks upon her falsely say that she has no credit due to her because she: (take your pick) 1) is mean 2) is unethical 3) is nuveaux riche 4) is greedy for money 5) is a prima donna 6) is uneducated 7) is a phony....and on and on. All are false. The truth is that she started in state politics by taking on the GOP good old boys, and she has no fear of claiming credit for her accomplishments. Palin's recent support for John McCain's re-election bid tells the world that her being picked for VP by John in 2008 was an accomplishment of hers, and she refuses to let Heyward spin it into a bad thing done by a RINO.
There's something rather ghoulish about this exercise.
Hillary has never really been above average in looks. She had a cuteness when she was young, but not even that cute, IMHO. But she is evidence of what you can do with a fair amount of money devoted to looks. I saw Melinda Gates this weekend, and didn't recognize her. Back before she married the wealthiest man in the world at the time, she looked geekish. Now, she is very good looking - now if she would just apply some of that to her husband...
I think at one time that Nancy Pelosi was probably very good looking. But she is of an age where not much helps. Of course, that assumes that you can concentrate on her looks, given her harpy disposition.
As for Sarah Palin, I like the way she looks normally, but don't really like her looks as much when her hair is down. The bangs are ok when her hair is up, but I don't like the combination with the flipped or curled ends of her hair when she wears it down. But I don't know if straighter hair would work any better down. It also looks like she uses too much hair spray (IMHO) when her hair is down. Too much, at least for me.
The problem with long hair worn down is that that is what young women wear. As a friend said, this is part of being attractive for attracting guys. And that older women need to leave such to the younger women (despite herself wearing her hair as long as Palin does, having bangs, and being about a decade older).
So, I always get the impression of women over 40 (including that friend) who wear long hair down is that they are refusing to face their age. Of course, if they let their hair go gray, like men do, I might not feel as strongly there...
That all said, this is nitpicking. I really do think that Mrs. Palin is a very beautiful woman. And, yes, I think probably better looking w/o the glasses.
Thanks for the links Chip Ahoy. It's now glaringly obvious what motivates the Palin photoshop artist-jealousy!
William:
"There's no getting around the fact that she's good looking, and the camera loves her.....The Secret Service should be on guard not for a lone, mad gunman but for a liberal taliban with a bottle of acid."
And then watch for liberal heads to explode in incomprehension when we rally around her even more after such an attack, heaven forbid.
They don't understand the appeal of good values, good character and raw decency. We don't even have to form a cult to support a decent person like Palin.
Ann Althouse spews thusly:
You are a fool. Ordinary women learn how to do their own makeup and hair and do a great job. Frankly, Sarah's makeup and hair look homestyle to me. I think if she had a great stylist, her makeup and hair would be much better. .
Touchy much? You wrote "he" and your minions followed your lead. All I did was point out it was a woman.
It matters. After all, there are many women who have criticisms of makeup in general (see "Beauty myth"). Makeup is also a mask, especially for Sarah Palin.
And, dear foolish, poorly informed and always presumptuously arrogant Ann Althouse; you don't know what you're talking about as you hurl your insults:
Who was the highest paid individual in Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign during the first half of October as it headed down the homestretch?
Not Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCain’s chief foreign policy adviser; not Nicolle Wallace, his senior communications staffer. It was Amy Strozzi, Gov. Sarah Palin’s traveling makeup artist, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday night.
Ms. Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy award for her makeup work on the television show “So You Think You Can Dance?”, was paid $22,800 for the first two weeks of October alone, according to the records. The campaign categorized Ms. Strozzi’s payment as “Personnel Svc/Equipment.” .
I expect an apology.
I really am not that surprised at the way and extent that liberal women hate Sarah Palin.
As a guy, I live in guy world, where most aggression is pretty much out in the open. I don't live in, or really react that much with girl world. But I became somewhat sensitized to it as a parent. And I find that women seem far more jealous and aggressive towards each other than men do. What is a bit scary sometimes is realizing that many women in their fifties seem often little different towards each other than they were 40 years before when they were in high school. And one thing that so many hated even back then were the beautiful girls who always got the hot guy or the great job, because most girls (and women) are not that stunning (on the average - remember the bell curve). Like I said, jealous.
So, you have a bunch of women who probably weren't the hottest girls around when they were in high school and college, who tried to make it on their education and hard work. All of a sudden, here comes a woman from hicksville, Alaska, jumping onto the stage at the RNC because, they believe, her looks. And even after being soundly trounced in the election, quitting her job as governor, she is still on TV and listened to by much of America.
This is worse, because she is listened to by many more women these days than listen to the feminists who so despise her. Think back to those middle school and high school popularity contests, and how shrewish the losers of those contests were.
Hoosier Daddy, having nothing of merit to say, spews the insults:
Alpha are you stupid or did you miss where the professor inserted he/she in her sentence?
Christ you are an insufferable bore. .
She wrote "he/he." I also interpreted this to refer to a male, as it usually does:
Okay, now I'd like to see a set of pictures of the little dweeb leaning over a computer screen,
to paraphrase the guy in the big suit:
Facts are funny
Facts are cruel
Facts won't do
What Ann wants them to
Bruce Hayden, do you base ANY of your attacks on liberal female critics of Sarah Palin from actually talking to them?
I have! Many are just embarrassed that Palin is portrayed as a leading woman in politics. (and not that it matters but many are attractive. REALLY attractive).
Because Sarah Palin is embarrassing. Even with all the makeup artists she can buy.
oh, did somebody say Sarah Palin and makeup artists?
I have said this to just about everyone I speak to...the Governor's skin is the most beautiful skin I have ever worked with. Of course, makeup always helps to create an even canvas, but the condition of her skin was flawless. I attribute it to the clean Alaskan air, lots of fresh fish and protein, and a good fitness regime.
Sarah Palin's expensive fakery, which deceives fools:
Also, she got very accustomed to the individual lashes I would put on her every morning....which, unfortunately are not so easy to do yourself! .
ha ha ha ha!!!!!
Strozzi does shoot down the rumors that Palin's lipliner is tattooed on — she says that she used "an automatic L'Oreal pencil in Nudes, which we covered the lip with and then put a gloss over it." But, if you're a woman whose ever worn lip liner with a shiny gloss, I'll bet you already knew that rumor was false, didn't you? Lip liners always outlast anything else you put on your lips. .
Ann Althouse:
Frankly, Sarah's makeup and hair look homestyle to me. I think if she had a great stylist, her makeup and hair would be much better. .
Thanks for the laughs! Remember, all good conservatives know UP IS DOWN!
Here's another but older post where someone tried to see what the Real Sarah Palin looks like.
Yeah, she's one of the folks. Ri-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght.
Eh. I don't care for Palin, but she still looks pretty good even "unglammed."
Alpha Liberal<------what a maroon.
Do you even think about what you are saying before you post?
Oh MY GOD. Palin uses make up. She gets her hair done. She must be the only woman in politics who does this. She is probably the only woman in the world who attempts to look better by using disgusting make up tricks. I bet she even wears a bra .....wow.
Are you really this stupid?
Many are just embarrassed that Palin is portrayed as a leading woman in politics. (and not that it matters but many are attractive. REALLY attractive).
Really? You are quoting from a bunch of 'liberal' women who are supposedly embarrassed about Palin and that is supposed to prove something? REALLY?
Who gives a flying f*ck if they are embarrassed. They wouldn't like Palin if she were gold plated and farted diamonds. There is nothing that she can do to be accepted by these losers. I'm embarrassed by them. Bunch of tight assed wanna be queen bee nasty prune faced high school girls.
AlphaLiberal:
What world are you in? Who cares how much was spent during the campaign on makeup & whatnot? It's a freakin' national campaign! Or even what she spends now? She's on the freakin' national stage now!
The point I made earlier was before she was named McCain's running mate. Her trademark look was already established. It's obvious she takes care of herself.
It's like someone said earlier, Sarah Palin's name is "squirrel!" to the libs.
Bunch of tight assed wanna be queen bee nasty prune faced high school girls.
You tell 'em DBQ.
Epic fail for your side Alpha Libeler
Calling your website "koolass" and pissing off around 50% of your potential clients by posting an epic fail expose of the naturally beautiful Sarah Palin, while boasting an Ann Bishop-meets-Betty Page look yourself...well, it's classic Lefty Awesomeness!
Definitely still better looking than Hillary and, unlike Michelle O, she's smiling. Does Michelle ever smile a happy smile?
If the point of these was to show that Palin is gorgeous and better looking than the vast majority of women without makeup on, success!
Also, I suppose this is news to some, most regular women wear makeup. I know, shocking! Makeup is not an exclusive trapping of the elite.
Normally I'm loathe to assign jealousy as a motive for attacks on politicians, but in this case I'll make an exception. Jealousy is the most likely motive I can think of for one woman to remove the makeup from another woman's pictures and post them online.
BREAKING NEWS: Women on camera always wear makeup! And this just in: Even women who are never on camera usually wear makeup!
Story at eleven.
Um, Alpha was specifically responding to althouse's supposition that Palin does her own makeup. It seems clear that -- at least at one point -- she did not.
Alpha, where do you live? Fake lashes are exotic there? Even lip liner and lip gloss? Really?
Brian:
What world are you in? Who cares how much was spent during the campaign on makeup & whatnot? It's a freakin' national campaign! Or even what she spends now? She's on the freakin' national stage now! .
We call it the "real world." Come on by and try it sometime.
Check the file. The story was big news in the USA and abroad. her false folksy image ran smack dab into the reality that 100s of thousands of donor dollars were spent on cultivating an image.
Dust Bunny Queen with the shrieking:
Oh MY GOD. Palin uses make up. .
Not my point, more like your strawman (or straw woman if that's your thing).
My point is that Sarah Palin's makeup is a part of her carefully constructed -- and false -- facade.
Again with my plainly stated point.....
Alpha, so if a person wears makeup, that person is fake?
That's more than a little silly.
I still can't get over the obsession Palin haters have with her. As Ann said, imagine "the little dweeb leaning over a computer screen, working on photographs of Sarah Palin..." Imagine the hours, it's damn good Photoshop work. For what? to satisfy and obsession? As any psychologist or OCD sufferer can tell you, obsessions are never satisfied.
Alpha has Palin posters and magazine pictures taped up all over his basement bedroom at his mom's house.
And boy is his arm getting tired.
I am, by the way, writing this a someone who rarely ever wears makeup. There is absolutely nothing wrong with an adult woman wearing makeup. And not wearing makeup to public appearances would be, in my opinion, very unprofessional.
Almost as weird as staring at Flickr photos on the WH site, and wondering what it all means.
Yes, Madison Man, we know. Alpha really blew the lid off Makeupgate or something.
More shrillness from DBQ:
Really? You are quoting from a bunch of 'liberal' women who are supposedly embarrassed about Palin and that is supposed to prove something? REALLY? .
I was responding to a post from Bruce Hayden where he said:
So, you have a bunch of women who probably weren't the hottest girls around when they were in high school and college, who tried to make it on their education and hard work. And even after being soundly trounced in the election, quitting her job as governor, she is still on TV and listened to by much of America. .
I don't think he has based this on any real world experience talking with liberal women feminists who dislike Sarah Palin intensely. I have!
You guys sure do howl and whine when your Diva is criticized.
I happened to notice, AL, that you skipped right over answering my challenge to your BS about her being "rich" and not one of the "normal" folk.
As to your liberal fem friends, yeah, I had a lot of those too, having been in the music/radio industry for years. The interesting thing about those feminist types, though, has nothing to do with a woman's right to make choices in her life. It has everything to do with toeing the line and group-think. True choice, such as being a wife/mother/business owner/politician/whatever isn't part of their lexicon. Interestingly enough, the same bullshit is on display visa vi racial topics and from the same quarters.
George Mahal nails it:
Almost as weird as staring at Flickr photos on the WH site, and wondering what it all means. .
Right! isn't that funny how much photos tell us when they are of Obama?
But photos of Sarah Palin and her massively expensive fakery? Doesn't mean a thing!! ha ha!
In October, 2008, Palin's makeup artist was the highest paid person on the McCain-Palin campaign.
Says a lot! Discuss!!
Yes, let's all PS Obama photos to see what he'd look like without all that fancy gym time. Let's make him look fat and out of shape. Give him a gut and man breasts. His gym body is pure elitist fakery.
That would be outrageously stupid. Also the equivalent of this makeup business.
Um, Alpha was specifically responding to althouse's supposition that Palin does her own makeup. It seems clear that -- at least at one point -- she did not.
Um...and it is also quite clear that at one time Palin put on her own makeup. I doubt she had a make up artist when she was Mayor of Wasilla and probably not even when she was Governor.
I would hazard a guess that on a regular day (when not going out on stage in front of a big crowd of people), when she gets out of bed, Palin probably at some point puts on her own make up and brushes her own hair. Just like any normal person.
Do you guys have an actual point to make?
AND....here is a clue for you clueless people. I was a performing artist, many moons agoe and this is what I know about make up. When you are on stage, in front of a large crowd of people who will be viewing you at a distance, your make up is wildly exagerated. You wear much more lipstick so people 50 feet away can see your lips. Same thing with eye make up: much more than you would ever put on in a normal face to face environment. Blush...lots to give color to your face and enhance your cheeks.
If you do NOT put on gobs of make up, you look washed out in the stage lights and from a distance you have no features. You look tired, pale and puny.
Scott M, in a post I missed:
Apparently AlphaLiberal is against social mobility. I know, it's horrible to think that a peasant can pull themselves up by the bootstraps and own their own businesses in this country, then go on to win high elected office. .
Not at all! And not at all what I said!
I am against shams, grifters and tricksters pretending to be something they are not and deceiving people all in the cause of being destructive to our nation's prospects.
Not to mention hostile and nasty people like Palin being defended against fair and artistic criticism!
And that's Sarah Palin! the Grifter from Wasila.
Thanks for the laughs. It's been grand.
That would be outrageously stupid. Also the equivalent of this makeup business.
That very thing is done on this site, and frontpaged.
Sleep easy, then, AL. Your ability to rationalize after the fact is boundless. Gratz on that.
Garage, link it then. I've never seen anyone photoshop Obama to look out of shape and then claim that his actual look is therefore fake. If you have seen this, link it here.
DBQ dances around the point:
Do you guys have an actual point to make? .
Yes, I've made them several times.
1) It's fair game for this artist to portray the real Sarah Palin behind the facade.
2) Palin's backers talk about her looks frequently. THEY make her looks fair game.
3) You're a bunch of whiners! You guys dish it out all the time but this mildest of criticisms set you off in paroxysms of whimpery.
4) Palin is a sham and a fraud. She is not a regular person or one of the folks. It's all part of a cultivated image.
Kudos to the artist!
In October, 2008, Palin's makeup artist was the highest paid person on the McCain-Palin campaign.
Says a lot! Discuss!!
McCain is a cheap screw?
If he had paid his staff more he might have won?
Scott M:
Your ability to rationalize after the fact is boundless. .
WTF? I never said one word about social mobility. I said she's pretending to be what she is not.
Grifters do that.
Freeman
The WH Flickr photos are an endless source for fodder here, and I know several were photoshopped by Chip and/or Palladian. No big deal.
In October, 2008, Palin's makeup artist was the highest paid person on the McCain-Palin campaign.
Says a lot! Discuss!!
McCain is a cheap screw?
If he had paid his staff more he might have won?
Alpha said...
I said she's pretending to be what she is not.
Because she wears makeup? That is beyond foolish. Or do you mean because she had a makeup artist? She was the GOP VP candidate! What brand of idiot wouldn't hire a makeup artist for someone at that level?
You are beclowning yourself with this.
Sara Palin could learn ten languages, write a prize winning novel, translate from the ancient Greek, compose a symphony and earn a PhD in chemistry and would still be hated and reviled as stupid. Sarah Palin is a happy person and has a child that lefties would have aborted. There is nothing more infuriating than a happy person unless it is someone who is happy with a child that won't go to Harvard. There is no other explanation for the over the top hatred of SP by lefties, both male and female. The females hate her the most and the insipid smugness of their hatred links them in their assurance of their own intellectual superiority. I expect there is a subliminal understanding that her life experiences, work and family, render her imminently more presidential than the current resident of the White House.
Hey, does anyone else remember that presidential debate in 2000 (I think it was the 2nd one) when Al Gore's make-up artist went a little too wild with the blush? It was late night fodder for weeks on end.
Garage, yes, but not this way. As I wrote earlier, the equivalent would be to photoshop Obama to look fat and then say that that was reality and that his real body was some kind of elitist fake.
Alpha, like many middle-class brides, I had my make-up professionally done for my wedding. (And I've had it professionally done on several other occassions, none of which involved national television coverage.)
Won't my husband be amused to find out that his bride was a sham and a fraud!
-Lyssa
Still beautiful. She looks a bit like Camille Paglia whom I've always thought was incredibly sexy. Hmm, come to think of it, I've never seen the two of them together. Palin... Paglia... You don't suppose... heh, wouldn't that be something!
Alpha Liberal:
"1) It's fair game for this artist to portray the real Sarah Palin behind the facade."
Hmmm. Well, okay, but the point that both you and the artist miss is that the "real" Sarah Palin looks fine.
"2) Palin's backers talk about her looks frequently. THEY make her looks fair game."
Again, okay, I guess, but all you seem to have to say about her looks is that she uses make-up artists and is therefore fake, or something.
It's just not a particularly compelling position.
"3) You're a bunch of whiners! You guys dish it out all the time but this mildest of criticisms set you off in paroxysms of whimpery."
This seems awfully general. Do you mean that since "we guys" criticize, then all criticisms have merit?
Otherwise, what are you talking about? What, exactly, do we dish out all the time?
"4) Palin is a sham and a fraud. She is not a regular person or one of the folks. It's all part of a cultivated image. "
So she's a politician who has cultivated an image? Okay. Don't all politicians put some effort into managing how they present themselves? Are they all shams and frauds for doing so?
Yeah, I still don't get the significance of any of your points. They don't add up to anything.
Don't you see that?
Palin's looks are a part of the appeal which her detractors talk about frequently.
There. Corrected.
Freeman
Mmm, ok. I seem to recall some teleprompter photoshops though....
As I've asked before: How does the party of pretty boy candidates have the gall to belittle female beauty? John Kerry - pretty boy. John Edwards - pretty boy. Barack Obama - pretty boy. Joe Biden - pretty old boy.
Alpha Liberal:
"It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham."
I think he's gone bananas.
Get it?
lyssalovelyredhead:
"Won't my husband be amused to find out that his bride was a sham and a fraud!"
He'll probably find it hawt!
Also, what is a photoshop like this arguing for? That female pols shouldn't be able to use makeup or makeup artists? That, image being as important as it is in American politics, elections should be solely the province of the young and outrageously beautiful, no one requiring any aid of appearance need apply?
Remember this John Edwards video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJpNSJSab04
"I am against shams, grifters and tricksters pretending to be something they are not and deceiving people all in the cause of being destructive to our nation's prospects."
Oh, that's beautiful from a supporter of Obama/Biden.
In fact, the idea that women cannot wear makeup to be taken seriously is, I think, plainly sexist. The overwhelming majority of women in the United States wear makeup. Makeup wearing is a female norm. Are people seriously going to argue that all the makeup wearers are a bunch of "shams, grifters and tricksters"?
This anti-makeup position seems like a cudgel for baseless woman-bashing.
Sarah Palin is a happy person and has a child that lefties would have aborted.
The drop in the number of live births of Down Syndrome babies has not happened only because lefties have aborted.
Hey garage is not against make-up!
You should see those photos he posted on facebook from that KISS concert in 1978!
Ah, once again leftists show how utterly superficial, callous, and how truly shallow they are. What this individual(s) did was attempt at thinking that by removing the pretty from Palin, that you will somehow see the not-so-pretty underneath. While this fool doesn't realize that she is a beautiful woman and a strong woman regardless of whether or not she wears make-up. This will have the complete opposite of its intent. The backlash will be unexpected. Way to go tool, you've given even more attention to the person you don't want to give any attention to. Dumbass.
I see that some of the pictures also removed the highlights in her hair. Why? Here highlights are as common as purses. Pretty much anyone who wants highlights, rich or poor, has them.
Or perhaps the people doing the photoshopping are living so luxuriously that they've never been in the grocery store and noticed all of the home highlighting kits.
Who knew Arkansas was so very glamorous and exotic? We are lucky to be on some special trade route that brings us such highfalutin fineries as makeup and haircolor.
And I think it was wrong when Time magazine darkened Obama's picture so he would look like OJ Simpson ....what...oh nevermind.
Can somebody do a photoshop on Hillary and make her more glamorous?
I think it would be fun to see Hillary or Palin with different hairstyles! That's also fun with male politicians.
This picture is stupid though and it really only looks bad because they made her lips the color of death.
Feminism is clearly an arbitrary thing.
Situational feminism.
I think it was the best decision of her life, but there was no way to make it without facing the cost of being called a quitter.
I think it was an excellent decision if she has no further ambitions to hold political office nationwide, or maybe if she wanted to resign in order to run for Senator …I think it was a terrible idea if she is set on the Presidency (which I’m not convinced she is).
Speaking of, Palin is in my neck of the woods tonight giving a speech at a big auditorium for cash. If her goal is to get rich, I think she’s doing an excellent job!
A lot of excited folks here.
Let me try to frame it another way: It is not news that women wear makeup or that Palin has to spend money to care about her appearance as all politicians do.
I think what gets some on the left worked up is that Sarah Palin's schtick is populism. So the more she is exposed as having "elite" habits--lots of $ on make up and clothes--they want to cry hypocrisy.
Also, the response that "all politicians do it" undermines her claim of being different and not like all other politicians.
I don't care for Palin, but give her a break; I don't think use of make up or spending big bucks on clothing makes her a hypocrite. She's spending her own money and not in office now anyway.
Attacks on her make her stronger and feed into her narrative.
Those on the left will have to give a lot more thought about how to expose her. Shrieking, even things that are true, is not going to help--because you're shrieking!
Sorry, she's not really that pretty.
As a child Palin was raised in a Denomination that once had a tradition of being against women wearing make-up. The good news is that she thinks for herself and doesn't let any semi-cult religious tradition think for her. Besides, with John Edwards sidelined the economy will take a hit unless Sarah gives the unemployed make-up people a job. What a big heart she has.
AlphaLiberal and garage mahal, grow a pair. Post your photos on your profiles. Seriously, if you're going to rip other people on their looks, show everyone what you look like. You both won't because you're pussies.
I would not be that harsh on the artist. My bet would be that for promotion the artist wanted a share of attention that Palin gets. Although, she probably would get more attention if she presented Palin as a drag queen, or something similar.
As it is the artist made a pretty good job at presenting Palin au naturel, and a very professional one. Here is Palin's original picture without make up http://www.popcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/sarah-palin-fish.jpg to compare with.
Actually the altered images show that Palin is a beautiful women without make up, and in some cases make up does not exactly flatter her, IMO.
John Edwards was everything the left accuses Sarah Palin of being and far, far worse. They fell for him hook, line, and sinker. Their delicately attuned bullshit detectors so sensitive to the sham vibes of Palin failed them completely with Edwards. The ability to see through Palin is inversely proportional to the wish to be charmed by Edwards....I think Gore, Obama, Bayh, Rendell and many others are decent people who live honorable lives. I don't see why the left cannot extend the same courtesy to Palin.
John Edwards was everything the left accuses Sarah Palin of being and far, far worse. They fell for him hook, line, and sinker. Their delicately attuned bullshit detectors so sensitive to the sham vibes of Palin failed them completely with Edwards.
Brilliant point. Really. He's every bit the shallow, narcissistic, empty suit they accuse her of being.
Tmink,
Yes, you're absolutely correct--but what is the source of your confusion? Trying to make Palin look worse was exactly what this exercise was all about.
And really, you lefties--do you think all these pre-VP-nomination photos are retouched? Sorry, she's just good-looking, nothing you can do about that.
Well, this Kellyanne Hanrahan cat certainly doesn't like Sarah Palin.
http://www.koolass.com/july2009.html (Or follow this link.)
But, at the same time, she admires Condoleeza Rice.
http://www.koolass.com/condy.html (Or follow this link.
Even given that Hanrahan obviously doesn't like Palin, I'm not sure that the images are intended entirely to defame her. As a lot of people have pointed out so far, the altered images aren't really all that unflattering. (I was expecting something much, much worse after reading Althouse's post.)
If anything, the set of images makes me wonder how Sarah Palin might have been received had she adopted a less glamorous and more "serious" look. Would centrists and moderates have warmed up to her in ways that they have not so far? Would conservative males have gone gaga over her if she hadn't come onto the scene looking like she'd just walked out of a sexy librarian fantasy?
I mean, it's not like comparisons like this (http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/republican-vs-democratic-women.jpg -- link haven't been floating around for a while.
I don't understand what the point of making her look like a Democrat is.
;)
Funny. What I find makes Sarah Palin attractive has far less to do with her looks than Photoshopperson would expect. (Even with his/her treatment, she's still pretty.)
That photoshopper is talented. Maybe in the spirit of fairness, he will give Hillary sexy glasses and sexy hair. Then where will we be?
Wow. Looks to me like they're trying to make her look like a feminist lesbian*. Project much?
*yet, even thus defaced, she looks hotter than 99% of them.
PS: Obama deglamorized
I wish I looked that good without makeup, and I'm 28. Girlfriend has gorgeous bone structure.
Sarah Palin is a lovely, feminine woman and a dynamic LEADER. No matter what these dweebs do it will not change that.
(bad word) (bad word) (bad word)
DO NOT MESS WITH OUR VERY LOVELY SARAH PALIN!
Next they'll do a photoshop of Biden without hair. Oh, wait....
I just looked at the photoshopped pictures. Good job by whoever did it. But she is just gorgeous and natural and one of the reasons we love Sarah is she is one of us, with or without makeup.
It doesn't matter. Go Sarah!
Hm. I thought she looked considerably cuter in several of those pics with the shorter hair and less makeup - more real.
I DID notice that the Photoshopper felt it necessary to remove her Flag pins (both US and Blue-Star-Mom) and "Alaska" pin from her outfits.
Says a lot about the Photoshopper, now doesn't it?
Orion
and one more thing:
Sarah Palin is Much More Beautiful now than she ever was when she was a beauty queen
Oh, and of COURSE Liberal photoshoppers need to try to make Conservative women look more...liberal.
Found these two images that seem to do a good job of side-by-side comparison...
Conservative Women
Liberal Women
I guess he did all he could.

I like Trig's mom.
Seems feminists are jealous, girly men are threatened.
As a matter of fact, I read an article a while back, a male columnist actually couldn't stand the "sexual tension". Pity them.
But...she's still extremely attractive. And any man with eyes in his head would say the same, I think. If this was supposed to make her look bad, it's a massive fail.
Of course Sarah Palin is pretending to be what she's not.
She's pretending that she's not a wonder-bread snow-billy state-university social-climber red-neck rube biker-babe (Alaska style).
And that makes Alpha mad.
People should stay in their place.
Yeah, I think she is quite attractive either way. But then, I LIKE women.
Incidentally... Sarah Palin looked significantly better, her hair, her make up, and of course her clothes, during the campaign. She's gone back to looking pretty close to what she did before, hair and make-up wise.
BTW, in the "picture with a fish" that was the subject of one of the dastardly ethics complaints, she is without make up, wind blown, and wearing rubber waders up to her chin.
No photo-shopping was necessary to see what Sarah Palin looks like when she's not made-up.
kamikesc: Yet misogynist conservatives avoid doing that with the likes of Mikulski...

Glad you mention Mikulski, see how those "misogynist conservatives" actually treated her.

I'd do her.
Mrs. Palin is one fine looking woman. They can not diminish her attractiveness this way. So this person thought they were making her less attractive? What were they smoking? She has nothing to be ashamed of. What the photo-shopper has done is insulted a bunch of normal looking women. This provides insight to what the left thinks of ordinary people.
Now, Hilary and Nancy, they need photo shop to make them better looking. As they used to say on Hee-Haw "Beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone." They need digital enhancing. Had someone done this to Mrs. Obama, or the President, it would have been racist.
