I was disappointed in the State Dept during her term there; I was hoping for a house-cleaning. hard to say if that was due to personal failures on her part, or to the entrenched bureaucracy.
Her status should go up as Bush's legacy is looked at less negatively.
The big question is, what is her view on spending? There are a lot of Republicans out there who are into big government, I'll go with whoever is least like them.
OT (but not really OT): Former ambassador Bolton made a great comment about Zero's apology (what else?) for the United States to the assembled UN thugs today. Bolton said: "It amounted to, can't we all get along?" Priceless.
ACORN, taking a break from its apology tour, said today that it’s filing suit against James O’Keefe, Hannah Giles and Andrew Breitbart’s Breitbart.com. The complaint: “The video and audio footage was taken without the knowledge of Williams and/or Thompson and in violation of Maryland’s Courts and Judicial Proceedings Code §§ 10-402(a) and 10-410, which requires two party consent to all electronic surveillance. Violation of the law is a felony, and entitles parties whose rights were violated to sue.”
Also, Condi was a good but what's her fiscal attitude and where's she stand on the social issues facing US! These would make a difference on whether she'd get Conservative support.
I loved Condi to death. I wanted her to be President back in the day.
But here is the difference between Palin and Rice. While Condi is much more intelligent than Palin, Sarah knows how to LEAD people. Rice doesn't know how to do that. She doesn't have leadershipi genes in her. Palin's got that in her DNA.
Rice did a workmanlike job at State, but she won't be remembered as a latter-day George Catlett Marshall.
Condi is an academic who is where she belongs. I am at peace with that. This is the desperate whining of people who can't get used to the fact that Sarah Palin is a freight train that is headed right at the Ass Clown G.O.P..
It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys. The whole Bushie crowd that still runs the RNC deserve a good horsewhipping, and I say that as a Republican.
Revenant said... Among the many problems with recruiting Rice as a party leader would be that she almost certainly voted for Obama last year. :)
Hating John McCain does not put Condi out of the running with conservatives. They understand.. The fact that she is a spinster and pro-abortion and believes in evolution - are all problems....

Given how many things went off the tracks for the Bushies and their neocon influencers and Wall Street cronies, Condi will be long dead before anyone thinks of rehabbing Dubya's time as a wonderful thing.
Right now, the debate is limited to deciding who between Carter, Harding, Buchanan, Hoover and Bush was the worst President.
Coming in "above Carter" or tied with Hoover does not a good rehab make.
Rehabbing Bush's presidency will certainly happen sooner or later.
That doesn't mean that you have to agree that he was any better than anyone thought at the time, C4. In fact, you can be disturbed and appalled that it's happening and everyone is ignoring all those things that bother you... but it's still going to happen.
Apparently I'm the only one who's noticed that the linked page is entitled "Time to Pimp Rice".
In any case, Condi would be a great choice. After all, due to the substances they put in our water we've forgotten all about Bush already. In fact, one of those substances is causing some people to miss the ol' rapscalion.
Plus, not only would Condi revive Bush's wonderful foreign policy, but she'd continue his patriotic domestic policies.
P.S. Everyone else is also being sarcastic, right?
Condi Rice, lying to the American people about an imminent nuclear threat from Saddam Hussein:
"The problem here is that there will always be some uncertainty about how quickly he can acquire nuclear weapons. But we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."
At the end of the linked article: This means that once Republicans make a comeback Dems could very easily do what they did during Bush 43rd’s administration: Go after Republicans relentlessly until voters believe they’re nothing more than a bunch of corrupt villains which will inevitably result in victories for Democrats.
So it would really do no good for the GOP to sweep the midterms?

We haven't had a piano player in the White House since Nixon.

O'Keefe/Giles 2024!
It's unbelievable. Next they're gonna be telling us the future of the Republican Party lies with Colin Powell.

I read an op-ed today that blamed Alma Powell for Obama.
in 1996, we would have had a Black President who believed in America.
I'd go with Ann Coulter if it has to be a woman.

While we're at it, why not Althouse as AG? She'd be better than Holder.

Palin may actually get the nomination in 2012, which will be a chance for people to rethink their vote in 2008.
President Zero will have been on the Jay Leno 1,024 times by then.
Rice did a workmanlike job at State,
That's workpersonlike job!

eh. She never acted like she wanted the job.
She's too smart to want it. I don't blame her one bit. No SANE person would actually want that position.
The more the sorrow for us.
The really qualified, smart and ethical people opt out.
Just look at what we get.
She should "come back" as a defendant for lying to the American people to sell the invasion of Iraq.
And also for conspiring to break torture law and treaties.
Condi Rice is downright Nixonian:
"By defintion,'' Rice explains, "if it was authorized by the president, it did not violate our obligations.''
Condi Rice, lying to the American people about an imminent nuclear threat from Saddam Hussein:
"The problem here is that there will always be some uncertainty about how quickly he can acquire nuclear weapons. But we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."
The woman is disgraced.

Maybe she could get James O'Keefe to be her press secretary.
Alpha liberal: where's the lie, precisely. Be specific.
Love Condi!!!!
