Looks like he has fetal alcohol syndrome, which would mean his mother was an alcoholic, which would explain why he throws objects at forceful, appealing women whom he doesn't even know. Sort of an Andrew Sullivan syndrome--obsessed with hating a stranger as a stand-in for his feelings about his own mother.
Has there ever been an attack on a liberal celebrity by a conservative audience member? Just curious. It seems like it's always libs attacking conservatives.
Back during the election, when so many people were predicting an assassination attempt against Obama, I told my husband that, if anything, Sarah Palin was in far greater danger of a successful assassination attempt. I stand by that view, and continue to be concerned for her safety.
At least he did't throw a shoe. He stuck to the American tradition of rotten tomatoes. He may discover, as John Wilkes Booth discovered, that Sarah has such a deep love from many citizens that he will not be cheered but will be destroyed for his act.
No doubt Ann Althouse will join in the smearing of ACORN and completely ignore the report that the video of ACORN workers and the con's posing as pimps was heavily edited:
The videos that have been released appear to have been edited, in some cases substantially, including the insertion of a substitute voiceover for significant portions of Mr. O'Keefe's and Ms. Giles's comments, which makes it difficult to determine the questions to which ACORN employees are responding. A comparison of the publicly available transcripts to the released videos confirms that large portions of the original video have been omitted from the released versions. .
The freaking liars of the right wing. I hope these people are sued into deep poverty.
AJ: Alpha, you are even angrier now when we have a liberal Dem in the White House. Does anything make you happy? .
It would make me very happy to see the people who recorded and dishonestly edited that video of the ACORN workers sued into poverty for the rest of their lives, as well as their patrons.
The right wing has abandoned all pretense of civility, lying pathologically.
I generally post here not when I am in good spirits, which is often, but when I am angry at the mendacious conservatives that poison our discourse.
The crux of the Pro-Palin and the Anti-Palin positions is the divide between the traditional American willingness to fight for one another against destructive forces , and a European derived Real-politic that values a plan to get the most of the spoil after the others are annihilated. Sullivan, Hitchens, and many other commentators from a European viewpoint will never believe that any one but a fool could act like a Sarah Palin and fight for her neighbors, instead of for her own social class group, as Americans learned to do on the frontier... and like Sarah Palin did in Alaska, the last frontier.
"In Hitch's piece it's revealed that one of Palin's current advisers is an anti-Semite by the name of Fred Malek."
Outrage over anti-semitism from the same people who engage in disinvestment campaigns against Israel. The left is rank with anti-semetism. Hello pot this is the kettle calling.
As far as this guy throwing a tomato, this is who liberals are. This is what they do. They have been doing this for years on college campuses. They throw things. They shout down and scream racist at anyone who disagrees with them. This guy is a typical liberal. He is everything they have been since the late 60s.
That was in response to Sarah Palin encouraging her fans to buy into the birther conspiracy theory, and encouraging her fans to disbelieve President Obama is an American.
In Hitch's piece it's revealed that one of Palin's current advisers is an anti-Semite by the name of Fred Malek. Malek is "the man who drew up a list of Jews to be fired from the civil service under the Nixon administration."
Why is Palin palling around with filthy racists? (Is it true the ghost writer of her book once co-authored a book with a white supremacist, as I have seen alleged in both the blogosphere and on Meet the Press?)
Hitch continues about Sarah Palin's racist pal and adviser, Fred Malek:
It beats me why such a disgusting character is still received in polite circles, except that now at least he's back doing the sort of task to which he is best-suited. He has found an unscrupulous and uncultured political neophyte who will happily act as a megaphone for any kind of libel and insinuation—Obama's "palling around with terrorists" was, I suppose, the money shot of the last campaign—and then later revise and extend her remarks. Nasty work if you can get it. Malek, now so near old age, must be pinching himself at his good fortune.
At least Richard Nixon had the ill fortune to look like what he was: a haunted scoundrel and repressed psychopath. Whereas the usefulness of Sarah Palin to the right-wing party managers is that she combines a certain knowingness with a feigned innocence and a still-palpable blush of sex. But she should take care to read her Alexander Pope: That bloom will soon enough fade, and it will fade really quickly if she uses it to prostitute herself to the Nixonites on one day and then to cock-tease the rabble on the next.
I guess it's not hard to understand someone fantasizing about pelting her with rotten tomatoes. I don't - I'm too busy laughing at Palin. But Palin is a nasty extremist, and that'll get her strong reactions of all sorts.
But, of course, actually trying to do so is criminal and wrong. And trying to do so, missing, and hitting a cop, is pathetic.
Nice of Althouse to help make sure it will follow Jeremy Olson around the rest of his life, whenever anyone Googles his name. lol And good luck to Jeremy Olson on finding employment in the 17% unemployment Obama economy with these criminal charges on his record.
Oaf, Palins favorables are up to 46%. They are only one point below the OBamasiah. Pretty good for an extremist or is she an idiot who doesn't think anything? Keep laughing when you are not screaming and throwing shit like an angry monkey because that is what liberals do.
No doubt Ann Althouse will join in the smearing of ACORN and completely ignore the report that the video of ACORN workers and the con's posing as pimps was heavily edited
ACORN found itself innocent? Quel surprise!
Really, there is no lie conservatives will not tell.
Behold the stupidity of the right wing
I am angry at the mendacious conservatives that poison our discourse.
You really are just a walking definition of irony, aren't you? And I really find it difficult to believe you're in good spirits that often. You troll here too much for that to be likely.

Sarah Palin quit her governorship. I'd say it's easier to improve your poll ratings when you do not have any actual government leadership responsibilities and are in the middle of a book tour where a whole media team is working hard to hype you in order to sell a product.
Do you always use polls to "prove" you're right about something or someone? The last poll that was of any real significance on Obama was on election day 2008, when most Americans voted for him.
BTW, Ronald Reagan's poll ratings went down in his first year as well. Reagan, like Obama, was handed quite a mess from a previous administration.
I bet this will get an InstaPundit link. But did anyone notice that InstaPundit did not link to Althouse's post abut Palin peddling the birther rubbish? In fact, InstaPundit did not even post a single comment on that. I thought his blog liked to put its 2 cents in on everything in the news about Palin, but no, InstaPundit was brushing that one under the rug like a typical propaganda site.
Levi Johnston was on the Joy Behar show last night. He re-iterated many of his previous claims about Sarah Palin. Like, how she is not really there for her kids, and how she jokingly referred to Trig as a "retard" in private.
He says much of the image she hyped about herself is a bunch of lies. He also met with Andrew Sullivan in the green room and they had an off-the-record chat that Sullivan describes as "fascinating". Now that Andrew Sullivan and Levi Johnston are friendly acquaintances, it will be interesting to see what Levi reveals to Andrew down the line and on the record.
ut did anyone notice that InstaPundit did not link to Althouse's post abut Palin peddling the birther rubbish? In fact, InstaPundit did not even post a single comment on that.
Kind of like when Instapundit stopped giving hourly updates on the falling stock market. Look at this rubes! Now you couldn't pay him to link to any stock market trends.
Is this the Fred Malek who is being talked about? Because if so, calling him "anti-Semitic" on the basis of the following...
In 1971, Richard Nixon became convinced the Bureau of Labor Statistics had come under the control of Democratic rivals and what Nixon termed a "Jewish cabal." He instructed aides Charles Colson and H. R. Haldeman to identify a list of Democrats and "important Jewish officials" at the agency.[5]
Malek provided the data on Democrats after a check of voter registration rolls, but balked at fulfilling the rest of Nixon's query. "I refused four times. The fifth time he came back and gave me a direct order through Haldeman, so I gave him a number. I regret my compliance. It was a mistake."[6] Two months after he sent the list, two of the officials on it were reassigned to "less visible jobs" within the Labor Dept.[7] Slate columnist Timothy Noah, however, asserts that a September 8, 1971 memo from Malek to Haldeman appears to contradict Malek's assertions of limited involvement, in which Malek states he has recommended to the Secretary of Labor "fairly drastic moves" including the "compromise" reassignment of three officials.[5]
Seymour D. Reich, chairman of Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations during the 1990s, said "Malek made a mistake 18 years ago when he agreed to a regrettable request by President Nixon." But he added, Malek "has taken pains to assure the Jewish community that he realizes his error and that he intended no harm. I believe he is sincere."[8]
...seems rather a stretch. If anything, the anti-Semitism all seems to be on Nixon's part, not Malek's, and in fact he protested against the order and was sorry he cooperated at all. But I'm sure our leftist knowitalls know better what is "anti-Semitism" and what isn't. I mean, if you can't believe a scurrilous nun-hating drunkard like Hitchens, who can you believe?
Look how unconcerned you all are that Sarah Palin pals around with anti-Semites like Fred Malek.
BTW, Sarah's husband was a member of a secessionist party in Alaska. But she likes to imply that Barack Obama is not a real American, and may not even be an American citizen at all! (Last week Sarah Palin publicly encouraged people to buy into the birther conspiracy theories about President Obama.)
The intellectual dishonesty of your post about ACORN is stunning. You know better, but you pretend that you are being truthful. Presenting ACORN's own explanations as though they are distineterested facts?
C'mon. Try to be an alpha something other than an AlphaFool.
I'm wondering if Loafing Oaf is my ex-boyfriend. He likes all the same movies my ex did (well, I don't know about Barry Lyndon and The Elephant Man -- but Dawn of the Dead certainly rarely left his dvd player! And he was sure that The Big Lebowski was deep poetry, man.) And my ex was born in Ohio, though when I knew him he lived in Florida. Anyway, LO's posts are about my bf's (Masters in English, was proffing at some small tech college when I last was in contact with him) idea of clever "meta" snark. Don, is that you?
Internet profiles. Do they reveal more than they conceal, or vice-versa?
wv: fooket -- what I think now when I think of my ex.
Amen. The hate filled rantings of Andrew Sullivan, Daily Kos, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olberman and others encourage this sort of behavior. Shame on them.
Levi Johnston was on the Joy Behar show last night. He re-iterated many of his previous claims about Sarah Palin. Like, how she is not really there for her kids, and how she jokingly referred to Trig as a "retard" in private.
So is Levi telling Andrew that he really IS the father of Trig? That he really ISN'T the father of Tripp? What could Levi possibly say that isn't self-serving? I'm supposed to discount Sarah Palin's book as totally self-serving fluff, but Levi is a fount of knowledge?
By this standard, the cocktail waitress in Las Vegas knows the "real" Tiger Woods.
I don't know if Sarah would be a good president; first she would have to survive the Republican primary. Her personal life has been way too distracting from anything meaningful she would have to say. And I don't discount the criticism of associating with these controversial characters you bring up.
But then, I should believe that Obama can lead this country well despite all the questionable characters he's palled around with, from Jeremiah Wright to Van Jones to Anita Dunn. I guess I'll worry about Sarah's ghost writer when she's questioned about it and says she wants him to be White House Communications Director.
The part that gets me is that, according to reports, he may (not will) be charged. The Lefties have been pulling this stuff as far back as the machinations to Alinskyize Anita Bryant. Unless I'm mistaken (Ann would know), it's still assault and some of these clowns ought to go to jail for a nice, long time. Needless to say, just because it's a tomato (or cream pie) on the outside, doesn't mean it can't have something more lethal on the inside.

Also, following up, I need to get my playbook correct. I thought Sarah Palin was a Christianist, creationist, anti-science bimbo evangelical who would steer our country solidly into the pro-Israel camp because she believes in the second Coming of Christ and Israel must be defended always.
Now you're saying she's an anti-Semite who, through guilt by association, would ruthlessly root out Jews from public service.

Yes, hi, Andrea. You seemed familiar to me, as well. Small world, ain't it? I hope you got over me dumping you. I had a theory that right-wing girls would be freaks in bed, but you just didn't do it for me. And your taste in movies sucked.
I should update my movies. So many I left out, and one or two (like Le Samourai) that probably should be cut.
And, now that The Big Lebowski is being shown at midnight at art theaters as a cult classic (as I predicted it would), and now that there are Big Lebowski parties at bowling alleys across the land, I should choose a more neglected Coen movie for my list. Since I love them all but didn't think I should list them all. The Hudsucker Proxy is a good movie for the holiday season. :)
The Elephant Man is my fave movie of all. It would touch even someone as heartless as you.
Or, perhaps you're not so heartless. You still think about me all the time!
And me? I've been watching "chick flicks" all week, and found myself tearing up and thinking of you during One Fine Day (the Michelle Pfeiffer, George Clooney romantic comedy). They sure got on each other's nerves before they fell in love. Should we give it another try?
Brian, Andrew Sullivan discussed his questions about Sarah Palin's odd pregnancy stories on the Joy Behar program last night and he didn't sound crazy the way the right-wing blogosphere has been trying to paint him.
The claims of Malek being an anti-semite are a concern to me. So I tried to find some good info on it. It is clear that Malek got Jewish sounding names from the Department of Labor Statistics for Nixon and that Nixon had those people fired or reassigned. I read that Malek protested the assignment and said he regreted complying.
Honestly, I do not think that is enough, he sould have quit.
But then my concern is tempered by reading that Hitch is involved as Hitch is an anti-Christian and Palin is famously or perhaps infamously Christian.
Then there is this quote from HuffPo: "During the embryonic days of Watergate in the early 1970s, Malek served as a special assistant to Nixon in his corrupt bid for re-election, where he palled around with the likes of real terrorists, including H. R. Haldeman, John Erlichman, Charles Colson and E. Howard Hunt."
Right, those jerks were terrorists. So it is impossible for me to get too worked up about these claims because of the people who are making them. They are not trustworthy.
Still, if I were Palin, I would dump him. She is, like most Evangelicals, very pro-Israel and should not hang with someone who participated in what was really a dastardly act.
"Shame on Sarah Palin." Yeah, that was done to death in that thread. Let it go.
"Andrew Sullivan discussed his questions about Sarah Palin's odd pregnancy stories on the Joy Behar program last night and he didn't sound crazy the way the right-wing blogosphere has been trying to paint him."
Why don't you give us a short example of a non-crazy reason to continue to insist she isn't the mother of her youngest child?
Loafing Oaf...All is fair in love and war, so keep accusing Sarah of being a Birther. But you and I both know that she merely refused to say that Birthers have no right to ask questions about Obama's withheld information. Why should she? Unanswered questions are fair game for the Press ( these days The Press means the National Inquiror and Drudge standing alone) and for the opposition. Ask Andrew Sullivan. Because unanswed questions cause fear. A good leader will deal with the fears by answering questions ASAP.
The answer here is yes, there can be less of a man than Jeremy Olson -- a Palin hater who thinks really hard about throwing a tomato at a woman signing books but knows he can't throw so doesn't even try because he can't afford a tomato anyway. One who wouldn't go out to do so because it was too cold outside and his only pair of shoes were tied together in a knot he couldn't undo and whose only pair of short pants are in the hamper and who lost his bus pass that his mother paid for, who wears a dog tag with his address in case he gets lost and whose mittens are connect with a length of yarn that run through the sleeves of his coat so he doesn't lose them. That would be one.
Why Jeremy it is the same reason why people stare at an accident on the highway. But now that you are famous for throwing fruit everyone will be talking about you. Congratulations, you made it to the big time.
Why don't you give us a short example of a non-crazy reason to continue to insist she isn't the mother of her youngest child?
Or, why don't you explain why it's "reasonable" to demand Palin prove she's the mother of Trig and "unreasonable" to demand Obama prove he was born in America. Aren't both groups "just asking questions?"
It's not an obsession, it's just a familiar communal reference who happens to be a rich target for jokes, like the crazy guy who stands on the street corner yelling at cars.
As I understand it, Palin's co-author is also an anti-semite, because he once co-wrote a book with Stacy Mcain, who is an anti-semite because during his decades long career as a journalist he once interviewed an anti-semite for a story.
....this would be so much easier if the left just declared Kevin Bacon a racist.
@Brian: Good point, wasn't the only flag in her office supposed to be an Israeli one?
How's this for some excellence in journalism? From the link:
"Bloomington Police report that Bloomington Commander Mark Stehlik was struck in the face with one of the tomatoes and may face charges for assaulting a police officer"
I didn't know that getting hit in the face with a tomato was a crime. Or that you could face charges for it if you were unlucky enough to have it happen to you.
But it must be true since the layers of editors and fact checkers obviously gave it the thumbs up.
Or, why don't you explain why it's "reasonable" to demand Palin prove she's the mother of Trig and "unreasonable" to demand Obama prove he was born in America. Aren't both groups "just asking questions?"
Sure. I would think its obvious, but for the slower people, I will give it a shot.
Palin- was pregnant, gave birth. Pretty simple.
Obama- born in America, will not provide birth certificate for unknown reasons.
And since one of the requirements to hold his job is to be born in American, even delusional people have a valid reason for requesting proof.
Why don't you give us a short example of a non-crazy reason to continue to insist she isn't the mother of her youngest child?
If memory serves, and that's because I stopped reading The Atlantic years ago, Sullivan holds the belief that Trig is really the spawn of Palin's teenage daughter? Is Sullivan aware that the rate of down syndrom births for women under 30 years old is something south of less than 1 in 1000 births?
Whatever his feelings of Sarah Palin, that is not exactly the wagon I'd hitch my horse to. Unless of course I wanted to confirm the consensus that I was a complete loon.
How do you translate "I have no idea...I'm not alleging anything...I am simply saying cannot believe the story she has told...would someone please make sense of this story for me...that's all I'm saying" into "insisting she isn't the mother of her youngest child"?
I didn't know that getting hit in the face with a tomato was a crime
Getting hit with something/anything that was "purposely" thrown at you, as opposed to accidentally, can be a processed as a crime.
Tomatoes can be pretty expensive this time of year. Of course if Jeremy really wanted to show off, he could have thrown a Haas Avocado. Those things are really pricey. If he threw tomatoes, avocados, limes and some green onions we could have guacamole.
Off topic question. Why do we make the plural of tomato to be tomatoEs, but avocado doesn't have the extra E?
traditionalguy said... But you and I both know that she merely refused to say that Birthers have no right to ask questions about Obama's withheld information.
Wrong. She said people were rightfully questioning Obama's citizenship, when she knows perfectly well tha Obama's citizenship is proven.
On second thought, Loaf can't be my ex. Because unless he's had a lobotomy, my ex would rather have his nuts chewed off by live weasels than watch things like Joy Behar and "chick flicks." I'll bet Loafing Oaf has the entire collection of Twilight novels and waiting outside for a week in line with the other fat, homely girls (from whom he is indistinguishable in all but the brightest lights) to see the first showing of New Moon. And his Edward Cullen poster is getting all sticky. Ew.
wv: oveling. What fat guys with manboobs in line for Twilight: New Moon do around women.
He's not insisting she isn't the mother of Trig. Here's the YouTube of Andrew Sullivan dicussing Sarah Palin on Joy Behar's program.
Oh Jesus Christ on a crutch!!!!! NOT this same bullshit about her water breaking.
Please just give it a rest. You men are complete morons when it comes to this topic.
There is nothing extra ordinary, weird, monumental, bizarre or anything else about her story.
Like I said before. The "water breaking" isn't Niagara Falls, a tidal wave that is going to swamp everyone around. It can be just a dribble and some very mild pre labor pains that are the equivalent of a slight backache. You can be in pre labor for DAYS.......you morons.
Give it up.
Now I must say 10 Hail Marys and an Our Father for swearing.
How do you translate "I am simply saying cannot believe the story she has told...would someone please make sense of this story for me"
Translation: "The act of giving birth is a "story" - a strange bizarre alien horror story that I, Andrew Sullivan, find darkly fascinating, because I hate and fear women, no moreso than when they act like women."
Water breaking just means it's time for a vacation! Take a trip, hop on an 8 hour flight!
Water breaking for me meant: clean the bathroom and kitchen, and put the final touches on the baby's room.
I didn't go into the hospital until the next day and even then was in mild labor (contractions about every half hour or less) for at least 12 hours before getting down to business.
We were bored and we played cribbage and trivial pursuit for quite a bit of the time. The worst thing was that they wouldn't let me eat and I was HUNGRY!!!!
So taking a plane ride home to near family and your personal physician is not strange at all.
Well, I've gotta admit that water breaking is pretty scary to the average guy. Just another awesome aspect of the female that females are in no particular hurry to demystify. I mean, what's the advantage in being less scary? ;^)
So taking a plane ride home to near family and your personal physician is not strange at all.
MORONS.
You can say it until you're blue in the face but deep down you know it's fucking whacked. Getting on a plane for a 8 hour trip after breaking water not knowing if you would give birth to a special needs baby at 50k feet is not normal.
The average woman, who's a mother for the 1st time, might rush to the hospital at soon as her water breaks, only to be sent home and told to wait for the contractions to get closer together. Which, as DBQ says, can be days later. Of course, once in the hospital, they can induce labor, but they don't like to do that unless there's a reason to do so.
But a mother of four might be experienced enough to know what the contractions should feel like when she's ready to give birth.
I haven't read Sarah's book yet. Anybody know whether or not she had her water break, and she called her doctor, and he said "go to the hospital when the contractions get under 10 minutes apart."
I chuckled at a story (the details of where I heard it escape me now) I told my wife about a dad who was at work, and his wife was in pre-labor at home, and he was asked why wasn't he home with her, and he said "oh, the contractions are still only 10 minutes apart."
Ordinarily I disapprove of ending a post by insulting another commenter. But really, arguing about childbirth with a mother is pretty stupid
Yes. Me too. I try not to be abusive, but this stupid argument and charge that Palin is somehow not telling the truth about the birth of her child because of the sheer ignorance of the posters, just gets my goat.
First of all. The men who are making these statements haven't got a clue about childbirth.
And secondly, all women are different in how they approach things like childbirth in the timing, severity of contractions or the time in labor.
And LASTLY...who knows more about their own body. The woman who is in childbirth and who has given birth more than one time? OR some gay guy who thinks women are some sort of alien race, or doofus men who keep bleating out the same ridiculous statements and making facile judgements about something that they have no knowledge of.
Ya betcha....I'm talking about you, garage.
If you want to argue about or demean Palin, then at least try to be somewhat intelligent and truthful about it.
garage: getting to the hospital that will have your doctor and "team," rather than a facility that has not prepared for you, is not at all odd when you know you are going to have a special needs baby.
Thinking Sarah Palin is odd is one thing - - making the leap to "she must have faked her pregnancy" and obsessing about it for years, is nuts. and - what Dust Bunny said.
garage: getting to the hospital that will have your doctor and "team," rather than a facility that has not prepared for you, is not at all odd when you know you are going to have a special needs baby.
Damn straight and I'm embarassed for garage that he has decided to pile on with these idiots like Sullivan who know jack about childbirth and are dumb enough to try to insist that, against all odds, Trig might not be Palin's baby. Complete and utter nonsense to anyone without an ax to grind.
There is literally nothing Palin has done or will do where you won't still be her biggest Fangirl. She could have taken a 25 hour flight to deliver in a fly infested shack in Haiti and you'd still be defending your BFF.
The real metric by which the likes of Andrew Sullivan and Garage Mahal must be judged (re Palin) is whether they've diminished her appeal at all to anyone beyond their own choirs. That is their only objective regarding Palin. They really don't give a crap about the circumstances of Trigs birth.
Hard to measure, but I'd say they haven't succeeded, and they may have actually garnered her some sympathy.
How do you translate "I have no idea...I'm not alleging anything...I am simply saying cannot believe the story she has told...would someone please make sense of this story for me...that's all I'm saying"
I translate it as "I'm a passive-aggressive coward who's trying to insinuate all this stuff while maintaining deniability."
garage: getting to the hospital that will have your doctor and "team," rather than a facility that has not prepared for you, is not at all odd when you know you are going to have a special needs baby.
Crazy talk. She was in Fort Worth TX, and chose to fly to Anchorage, [8-9 hrs] and drove another 43 miles to Palmer AK to deliver. Flying 9 hours leaking amniotic fluid risking infection on a commercial flight is insane. "Oops, that's my mucous plug in the aisle. Sorry!"
This whole thing is off topic, but let me see if I can get this straight:
Sullivan has long been of the view that Sara Palin is crazy. Ms. Palin took a (to some people's view)crazy risk by flying home after her water broke. So rather than this proving the "she is crazy" thesis, Sullivan instead doubts that Palin was pregnant at all?
Monkeyboy said...
Since you don't even know that Palin's ghost writer is a female, I doubt you looked into the allegations much before deciding, "I'll just go along with whatever the right-wing blogosphere is claiming, as usual".
I did not say I know for a fact that Robert Stacy McCain is a racist. But you ought to be careful who you're vouching for.
For example, McCain allegedly said this:
"As Steffgen predicted, the media now force interracial images into the public mind and a number of perfectly rational people react to these images with an altogether natural revulsion. The white person who does not mind transacting business with a black bank clerk may yet be averse to accepting the clerk as his sisterinlaw, and THIS IS NOT RACISM, no matter what Madison Avenue, Hollywood and Washington tell us."
Another example: Robert Stacy McCain allegedly wrote for a racist web site called American Rennaissance under the pseudonym Burke C. Dabney (a Confederate army chaplain and supporter of slavery). Here's a quote he allegedly wrote: "If crusaders against teenage motherhood were serious, they would concentrate on the black and Hispanic girls who account for more than half of teenage births. Targeting whites as part of a general campaign is yet another form of racial suicide."
If you get to the bottom of stuff like that and decide you can still vouch for Robert Stacy McCain, then fine. But if you ignore it and vouch for McCain just because InstaPundit and other right-wing bloggers link to McCain, you may find out you're vouching for somone before you know what he's really about.
I don't know if McCain is a racist. He seems to be, but I'll await further evidence and for now say that there's enough to be very wary of him.
garage: Moonstruck comes to mind, specifically in the restaurant when Rose (Olympia Dukakis) says to Perry (John Doherty) "what you don't know about women is a lot."
Garage...So Sarah decided to take a scheduled flight North to Alaska for Trig's birth. So what is your point? Does that make her a Mother, which rules out her Presidential qualifications? Sure sounds like a Patriarchial notion from the Mid-East cultures or from the Mormans to me. What about the frontier Mothers that had their baby's on the wagon trains west to California and Rregon Territory? Were they not Presidential enough? You need to see the PBS show on Andrew Jackson and his mother and wife. They were the original no surrender tough men and mothers from 180 years ago (5 generations).
Good God, garage, you are such a moron, even above (or below) and beyond the average troll that infests this website. I'll bet you're still reeling with shock at the revelation (which you found out only a few days ago) that mommies didn't grow babies in a "cabbage patch" but instead in their bellies, and that daddies helped mommies make those babies with their peepees! Well I'm here to tell you something else: Santa Claus doesn't exist! Your parents made him up so you would blame someone else for that bag of pork rinds and the box of used insoles that you'd find under the tree every year.
LoafingOaf, that is interesting what you say about Robert Stacy McCain. It isn't even guilt by association - it's guilt by association with someone who associated with a person who has been alleged by some other people to be racist.
Alpha: "It would make me very happy to see the people who recorded and dishonestly edited that video of the ACORN workers sued into poverty for the rest of their lives, as well as their patrons."
Ha. So how come you don't apply that standard to your own MSM? They do it all the time.
Have to say, after watching you and garage defend the CRU fraud downthread, I regret ever taking the two of you seriously. What a waste of time that was.
Regarding the fugly mug of Jeremy Olson pictured in the post: I must say it's gratifying to associate a face with the commenters Garage Mahal, Jeremy, Alpha Liberal and few others. Nice-looking hero you guys have there- enjoy!
"And LASTLY...who knows more about their own body. The woman who is in childbirth and who has given birth more than one time? OR some gay guy who thinks women are some sort of alien race, or doofus men who keep bleating out the same ridiculous statements"
Yup. Even funnier, they are the same people who insist that these decisions should be left to the mother and her doctors.
I cannot figure out the obsession with Sarah Palin's last child. What is the point?
She's over 40; the chances of a problematic pregancy, or a Down's child, are a lot more likely than they would be for a healthy teenager.
There's just no mystery here, first, and second, so what if there were? Why the fascination?
It's just bizarre.
I'm just as mystified by the Saint Sarah contingent that are fascinated by her choosing to give birth rather than abort. Once again, it's her business, and her family's. I don't get the obsession with her reproductive life, one way or the other.
Hey Adele Mundy, your reputation precedes you. You hit the bullseye here, too, every time.
The professional trolls did a great job changing the topic on this thread. I'm sure if they continue to troll with this level of consistency they will get a little extra in their stockings in a few weeks from Axelturf and his wallet, Soros.
Crazy talk. She was in Fort Worth TX, and chose to fly to Anchorage, [8-9 hrs] and drove another 43 miles to Palmer AK to deliver.
Well, did she have the baby during that time? After she got the hospital, how long was it until she had him? I mean, wouldn’t the fact that baby was obviously not born on the plane and obviously fine prove you wrong about all this? Geez.
Actually, I was addressing the idea that R S McCain was a racist, so the sex of the co-writer was incidental to my point.
The point being that I read his first rebuttal from a link from Althouse, and still could not understand the whole issue. I can't find the original link, but Stacy McCain's latest attempt to address the racist stupidity is here, http://rsmccain.blogspot.com/2009/12/fear-and-loathing-at-patterico.html
Oh, and "he was alleged to have said", and "he was supposed to have posted under a pseudonym" really what you want to hang your hat on? Have you not leaned from the Limbaugh "quotes?"
Andrew Sullivan discussed his questions about Sarah Palin's odd pregnancy stories on the Joy Behar program last night and he didn't sound crazy the way the right-wing blogosphere has been trying to paint him.
That might be more of a you problem than an everybody else problem. It's certainly not only the right-wing blogosphere that has noted Andrew's bizarre obsession. His co-bloggers on The Atlantic site are clearly embarrassed by it, and they come mostly from the center or left.
Perhaps it's the accent that fools you. Did you know that Sullivan is the voice of the Geico Lizard? And he's taken about as seriously.
Crazy talk. She was in Fort Worth TX, and chose to fly to Anchorage, [8-9 hrs] and drove another 43 miles to Palmer AK to deliver.
With our last child, my wife was in labor more than long enough to make that trip. (Interestingly, it was a home birth and she recovered faster than with the other three. To be fair the first was an emergency C-Section after going breech as she zoomed through labor. Without the breech, my wife would have been in labor less than half an hour.)
I was in labor with my last child for 23 hours. Did Tapas in Barcelona, boarded a plane, pinched a loaf, landed at JFK, went to dindin at Olives By Todd English and pinched the baby out in the cab.
I say we women are strong humans. Don't question our mojo.

Great comment. I love it!!! He is now their face on the blog forever
It really sucks that I can't be on Althouse, since the stories are juicy today -- but real life interrupts until tomorrow. Just to say that this Olson cretin is almost as creepy as Al Franken.
I'm late to this little party, and therefore baffled as to how a simple comment thread about some fruit- (vegetable?) flinging fool became a Trig Trutherism conference, so let me be sure I've got the argument straight: If Acorn says the videos were edited (edited!!!), or if Fred Malek is antisemitic, or if Glen Reynolds has a point of view, then it's ok to throw tomatoes at Sarah Palin? Is that it?
If tomatoes are ok, where is the line that reasonable people would draw? Cantaloupes? Golf balls? Ninja stars?
In case anyone would like to do something about this, I have instructions here. They don't involve going after a nobody who didn't even have a permanent address but going after his widely-read supporters.

I thought that you wrote Jimmy Olsen at first.
Granted that doesn't really change my answer too much.
A hate crime - don't you think?
And the President throws like a girl, too...
Some people have no manners. Many of them seem to be liberals.
Sarah Palin could whip his ass.

Tomatoes are out of season. If he had a hockey puck, he wouldn't have missed.
I'm so disappointed that I didn't get out to the mall to see this in person. Damn.
While we're answering this, we should also answer Christopher Hitchens' question about Sarah Palin from his Slate piece yesterday, where he asked if there is anything more "cowardly and contemptible" than Sarah Palin's "second-hand, third-rate innuendo-mongering".

In fact, InstaPundit did not even post a single comment on that. I thought his blog liked to put its 2 cents in on everything in the news about Palin, but no, InstaPundit was brushing that one under the rug like a typical propaganda site.
Maguro,
What are you insinuating? Obama tosses people under the bus the moment they're outed. What more can we ask for in a politician???
I don't know that this shows that libs in general throw things when they can't get their way.
However, it does seem to show that this is true of Jeremys.

Andrea: Did you read Timothy Noah's piece, referred to in your Wikipedia quote and linked to in Hitchens' piece?
"Malek later tried to give a weaselly excuse for his conduct, but was caught by my Slate colleague Timothy Noah"
But you can keep quoting Wikipedia to defend Sarah Palin palling around with anti-Semites if you like.
Uh, I saw this last night and thought of this blog.
Hmmm.
Loafing Oaf:

Mental Illness knows no politics.
@Lynne: I agree. Thank God that unlike John Hinckely, he was only armed with a tomato.
Even I can sense some dissonance there.

Should we give it another try?
jeremy olson not very lucky. Or is he? After he threw it, did he say "Duh"?
Look at the picture. Is he shaving the inner parts of his eyebrows?

Yeah, that was done to death in that thread.
No wonder Jeremy has been to busy to do his usual fifty posts today.
A hero for our times, speaking fruit to power.
LMAO
I hope he didn't ask the cop to suck him like he does here all the
time.
Chipper-Doodle - You REALLY have to learn to express yourself with fewer words.
You sound like a little kid trying to impress his elders.
Just pull back a tad...we know how important it is to be loved by your fellow wing nuts.
And please...post more cool pictures of...YOU.
Adele Mundy - Is that an offer?
You'll have to stand in line...the local tea baggers have first dibs.
P.S. Why are so many here...SO obsessed with ME?
I find it rather bizarre to say the least.
You should not have used your real name. Won't they fire you at the community college?
P.S. Why are so many here...SO obsessed with ME?
I find it rather bizarre to say the least.
@Brian:
Good point, wasn't the only flag in her office supposed to be an Israeli one?
How's this for some excellence in journalism? From the link:
"Bloomington Police report that Bloomington Commander Mark Stehlik was struck in the face with one of the tomatoes and may face charges for assaulting a police officer"
I didn't know that getting hit in the face with a tomato was a crime. Or that you could face charges for it if you were unlucky enough to have it happen to you.
But it must be true since the layers of editors and fact checkers obviously gave it the thumbs up.
Fee, fie, foe, fum. This blog seems to draw an inordinate number of JUCO
instructors with lots of time on their hands.
It’s just not the same when Republicans throw arugula at President Obama.
The Democrats have the best fruits.
I mean, doesn't this guy get it that being an oaf is a bad thing?
Or, why don't you explain why it's "reasonable" to demand Palin prove she's the mother of Trig and "unreasonable" to demand Obama prove he was born in America. Aren't both groups "just asking questions?"
Sure. I would think its obvious, but for the slower people, I will give it a shot.
Palin- was pregnant, gave birth. Pretty simple.
Obama- born in America, will not provide birth certificate for unknown reasons.
And since one of the requirements to hold his job is to be born in American, even delusional people have a valid reason for requesting proof.
In your mind, how are the two of them connected?
Hey MonkeyBoy, Palin's co-author is a woman.
"I mean, doesn't this guy get it that being an oaf is a bad thing?"
At least he is not just loafing around. He is the Throwing Oaf.
Hey, it's Henry Rollins!
Paul:
I bow to your superior Fu.
So that makes her a one-sixteenth anti-semite I guess?
Why don't you give us a short example of a non-crazy reason to continue to insist she isn't the mother of her youngest child?
If memory serves, and that's because I stopped reading The Atlantic years ago, Sullivan holds the belief that Trig is really the spawn of Palin's teenage daughter? Is Sullivan aware that the rate of down syndrom births for women under 30 years old is something south of less than 1 in 1000 births?
Whatever his feelings of Sarah Palin, that is not exactly the wagon I'd hitch my horse to. Unless of course I wanted to confirm the consensus that I was a complete loon.
jeff said... Why don't you give us a short example of a non-crazy reason to continue to insist she isn't the mother of her youngest child?
He's not insisting she isn't the mother of Trig. Here's the YouTube of Andrew Sullivan dicussing Sarah Palin on Joy Behar's program.
I did not know that the New York Mets pitching staff trained in Minneapolis during the off-season.
Water breaking just means it's time for a vacation! Take a trip, hop on an 8 hour flight!
/Britney
How do you translate "I am simply saying cannot believe the story she has told...would someone please make sense of this story for me"
Translation:
"The act of giving birth is a "story" - a strange bizarre alien horror story that I, Andrew Sullivan, find darkly fascinating, because I hate and fear women, no moreso than when they act like women."
He also met with Andrew Sullivan in the green room and they had an off-the-record chat that Sullivan describes as "fascinating".
LOL. Did Sullivan get the boy wonder to sign his copy of Playgirl?
How do you translate "I have no idea...I'm not alleging anything...
I translate it as: "Nudge nudge. Know what I mean? Say no more...know what I mean? A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, eh?"
Who knew the Olsons were triplets?
Hey, it's Henry Rollins!
LOL!
@andrea
I don't think loafing oaf could be your ex-boyfriend because his coments are too unrelated to reality to bring hinm into contact with anyone ever.
"But you can keep quoting Wikipedia to defend Sarah Palin palling around with anti-Semites if you like."
If palling around with anti-Semites is good enough for the President, it's good enough for everyone else, too. Right?
MORONS
I just think Mr. Sullivan is confusing water breaking with water boarding. He didn't understand that either.
MORONS
Ordinarily I disapprove of ending a post by insulting another commenter. But really, arguing about childbirth with a mother is pretty stupid.
Good on ya DBQ.
How likely is it that a young girl gives birth to a child that has a problem associated with giving birth late in life?
Andrew Sullivan and his drooling readers are MORONS.
So too is that hack Joy Bayer. Oy - She's a headache in a can.
"I mean, doesn't this guy get it that being an oaf is a bad thing?"
At least he is not just loafing around. He is the Throwing Oaf.
I thought "Loafing Oaf" was based on generic code for a significant portion of the Democrat base.
"Getting on a plane for a 8 hour trip after breaking water not knowing if you would give birth to a special needs baby at 50k feet is not normal."
Thus spake Zerobirthra.
Ya betcha....I'm talking about you, garage.
I'm having a bad reaction to the right side of his face (my right). The left side is fine.
How is this not crazy? For Sullivan I mean.

One of the more honest right-wing bloggers, Patterico, is trying to get Robert Stacy McCain to answer a straight question about that quote, but McCain refuses.
Sorry, should be John Mahoney
Garage Mahal wrote:

What fetid, twisted imagination you have GM. I mean really.
Hold it.
Daddies help mommies make babies with their peepees.
No wonder Andrew Sullivan can not understand it.

I had a dream that some deranged moonbat assasinated Tina Fey by mistake. Woke up laughing.
You know "my little mucous plug" was the pet name that Senator Bacus had for his candidate for US Attorney.
Of course Alpha and Jeremy won't talk about that...I mean he is a Democrat after all.
Sorry that I did not spell Baucus right.
But it does ryhme with mucous. More or less.
Hypocrites again. As usual.
I wonder if he has mental problems, probably off his meds.
It's possible that it's Gene-etic
Pogo, you do know Gawker is satirical, yes? Snark is their business.
Garage Mahal: Local expert on water breaking and mucous plugs.
Next he'll be bringing up left-behind buttplugs.
Geez.
I knew Jeremy couldn't control himself.
Actually, I was addressing the idea that R S McCain was a racist, so the sex of the co-writer was incidental to my point.
The point being that I read his first rebuttal from a link from Althouse, and still could not understand the whole issue.
I can't find the original link, but Stacy McCain's latest attempt to address the racist stupidity is here,
http://rsmccain.blogspot.com/2009/12/fear-and-loathing-at-patterico.html
@Beth: "Pogo, you do know Gawker is satirical, yes? Snark is their business.
It was comedy, not satire; a mockery of Palin, not a satire of the "hero".
I mean, wouldn’t the fact that baby was obviously not born on the plane and obviously fine prove you wrong about all this? Geez.

there was a democrat primary here in Mass today to replace Ted Kennedy and I didn't even vote.
I guess I don't care.
The fish is going to win. She is up against 4 men. One of the repubs is a gay black man-yea good luck with that guy.
Of course she wasn't pregnant with a duck.
Then the dadies would have to put his quack-quack in the mommies.

All of that is fine Adam, just don't rub a back-up dancers face in youre crotch.
