Looks like he can have photo fun and still not lose track of his finger's orientation on the touch pad.
Anyway, it's good to know things are working out for these two. I could imagine that the kind of person who day after day (sometimes hour after hour) blogs and thinks about blog fodder could be challenging for the (seemingly) less compulsive Meade. But, we see that there was a need for Meade in the Althouse "vortex."
I hasten to add, however, that you're supposed to finish the bottle of wine when you open it. When you recork the bottle and finish it later, it's never quite the same.
Hah, hah! It WOULD look that way after three months. Enjoy the honeymoon while it lasts. Hopefully, you can then move to comfortable late-marriage without all the drama that usually occurs in between.
Prominent in the photo is the device, with Meade at the controls, used to capture Althouse, yet she is the one initiating/displaying the dominant embrace..(intentional irony?)
Other thoughts:
a. Dishtowel + sleeves rolled up...did Meade just do the dishes?
b. That looks like a bitchin' blender...is that the one Insta-Glenn recommends?
O.k. Where are all of the gay comments? Am I missing them? But then my taste runs about 10 years older than I. So maybe I alone appreciate that Meade is hot.
Lovely! And congratulations. May there be many more quarterverversaries! (My dearest and I are on our 78th. It's my 2nd marriage, his 5th. Before me, he just never met a woman who took that "until death do us part" thing seriously.)
1. Here's the high-quality blender. Who cares if Glenn recommends it? I recommend it! Meade recommends it. Buy it at that link and you will be contributing to this blog (without paying any more money).
2. Photo credit? Althouse! I used this excellent, convenient tripod and set the camera on its 10-second timer. After framing Meade and advising him not to move, I came over to pose with him in the space I knew was properly framed. I did that on one try. I'm pretty proud of it!
3. "Meade has that George Clooney thing going for him." I agree! "Gosh Meade is cute." Yeah!
4. "Guy's a stud, Althouse. Did you know that when you went to meeting him for the first time?" I'd said "send me a picture" a while back and, finally, he did. It was not what the delay in sending had caused me to imagine. So I knew what he looked like before I agreed to go out with a guy who was willing to drive 500 miles to meet me.
5. @Lem He wasn't speeding, just driving the normal way, going home at night with 140+ miles left to go. I was just being the self-indulgent passager, amusing myself with the camera and, later, sleeping. Yes, Meade likes to drive my car, as do I, but I also love being the passenger.
"After framing Meade and advising him not to move"
Now we know why Meade still has his hand ready for controlling the computer: he was continuing to comply w/ the don't move direction at the same time he was also complying w/ the pose w/ me direction. Wise husband, that one. Many years of bliss to follow.
Like Meade, I always wear the pants. [She just tells me which ones to wear.]
Seattle (where I live some of the time) doesn't even have polls any more--vote by mail only. Presumably this would bother you even more, so you could look at the glass as half full.
That should have been "a" tripod, not "and" up above.
Lem, glad you voted. This is a critical election in NJ. We're at the tipping point of this being a one party state.
When I went to my poll, there was a "Democratmobile" parked in the center of the lot with campaign signs all over the car. The two cops on duty, to maintain order, were merrily kibbitzing with their buddies from the Democratic machine.
I haven't flipped a lever since Jerry Ford was President. It was chad chad chad until the mopes in florida messed it up for everyone.
The punch card readers were hard to hack into. Not so the modern machines. The old machines had to be zeroed like a trip odometer -- left room for mischief by leaving tallies associated with the lever you wanted to win.
This is such a tender photo. It reminds me that I must kiss my adorable sweetheart and squeeze his arm with gentle loving fingers for the twenty years he has spent with me!

Awesome photo.
Many, many happy returns of the day.
Yay!
Ah, sweet love. I'm happy for you both.
(Meade looking somewhat devilish in the Althouse embrace)
That is the face of one lucky man.
"Meade looking somewhat devilish"
It's those eyebrows...
WV: "nonster"... a not-scary monster.
Congrats you two!
May that gleam in your eyes last many years.
Ah yes, the smirk of happiness. I like it.
Title that one Meade Within The Vortex.
*grins*
Happiness to you both.
The key to happiness is to realize just how lucky you are. From the looks of the picture, both of you do.
Congrats!
Ahhhhhh. Gosh.
Meade you lucky devil.
Thanks, everyone.
Yes, I think it just might work.
Why?
Shared interests, shared beliefs, nonsmokers, similar lifestyles, and...
both want children.
I was picturing a scene from SAW but it looks like you guys are doing just fine.
As you were.
both want children.
LOL
I think you left the word "grand" out.
Quarterversary?!? What're you guys, in high school?
'Cause you look like it.
Get a room.
Congrats!
Both want children?
Hey Meade, you already GOT children. You're a step-Dad, right?
Great photo. I hope it works, too.

Best wishes from USDA zone 6b.
May you both live and love in good health together for another four hundred.
P.S. Nice under cabinet lights!
Awww, hooray! You're a gorgeous couple.

Kitchen intimacy is special. Sharing your food preparation together leads to all kinds of needs being met.
"P.S. Nice under cabinet lights!"
Halogen. I hate fluorescent.
Very sweet! Are you now glad that you didn't sell your house?
Beautiful portrait of a young couple in love.
I love that you are visually wrapped up in each other.
I can understand what Meade saw in Althouse from a purely physical standpoint. She's photogenic. She really is pretty in a 50ish sort of way
Happy quarter!
WV: trash
Now take out the trash, Meade!
Meade the multitasker.
Looks like he can have photo fun and still not lose track of his finger's orientation on the touch pad.

1/4 congratulations! This picture is sweet, in the old fashioned sense.
Nice lighting, too, but you should change the cabninet door pulls.
(the other kev)
Meade, you have better things to be doing with those hands.
Congrats to you both!
Smoochin' in the kitchen, yay.
Congrats!
You look very happy.
So nice to see you enjoying love.
Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations and best wishes for many years of happiness.
That peninsula is hiding tour lack of pants, isn't it.
How about a quarter carat for a quarter year Meade?
wv: shibli Get yourselves a bottle and enjoy!
Here's to reaching that important millstone! cheers and congrats!
Guy's a stud, Althouse. Did you know that when you went to meeting him for the first time?
Excellent photo! Enjoy the day.
Very nice picture.
I hasten to add, however, that you're supposed to finish the bottle of wine when you open it. When you recork the bottle and finish it later, it's never quite the same.
Peter
Sweet photo. You get a pass on this quarterversary stuff for now.
Young love and all that.
(Just between us, your port door is open.)
"you're supposed to finish the bottle of wine when you open it"
You can drink too much wine with rules like that. It's only a half bottle, but it still takes 2 days to finish it.
WV: "monsto"
I'm picturing a great battle: Nonster versus Monsto.
Hooray!
Hey, is this photographic proof of Hoffman's despicable attack on Assemblywoman Scozzafava?
It offends me personally and exemplifies exactly what's wrong with his right wing backers!
No?
Oh.
Never mind.
P.S. Hippo University!
Congratulations.
Meade has that George Clooney thing going for him.
Now, here's Meade at his laptop just trying to set his fantasy football roster for the weekend, when along comes ... a fetching blond distraction.
Drat it all.
Can't concentrate.
Gone.
That makes my day, even with the overwhelming envy and coveting I must suppress. Oops, I guess I let it out.
Couldn't happen to a nicer couple, now stop canceling out each other votes.
Congratulations to both of you. May you enjoy a lifetime of joy together.
Keep up the good work!
congrats!
Today I'm celebrating my ten monthiversary of marriage. So, I'm joining you in the joy, celebrating the celebrations, delighting in the delight.
Hooray for the bliss!
My wife and I celebrated our 100th quarterversary this summer.
101 next week.
Woo hoooo!
I like the quarterversary idea,
After pogo's comment, I'm wondering if strangers assume M and A (mergers and acquistions?) are a long-married couple.
Congratulations are in order at the Meadhouse. What music is playing?
And, nice going, Pogo. Coincidentally, I have a quarter in my pocket right now. I know!
Great photo. Is that a MacBook Air?
Meade is quite the closthes horse, isn't he? :-)
Congrats!
Thx, hazy Dave.
Her parents may have objected to her marrying a marsupial, but we've been really hoppy.
Man, I got a million of 'em.
Oh yeah, don't forget to swap end zones at the end of the first quarter.
("Jump Around" occurs after the third quarter. Be sure to mark your calendars.)
Public affection is the greatest gift a wife can give to her husband. It is a big deposit into the love bank. Wow!
I'm afraid I have to be in the desenter column.
I will try and explain myself.

why did we cacht or dear Mead speeding in the rain with his dear wife and our dear host as his passenger?
my sentence dont need to make sense, I just want to know why was our dear Meade rushing after the concert?
It had been a great night.. what was the rush about?
not that is any of my business. I'm just asking.
I have never hard of a guy not adjusting the speed of the wipers.
im sorry but I'm not buying the sea of tranquility.
wv - entfusne = if it wasnt for this stupid wv i could post more often.
beautiful!!
Thats a terrific picture. You make a handsome couple and you look very happy, which means you're blessed. Congrats
If the question is why would Meade drive so fast in the rain with Althouse as his passenger...
I think thats for the jury to find out ;)
wv - redica - as if i didnt know.
Neat.
You both look great.
Celebrate!
Happy anniversary you two!
Great pic & congratulations!
Nice picture - there's a lot of joy there.
We either have Althouse asking Meade to drive fast or ... we have to believe the impossible that Meade took it upon himself to put Althouse in danger.
With leads me to the only conclusion and that is that Meades wife, also kwon to us as Althouse asked her husband also known as Meade to "hurry up"
maybe.. Im' just speculating.
I appreciate the artistic composition...
Prominent in the photo is the device, with Meade at the controls, used to capture Althouse, yet she is the one initiating/displaying the dominant embrace..(intentional irony?)

All I know is that they were going so fast Althouse could not take a picture to save her mortal soul ;)
it was a blur!
Luther said a man and a wife who are happy together is as beautiful as a rose bush.
It's nice to see it!
Our Ann looks so happy -- almost made me regret being single for a nanosecond.
Congrats to the happy couple!
i know i'm out on a limb when i say this but .. in my present condition I'm just going to go ring and say it.
We need .. heck we want Meade and .. waths her name?
for the sakes of us all!
I think we need them together!
My impression is that Althouse is enjoying her blog more sinse Meade.
I mean this could not be better for us!
O.k. Where are all of the gay comments? Am I missing them? But then my taste runs about 10 years older than I. So maybe I alone appreciate that Meade is hot.
Cool. Gosh Meade is cute.
wv: codstyw.
Ok I had a little complaint. its over!
I think the fact that Meade drives his wife is a major cue ;)
Meade is my hero!
Caption: In a moment of steaming ardor, Ann rocks Meade with a right hook and a smack on the jaw.
Great picture! Congratulations.
If anybody has has anything.. anything to say ... I got Pauly Walnusts on the phone.

Hey, Palladian!!!
Hi guys ;)
You both look terrific. Congrats!

Palladian is here?

WE MISSED YOU PALLA.
I dont know about other people but I know I have.
Soon after this picture was taken, Meade gave Ann Althouse the Aunt Jemima treatment!

nice going Althouse ;)

"another song whith white folk pretending to sing the blues.."
Only one requirement for singing or even enjoying the blues. You got to live 'em now and then.
"After framing Meade and advising him not to move"

If the first anniversary (or in your case, Anniversary) is paper, is the quarterversary Post-Its?
Let's fold scarves!
Put up many more pictures so that Palladian will stick around!
Before Ann explained exactly how that picture was taken, I was about to suggest that Meadehouse ditch their photo-taking guest as quickly as possible.
Good to know it was a merely and tripod and a laptop between you two and your quarter-honeymoon.
Enjoy!
I wish i could report i pulled the lever..

it was not the same for me.. pushing a button.

it was so fast it was over before i knew waht had happened.
i think i need to move out of NJ.
No offence Bissage.

Thanks again, everybody!
(Lem, amigo mio, you crack me up, man.)
Apologies to Ann and Meade for the brief political hijack of their love post.
vote by mail only..
i thinks that turning democracy over to to the post office is a bad idea.
you are right, i cant think of anything more depressing ;)
wv - vinge - wv is a kiss and tell veteran.
that was a funny link profe.
Meade my friend .. i secretely pull for you al the time
ssshh.
Everything I know about Meade says hes not a Yankee fan..
In oother words, I could not hold my friend Meade in higher steam ;)
BTW - i just want to mention it was reassuring to see the volunteers at the high school doing the work they do every election.
they are the unsong heroes of our democracy.

Here's to the next three quarters, and all the wholes after that!
Can't vouch for the blender, but the Joby Gorillapod is a very handy tripod. I use it a lot more than my old-school Star-D.
"BTW - i just want to mention it was reassuring to see the volunteers at the high school doing the work they do every election."
Lem, they aren't volunteers. They get paid BIG bucks to sit there.
Some say that the selection for such a cushy job is dependent on your local politics, if you get my drift.
Hey Larry,
Your Carl Dean impression just keeps getting worse!
Congrats.
Alternate Wisconsin quarter here (along with several other states).
Amusingly, Googling drunk on ice wisconsin quarter returned a blog called Althouse as the top result.
Oops, almost got lost listening to old Airplane tunes and reading old comment threads...

*squee!* So cute! Happy Quarterversary!
Congrats and many more quarters!

Congrats, you two.
