OK, no lobster talk, let's talk about a surly crocodile, instead.

XWL - wow, that happened to me once at Disneyland. I think it was on the African Safari.

Dammed realistic, I say.

Penny said...

I didn't realize we were REQUIRED to talk about lobsters in the first place. ;)

I see a "grass" tag on this post, this Op/Ed from today's Seattle Times by Froma Harrop, critical of the Obama administration, would seem to be fitting then.

Also, any members of the Republican Women of Simi Valley Club need a date to their closed to the public 50th Anniversary Party at the Reagan Library August 8th?

I'm available and discreet.

This looks like it's from POV of a free-range lobster.

A we move down the alphabet the next word is Mobster. That is indigenous to Chicago and instead of putting a mobster head first into boiling water it is usually put feet first into wet concrete. Anybody hear what was the score in Chitown for homocides was today?

Mark said...

Can we be political? I feel the need to get a chit down on something. When Colin Powell starts expressing "grave concerns" about Obama's administration, we'll know the beltway establishment has cut the O loose.

A friend of mine forwarded to me an e-mail they got from the Obama Administration-

Title of e-mail-

Something Unusual

From:info@barackobama.com

[name redacted]

You've probably seen the headlines: Opponents of change are doing everything they can to delay health insurance reform. As a Republican strategy memo concluded, "If we slow this sausage-making process down, we can defeat it."

They're betting that as time goes by, our energy will flag, our movement will weaken, and they'll ultimately be able to block any change.

But they just don't get it -- thanks to the regular Americans who are reaching out in neighborhoods nationwide, our movement is expanding every day. In fact, over the weekend, we surpassed our big goal of 1 million people taking action for health insurance reform. And with your help, we'll keep growing and prove that our opponents' strategy of "delay, delay, delay" simply won't work.

So I want to ask you for something unusual: Can you chip in $1 each day until we pass real health insurance reform? A huge response will show the insurance companies and their allies in Congress that their delay tactics will only make our movement stronger.

Here's how it works: We'll bill your credit card for 30 days' worth of donations now and once a month until the President signs real health insurance reform into law.

{It goes on, blah, blah, blah}

Thank you,

Mitch

Great it's a win-win for them.

Do they really have supporters that gullible!?

1 - Regarding XWL's crocodile link: Thanks for that. I sent it to my daughter. When she was little I used to tell her that the world is not a playground, meaning that you have to take some responsibility for your safety by exhibiting prudent behavior. It's become a joke between us now.

2 - Regarding Mark's linK White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said it would be a "poignant" photo op proving people can discuss their differences.

It hasn't happened yet and he already knows it will be "poignant"? FOR PETE'S SAKE.

3 - I never got emails from the Bush administration. Can anybody remember his administration talking about the Democrats as "opponents"? I mean after he had won the election? Or any Republican president's administration doing that? I am seriously asking.

And what's the money for? TV commercial demagoguery? And the credit card withdrawals keep up until Obama signs health care into law - what if it never passes both houses? They'll be billed indefinitely?

That crocodile pick is scary!

Please tell me that wasn't autographed by the President. Have they still not hired anyone for the protocol office?

Big Mike said...

@Shanna, they did, but there seems to be a little problem with unpaid taxes...

What's new?

Oh, one more thing. Posted on facebook by a high school teacher today:

""Will it be compulsory? Well, only in that it will be required.". Genius."

Is this an Obama quote?

Can anybody remember his administration talking about the Democrats as "opponents"? I mean after he had won the election?

I don't know. The tone of that email is definately odd. "Opponents of change". God.

That quote from the republicans about slowing down the sausage process...damn straight and glad to know somebody in the party has a clue!

They have some stones ready to be arranged in a profile of MLK.

Freeman Hunt said...

Heh @ Jason.

I used to be nearly platinum blonde (for years), but I had long hair. Then I was golden blonde, and I had short hair. Now with the powers of these states of hair combined, I am Captain....

Well, I guess bleaching your hair doesn't make you captain of anything. Rats.

That's because the Democrats rolled over for Bush regularly. The GOP is much better at acting as an actual opposition party than the Dems are.

Donna B. said...

@Freeman Hunt -- it's not blonde that I've searched for all these years. I was naturally one of those.

I wanted to be a redhead!! Fortunately I gave birth to one and her stylist recently kept samples of her hair when she had it cut and is going to concoct that color for me and everyone else who is jealous of my daughter's hair color.

(When my daughter was in the 7th grade, a friend once told me that it was only the penalty of law that kept her from scalping my daughter to possess her hair. And yes, I did re-think our friendship after that encounter.)

Except for SS reform, restraints on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, at least 9 federal judgeships, or anything that might have lowered or even slowed domestic spending. Thank goodness they stood up to him on Amnesty.

Freeman Hunt said...

I love this, but I would never cut my hair that short. Or maybe that cut is just appealing because the model is far more attractive than hairstyle models usually are.

knox said...

Freeman,

I can't see the photo. In fact, that site won't let me see any of the photos, even on Firefox. Are you on (the dreaded) IE?

Hoping I can get it to work--it looks like a great resource for hairstyles, which are so hard to find.

Freeman Hunt said...

Don't you hate it when you're looking through a hairstyle gallery, and you have to flip past hundreds of bizarre, avant garde creations to find a few pictures of hair that regular people would have? What's with all these geometric cuts? Outside of a hairstyle gallery, I have never seen anyone's hair cut like a Platonic solid, but inside a hairstyle gallery, it is the norm.

Freeman Hunt said...

knox,

The site is great. Unfortunately, I am using IE. Normally I use Chrome, but it crashed so many times today that I gave up. I used Firefox for years but started having problems with it and haven't opened it in forever.

Freeman Hunt said...

Wee.

Freeman Hunt said...

Heh. Bring this to a stylist.

Chennaul said...

Oh wait I shouldn't have said it was from the Obama Administration it came from brackobama.com and was signed of by Mitch Stewart.

What I don't get is do they really have supporters that would in effect give them an incentive not to pass it?

Would give them $30 bucks while they went on vacation {August recess}!?

{Freeman do not do the pixie aaarrrrghhh!}
