post-divorce backonthemarket dating, even through these bullshit online sites, is an exercise in confronting everything you ever despised about social-interaction horseshit and gamespersonship, with a surprising velocity.
even the divorcees who one would expect to be over the bullshit, having been there and done that, are themselves to a surprising degree the same high-school-style phoney gameplayers that you encounter among the 41 years old, never married, no kids, "want kids? 'someday'" crowd from whom you expect that sort of thing (it does explain why they're still single, after all)...
being someone without a lot of time to devote to deciphering someone else's neuroses, "the girlfriend experience" is beginning to seem like a square bargain by comparison. whiskey tango foxtrot, people?
My only problem with sugar is that it is based on all the work of slaves (from the past), and all money made from it should be given to the descendants of slaves. Also, all the money from dental work made by dentists (who are white) should be given to the descendants of slaves who worked the cane fields. Otherwise, I like sugar.
There's this cute little girlie, she's a'workin' there A black leotard and her feet are bare I'm gonna drink a lotta coffee, spend a little cash Make that girl love me when I put on some trash You can understand why I've got to get back To that sugar shack, whoa baby, to the sugar shack.
Maybe this will help veni, I don't know.
If you're a decent enough guy, you'll be uncovered by females who would love to at least spend some time with you. Maybe more of them in the terrestrial world -- friends of friends, fellow attendees at parties or weddings. The kind of dating sites you seem to be describing tend to be populated with people, women especially, who are already very frustrated and are trying out things they read somewhere that aren't really themselves.
You also might not be ready. There's a grieving process, even if you're glad the divorce happened.
Looks reasonably cool. I'll consider stopping in my next trip to capital city, but Mad City Music on East Williamson remains the record/CD store to beat...
I would walk State Street when I was a youngster and love to go to all the CD Stores.
I would buy my Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Human League and Thompson Twins and Haircut 100 and Kajagoogoo-loved that shit. I was totally all about Brit music. I tried to make my hair look like the Flock of Seagulls guy-so sad. I was like 12.
Is B Side still there too?
There used to be so many CD stores on State. Actually there used to be so many cd stores everywhere.
When I moved to Boston there was Tower and Virgin and HMV and I was totally psyched.
I kind of miss going to CD stores.
They didn't just have CD's. They usually had really cool mags, clothes and other crap.
What family members didn't know was that Goncalves had spent the night at a truck stop talking with friends over drinks of a sugarcane liquor known as cachaca.
The story of Jimmy Gilmer & the Fireballs is somewhat confusing, in that the Gilmer-fronted lineup was identical to the one that played on records simply credited to the Fireballs (see separate entry). The New Mexico band had several instrumental hits in the late '50s and early '60s in a slick Tex-Mex style, with staccato guitar lines that prefigured surf music. Using the same producer as Buddy Holly (Norman Petty), the group also performed controversial overdubs that were added to some of Holly's posthumously released material. Again following the lead of Holly and the Crickets, in the mid-'60s they recorded some singles credited to Jimmy Gilmer & the Fireballs. These were distinguished from most other Fireballs records in that they were vocal numbers, not instrumental, Gilmer (who was second guitarist in the Fireballs) being the lead singer.
Jimmy Gilmer & the Fireballs had a monster number one single in late 1963 with "Sugar Shack," a light pop/rocker dominated by the vibrating sound of a primitive precursor to the synthesizer, the Solovox. The song was singled out for special venom by Greil Marcus in The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll, who called it "the worst excuse for itself rock and roll had yet produced." The public disagreed, sending it to number one; surprisingly, it also topped the R&B charts.
Gilmer and band made the Top 20 one more time with "Daisy Petal Pickin'," a transparent "Sugar Shack" soundalike, right down to the Solovox. They cut various flops for Dot in the mid-'60s, and Gilmer recorded a Buddy Holly tribute album on his own. Signing to Atlantic in 1967, the Fireballs had another Top Ten hit with Tom Paxton's "Bottle of Wine," without giving top billing to Gilmer, although he was still in the band. Gilmer left the Fireballs shortly afterwards, though, and the Fireballs saga petered out after a few other low-charting singles in the late '60s.
Sorry -- the welcome page is quite discreet, so I thought nothing of it. The URL must be in a list.
For decades, the Sugar Shack has been written up in the Chicago papers, completely because of the Girls Night Out experience, and how giddy women of all ages get when they go there.
From their history page:
[Owner] Dana [Montana] has been featured on "The Phil Donahue SHow", The Tom Snyder Tomorrow Show", "The 20/20 Show", "The Geraldo Rivera Show", as well as scores of other radio and television shows. She has been written about in "Time Magazine", "People Magazine", and every major newspaper in the United States.
Dana Montana and "THE SUGAR SHACK" are a legitimate rags to riches story. A true American phenomenon!!!
I'm amused by the Simon & Garfunkel album they have at their website for $40... Don't recall seeing it back in the day, but it's on Pickwick (red flag there as to quality) with a misleading mid-60's cover photo. The songs appear to be from their teenage "Tom And Jerry" period featuring well-known S & G tunes like "Hey School Girl", Teen Age Fool", "Tia-Juna Blues" and "Two Teen Agers"...
So, did you buy anything? Dylan's Christmas album? The American Metaphysical Circus? Love Can Make You Happy?
You might be able to find some Sugarman Three at the Sugarshack. Off the grid Brooklyn funk from the great Neal Sugarman of Daptone Records, and the Dap-Kings, the band Amy Winehouse scooped up for her smash Back to Black. Go ahead and nail your ass to your chair if you don't want to shake it...Unless you're from the west side that is.
I debated (internally for 5 seconds) on whether or not to add sugar to Butternut squash and sweet potato pie, as the squash is already sweet when it's roasted, but I added it anyway, and I'm glad I did. A little sugar made it even better. Both in the crust and in the filling.
Army says 12 killed and 31 wounded in shooting at Fort Hood
"A law enforcement official identified the shooting suspect as Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan. The official said Hasan, believed to be in his late 30s, was killed after opening fire at the base.
The official says investigators are trying to determine if Hasan was his birth name, or if he changed his name and converted to Islam at some point in his life."
Meanwhile, many well-meaning people are urgently trying to get more "noble refugees" into America from Somalia, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan. And "reunite the families and relatives" of persecuted peoples from Palestine and other oppressed ME countries - in Michigan and New Jersey.
Dr. Hasan was educated at the following institutions:
Medical School Faculty of Medicine, Damascus University or Faculty of Human Medicine, Damascus University Completed: 1990
Residency Usuhs Psychiatry
He apparently made numerous negative comments about American military actions in the middle east and was agitated and disappointed that Obama did not, as Dr. Hassan had expected, ease American participation in Afganistan.
"Communists during the cold war were never as active in their espionage as the muslims have been lately."
Huh?
Communist espionage during the Cold War was very successful over a substantial period of time, involving crucial atomic secrets, military plans and a number of moles and double agents who did great damage to our own intelligence gathering.
I am not aware of any successes in espionage and intelligence gathering by "Muslims" in the past decade or so. Can you cite any?
I count WTC as espionage. I also total up all of the muslim honor killings and spontaneous jihad acts. Stolen military secrets didn't kill anybody even cost much money.
Thanks John Stodder, I've regained my bearings. Some people are just good people and when you find someone who's looking for the same thing at the same time you are it's a surprise and a blessing.
Most of the time, people don't know what they want and don't recognize a good thing when it's in front of them. Tough shit for them.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a great weekend; hope y'all have the same.
Ah, the Sugar Shack, an embodied anachronism of arrested technological development. Reminiscent of of Wazoo Records in A2 and East Lansing. A place to find Jaime Brockett's "Remember The Wind and The Rain" LP, slightly used (pops, hisses and scratches)or the Milli Vanilli's "Blame It On The Rain" Cassette single.

Blech.
The World Series haiku of Ichiro in honor of his fellow countryman, Matsui (aka The Bitter Time):
you: standing nearby
me: gripping baseball, i
whip it at your head
if i had reason
i would cry had guts I’d die
guess i’ll just get high
no more stories of you
i guess they’re not into me
whatever, you suck
selling your body
not as easy as it looks
pimps are pretty harsh
in these trying times
why don’t we all take a break
and just stop trying
dawn breaks sweetly
rest of the day pretty
much downhill from there
to find a new lord
i will travel far by foot
and live by hard wood

Jack Black?
I've decided my next old CD purchase will be Damn the Torpedoes.
Baby even the losers get lucky some time.
Crap, FLS, put up a NSFW sign on that.
That place is still open?

Is Visions still on East Wash across from Pedros?
Empire Records - Sugar High
Excellent Fred4Pres.
Terrible shooting at Ft Hood in Killeen Texas. 7 dead, 30 wounded, 3 shooters, one shooter dead, one shooter contained, a third shooter on the run.

Yep.
The man that walked in on his funeral..

Sweet.
While looking for a birthday gift for my sister-in-law, I found this hilariously ironic set of forty-five-dollar dishtowels.
Reminded me of this post.
wv - stramin: Portmanteau of "stylish" and "Ramen". A more glamorous packet of curly noodles.
No bad Fred..
Its going to be very hard for them to show him the door after an MVP.
Does the Sugar Shack have Red Raven Animated Records, along with the handy-dandy viewer?
At least it's not The High Fructose Corn Syrup Shack, where cows and hogs for slaughter must eat, along with Humans that fail to read labels.
Lem, I like cachaca. With lots of lime.
