"How to Make a Baby."

How to Make a Baby from Cassidy Curtis on Vimeo.

I loved that. So vivid and quick. But "Oh god. I don't know why, but that really viscerally freaked me out. Intellectually, I'm sitting here thinking I shouldn't have found that upsetting, but for some reason I'm really distressed. I really didn't like that and I don't know why."

At last I understand what a Blow Job means.

Depends on what you mean by "means," tradguy.

I don't know why, but that really viscerally freaked me out.

Maybe it was:

1) Dad's overdone soul patch; or

2) The way the baby in the production logo at the end opens her eyes and rolls them up and apart into the back of her head like a demon?

I found that delightful.

But Ann,

Are you trying to tell us something?

Joan said...

I'm with Angst.

Funny, that's not something I ever thought I'd say.

It could be for the same reason why nobody is famous for whistling anymore ;)

LOL. We're trying really hard!

It's fascinating that none of the books move. Why have all those books if you never look at them?

Meade, remember what I said about the finest man that ever breathed?

If you've accomplished that, you're worthy of what Thackeray said of Jim Bowie

I would have named him Flatus Fartsworth after the inventor Philo Farnsworth.

We've all got our calendars marked for anytime the next 10-months!

Persistence, persistence, persistence! Plus, no gain without pain!

What happens if this happens?

Whats a blog ;)

Clever. The opposite of what you get when you pull someone's finger.

Oh I know what would happen.

We get Bush back as president (at least on the blog)

Carry on Meade ;)

I'm not sure what part of that can be distressing. I thought it was clever and cute.

Do you have any grandkids, Ann?

I can't believe how much difference that makes. I'm trying to imagine how I'd have reacted 5 years ago, but I don't think it would have been as warm and fuzzy as I do now.

No. I almost never get to hang out with babies these days, unfortunately.

For the same reason you have a soul patch when you're over 35 I suspect. Keeping up appearances.

I thought that's what you had this blog for, Althouse.

Ann Althouse said...

@Palladian LOL. And great to see you here.

Good lord, is that how it's done!?!

(I don't get out much)

Also, as a general lurker, I, too, am glad to see comments from Palladian again.

The boy got his words mixed up the other day. Trying to describe one of those "Life begins at Conception" billboards, he said "Life begins at Contraception."

That is great! So... given the hated it comment at Metafilter, does that me good idea or bad idea to send this around to friends?

Freeman Hunt said...

Oh, and...

Babies rule.

me = mean in the first comment

I am actually holding a baby while commenting, thus the typos.

YAY. I'm going to become a blog auntie!

Cute, but why did they bother to do it?

Too much time on their hands?

I'm always willing to spin a Decline of the West theory.

The childishness, uselessness, overindulged spoiled brattiness of it... does this mean we're near the end?

This is the sort of thing that makes you think that all out nuclear war and building up again from the level of single cell creatures might not be a bad idea.

Annie, I say this from love: you are old. Don't get pregnant. Your baby would have a 99% chance of being down's syndrome. Only poor people angling for social security disability checks do such a thing.

And you, a law professor!

You're born with all the eggs you're ever going to have. Your eggs are old and sulphurous and past the "use by" date stamped on the end of the carton.

Some of those commenters at Metafilter had better give Precious a wide berth.

The books don't move because of a video cheat -- if you go to their explanation of how it was done, you'll see that not only do the books not move, but neither does the curtain [which is -highly- unlikely]

Welcome back, Victoria. Nice to see your comments again.
