But not for long. We're about to pack up and fly back to winter.

In any case, Ann, you will probably be flying back into a bit of a thaw (does anything thaw before June in WI?), if the NE OH forecast for the next 10 days means anything to your neck of the North Woods - sunny starting today and temps here above freezing.

It looks like you had fun down there and I hope you enjoyed your first married birthday in a while.

Anonymous said...: As always, the Alt-photos are excellent - but I think you have to be in love... to love Austin. The colors are engaging, but behind the signage the town looks like dried mud. When the camera searches for interest, it's on the side of a building or inside a restaurant.

Ann, before you leave, maybe you can capture a picture of children playing, signs of life beating in Austin, some indication the town is more than its muddy, commercial parts.; 1/13/10, 3:18 PM

Trust me, there's life out there. I could post pictures of kids playing (I won't, because I value my nephews' privacy), but there's a lot going on. Even the 'burbs have cacti in the medians, bike paths, and so on. It's not like most places.
