It's so "cute... really sweet" when Obama gets the facts all wrong.

So says Billie Jean King... who's sporting a cute, sweet Sarah Palin look these days. See:

Most of those extra titles were won in States 51 thru 58 and Billy Jean just forgot about them. Where is Teleprompter when he is needed?

That's all fine and good! Just don't misspell potato.

I don't see the Sarah Palin look.

And...I think if it were so "cute...and really sweet" she wouldn't have mentioned it. Sports records are a big deal. Sheesh. It's really not hard to get it right.

But nice of BJK to give Obama a little bit of cover.

This has been mentioned before, but it definitely is appropriate here -

Even the state-run media has said that when The Messiah fumbles, stumbles, "mis-speaks," or gets things wrong, it shows he is "human." We all err, so such failings just remind us of that.

Yet, rewind to any stumbling, fumbling, etc. by any member of the Republican party, and they are immediately branded an idiot and/or moron who is scarcely able to tie their own shoes.

Obama spews any shit he wants to at any time about anything and moves on. It's beyond lying. In his own mind he has become the imperial we. We have spoken. IT IS SO.

Quick, better go rewrite those record books. If Obama says she won 12 Grand Slam titles, then that's what she won.

1. I'm not going to comment on how she looks.

2. Maybe this BHO lie would be a better thing to pay attention to, especially since lying about that appears to deeply ingrained.

My favorite "Obama flubs the facts" happened during the campaign. He told a stunned crowd that 10,000 people had just died in a Kansas tornado. It was more like 7.

Bet Billy Jean would just love the comparison to Sarah Palin.

They would be best of pals, I'm sure.

A lot of guys just drifted off into fantasy land with the thought of a Sarah/BJ meet up . . .

Ann, good job in getting your daily Palin post in. Though, I don't think this one is going to get the Althouse Hillbillies yelping.

Barack Obama still doesn't get that a President needs a good staff and that he needs to take the time to get properly prepped.

The man either has very poor staff or is too impatient or (probably) both.

I'm just guessing here, but would Billie Jean have been so forgiving if it was a Republican president who underestimated her titles by almost 70%?

@Beth, are you on this thread? What do you think?

Well I guess she is more likely to be less forgiving of a Republican president who wants to keep her as a second class citizen.

Total TOTUS fail!!! Besides, what has BJK done to deserve a medal of freedom? Is it like paying to get your own star on the walk of fame?

Big Mike said...

@L.E., you really have to can it with the bigotry. What makes you think that all Republicans want Billie Jean or anyone else to be a second class citizen?

As far as I'm concerned the only difference between you and the redneck crackers I demonstrated against back in the late 1960's is that you mindlessly spew hatred and contempt towards Republicans and they mindlessly spewed hatred and contempt towards you. You're not in great company, friend.

Maybe I'm wrong but I though a grandslam is when you win all 4 most prestigious tournaments in the same season.

The Australian, The French, Wimbledon and The US Open.

The original meaning of the word represents 4 Runs Batted In (RBI's) from a single at bat. 4 runs does not mean 4 grandslams.

Maybe Darcy can shed some light on the tennis side of things.

Darcy said...

Sure, Lem.

You're right about the "grand slam" events. Tennis fans call them all just that - grand slam titles, so this causes a bit of confusion. There is also such a thing as a "calendar grand slam" - meaning winning all four of those titles in a single season, or a "career grand slam", which is winning all four in a tennis career.

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

So she's probably talking career grand slam. Still.. it is very good waht she did, I 'm not taking anything away from her.

I know in golf you have to win all 4 to be called a grand slam.

Very gracious of her considering that Obama's next book is the official biography of Billie Jean King's.

I'm guessing Obama used the NYT's fact checking service.

Obama's Medal spree reminds me of when Chief Roberts worked at Reagans White House.

"I recognize that I am something of a vox clamans in terris in this area, but enough is enough. The Office of Presidential Correspondence is not yet an adjunct of Michael Jackson’s PR firm. 'Billboard' can quite adequately cover the event by reproducing the award citation and/or reporting the President’s remarks. (As you know, there is very little to report about Mr. Jackson’s remarks.) There is absolutely no need for an additional presidential message. A memorandum for Presidential Correspondence objecting to the letter is attached for your review and signature."

Does anybody say NO at this White House? I mean they are on some kind of a pace.

KCFleming said...

When you're spending a billion dollars an hour, it's hard to remember small numbers like '39'.

Compared to the federal deficit, which just hit $1.27 trillion, he made an error of 0.00000000007%.

Not worth fussing about.

OTOH, if he keeps doing that next year, under his new health plan we can pull the plug.

Being curmudgeonly in return, the hallmark of a militaristic or fascist society is of worshipping the hero troops, the hero cops and secret police who "save us all" from "freedom-haters, haters of the Volk.., the Revolution".

Besides, we already have a plethora of awards, special deals, full retirement after 20 years and so on reserved only for "The Heroes".

The Medal of Freedom goes to luminaries and several not-so-luminaries for their contributions outside what the "armed saviors" who are 4% of the US population do.

It's a civilian award.

One could argue that the loss of 5,000 factories and 3.7 million manufacturing jobs that hit hundreds of towns with the economic equivalent of small A-bombs are a bigger long term threat to Loss of Freedom for "Freedom-Lovers" than two big office buildings getting hit.

And 4 out of 5 of those jobs were middle class, upper middle class provate sector jobs. Add in the 20 million illegals here doing any low skilled job at nearly any price and the lower skilled native Americans also have had a major assault on their Freedom.
(35 of of 100 Americans aged 20-24 are not employed. 19 of 100 aged 20-35 do not have jobs).

Perhaps future Freedom Medals will go to the people that can restore our economic freedom and free opportunity and a chance for both ghetto kids and kids really wanting to build consumer goods here in the USA and college-educated software designers will all have a future.

I've seen Billie Jean in several interviews discuss the Larger Issues of Life. She seems courteous, intelligent, and down to earth. What I particularly like about her is that she hasn't gone the botox/plastic surgery route. Her face looks comfortable and good natured......Maybe middle aged lesbians should be the fashion trend setters in showing women how to age gracefully. Early in her career she was upstaged by the better looking players but she now has the last laugh on a lot of them.

Hi Mike,

Sorry man. I'm not your standin for when you need a liberal straw man. I'm not a professional Obama defender in any case.

I'd hope that if a GOP prez flubbed the stats, that she'd make a gracious little dig in response, as she did today. But I can't swear it would go that way since it would require a GOP prez to share the stage with a big old dyke. I guess that's possible.

What's the big deal? I'm glad he has more important things to do than double check sports statistics, although the summer intern who looked up the numbers can probably kiss his/her job goodbye.

As for mentioning it, she's being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. You want she should interrupt the President's speech to say, "Um, excuse me Barack, that was 39 titles not 12!"

Jim Hu said...

The 12 is her record in singles. The others were doubles and mixed doubles. Most casual observers would assume that he was talking about singles. I also suspect that they just counted the number off the info box on her Wikipedia page.

The award has little to nothing to do with people in foreign countries who risked & sought Freedom!!! for their native folk or US civilians for that matter who risked their necks for Freedom Lovers!!

It is about people who somehow advanced America by individual accomplishment.
Charleton Heston deservedly got one, but the awards seem to skew to celebrities and media-obsessed loudmouths like Jesse Jackson, Mary Robinson in recent years - who don't do anything, they demand others do it... Less of distinguished academics, diplomats, scientists, business leaders, writers - recently.
