Well, I just posted this on the last open thread, but suspected it was dead...
Althouse, not sure if you were planning to blog about this, but if you do, I'd like you to consider this thought:
What is odder? That someone went and astroturfed a letter to the editor all over the place, or that various newspapers are so heterogeneous in their way of thinking that so many decided that, of all the letters they get, this one deserved printing?
I used to live right down the road from these guys and I remember when they first started up. I see from their website that they're still pretty green around the pils (i.e., still stuck on ale).
They probably encourage their "most happy" employees to vote Obama, but one thing that both right and left can surely agree on is that beer is good.
Nice posts all day long Professor. I was reading them, but not able to comment. Let me say very objectively, that you are making more in depth analysis here this weekend than the rest of the Blogosphere put together. You shot a possible today.
I mostly quit drinking in 2006 for health reasons, but a tall glass of beer is just irresistible. I was never a big beer drinker but it is so photogenic, I get a thrill up my leg.

I don't know which is worse--the big beer or the big glass of vodka on the rocks.
In DC I had a yard-long beer--similar but much longer contraption. There's a pic of me somewhere drinking it.
That looks like fun. Know what would go good with that? Schnitzel und spätzle, you say? Yes. But also a Caesar's salad, that's what.

I find it remarkable and bordering on suspicious.
No, I take that back. I find it suspicious.

Cheers!
Come on, a half-yard. That's weak!
Remember, bottoms up!

I don't see it as that suspicious. The letter was well written, and most papers probably get very few well written letters.
I am certain that newspapers consider letters of that ilk to be well-written, beyond what they normally receive.
That's basically my point.
Seriously, what's so great about stability? Especially mental stability?
